Coronavirus COVID-19 Pandemic

In some good news regarding covid, Melbourne, as of midnight tonight, is going to be coming out of lockdown! After around 100 days of having the vast majority of everything shut doen, we've hit a grand total of 91 active cases, 0 new cases (for today), a rolling two week average of 3.6 cases,only 7 people in hospital and none in intensive care! It's been difficult getting to this point and there's been some noticeable fuck ups along the way, but we did it!

On a more somber note, everybody else who is still dealing with the bullshit that is covid has my sympathy, hope you're getting through o.k.

Now, if you'll excuse me, I'm going to the pub.

Way too early to celebrate but at least case numbers are not escalating as fast as early October in Finland. Considering mid August peak days were but a sixth of where it went in less than two months, small win is a win. We even had two people apparently rise from their graves last week. Now we just have to keep winning more. Too bad this is the hard part which we are traditionally bad at, winning consistently.

So uh, who's intrested in a 20 minute long 1917 movie parody called '2020' by Ascender?

Cuz, I kinda like it, but not really like it a lot. I've never been a fan of the absoulte overabundance of the 'Karen' meme really and some scenes (like jumping (SPOILERS)) seems way too hard of an effort of trying to stick to 1917's script.

Otherwise it's decent. Though if you haven't watched 1917, then I believe you should not watch 2020 really.

I keep on hearing this advertisement on spotify and finally decided to look it up and apparently rona is covid. Confused the fuck out of me.
 
Waiting for the bus today, pretty much the last thing I expected to see was the anti-mask leaflet someone had put up. Lots of words on how the masks don't help and are actually a health hazard.

Months ago. 'The Rona' was one of the alternate terms used by a few Youtubers I subscribed to as well as 'the situation' because Youtube was aggressively flagging videos with Coronavirus, COVID-19, pandemic and other associated terms to be demonetized.

So my dad tested positive. I've been expecting it for months now, given the Kool-aid he chooses to drink and the disposition of his friends. We'll see if he's asymptomatic or if it hits him hard in a week or two. I just hope he didn't also give it to my mother.

Oh hell no. I live in another state. He can live (or not, depending on how this plays out) with his decision. But they were in the process of separating, so it'd be real fucking shitty if she kicked it because she hadn't initiated that a week earlier than she did.

-Things are not getting better.
-There should be a lockdown (last time things were this bad, there was a lockdown), but apparently "the economy can't take another one". So it's just recommendations to set X% people to remote work.
-Only gatherings of 3000+ people are banned right now, so there's going to be big Halloween parties today, in clubs. I would like the cunts that organize these to fucking die in a fire.
-It's like people are convinced that if there's no police-enforced lockdown, there's no danger at all. I can tell that these clubs are gonna be packed, with no fucks given about masks.
-5 people that I'm friends with have had it so far, light-to-moderate fortunately.

I first thought the quick exhaustion might be anaemia, due to an antibiotics treatment I had gotten playing haywire with my colitis ulcerosa, but yeah, definitely fever now. And the feeling that, well, not that I am asphyxiating or anything like that, but that I don't get enough oxygen with every breath. Shit shit shit.

I have called the 'Medical Readiness Service' and with some luck I might get a home visit for a test (It's Sunday. Everything regular is closed in Germany, including doctor offices).

Annnnd my dad's in the hospital. Second time in two years. Docs say he should be out in 3-10 days if all goes well, so we'll see if he manages to dodge this bullet too.
 
I must say, out of all the symptoms, the loss of smell and taste are the worst. I wouldn't even mind to die if that meant not losing both of my senses damn

On the plus side, losing them is apparently a good sign for your long-term prospects... and you'll probably get them back in a week or two.

I spent about three hours in the local ER today for reasons that are presumably not COVID-related (and which have significantly reduced my exercise capacity, so there's that). While I can't discuss several aspects of what happened here due to relevance and Rule 8, I should probably note that the nurses and techs described the entire affair as a nightmare and wished that it would just go away, repeatedly took very significant precautions (including isolating the COVID or possibly-COVID patients away from the section I was in, which was nearly empty), and had... very strong... opinions of the sort that runs into Rule 8 which they were utterly unafraid to discuss.
 
If this keeps up for long, no one's going to want to apply for medical/nurse jobs anymore.
