Cosmos Quest (Naruto/Lupin III)

I seem to remember mention of him teaching us how to do what Ami does.

I don't remember that.

Most Gentle Fist techniques are freely taught.

I wouldn't put it THAT way, more that it's nor forbidden for others to learn.

Any enemy would.
Just something else to watch out for.
And while Mist may be more likely to pull that on you , they are still human

So is Ami, and it's surprising how something can work on you even when you know it's a trick, because maybe it's not, maybe it's sincere! Especially true if you WANT to believe it.

It can be sincere and manipulative in any case.

He's not a sword expert either, but he teaches Ami in conjunction with Menka.
I suspect he can carry the tune.

He probably interacts with and has seen more sword users than tessen users, and at least Ami uses a blade.

Superior to a dedicated chakra-using style?
I have my doubts.
We'd have to learn the style, and then adapt it to chakra use.

Furiko explicitly said he can bring us up to chunin level but it costs two slots, and that's because he was good at fighting for a normal adult male, not a jounin female. I remember because I was the one who asked. Take that as you will.

Your point about her not using tags/seals is well taken.
Though given she's from Sound, there's a good chance she doesn't have Explosive Release.

Given that she is from Sound, she has a lower chance of having Explosive Release than someone from Stone but a higher chance than....just about anywhere else if Orochimaru is running the place. If not, then what do we know?

As for pissing off Deidara, remember what we told him about seeing the look on their faces?
It's in character with what he knows, and if we follow it with our own.....

True enough.

Hey boss, I have two questions.
QUESTION
1)Did it seem to Ino that Gaara caught on to Kibi's genjutsu early on? Or did he miss it like Temari did?
It wasn't until after they'd been fighting a while that he noticed. He noticed before Neji did, but it's possible that's only because he wasn't the one under attack.

uju32 said:
2)Seeing as Mei seems to be Mizukage, is Kisame a missing-nin in this AU?
Mist has no missing nin. :)

(By which I mean, outside of his tiny social circle, no one would know for certain if he was actually a free agent.)

You have no idea how much this amuses me.

What, Hien? That's a fair bit different from learning actual tessen forms and techniques.

How else do you think were going to use Ranton from a tessen?

It depends how the initial matchups for the finals go. Ami managed to give the boot to someone everyone was worried about, but even sane, Gaara is fucking terrifying, and Neji is definitely nothing to sneeze at in a non-oh-god-Gaara's-gonna-turn-Sasuke-into-mincemeat context. If Ino gets an easy opponent and Ami gets a difficult one, Asuma's gonna prioritize the risk-taking berserker over the speed-blitzing everything-dodger.

nightblade said:

Seeing as the last option was learning how to use Wind/Water/Ranton jutsu IIRC, I expect us to learn a variety of techniques that would probably involve some range games, like how Temari's fan.

I mean chakra reinforcement is certainly better than not having it, but I got the impression we'd be getting some stuff that's not just melee, which we kind of suck at regardless. Attacking from afar plays to our strengths much better.

Especially since Hien isn't tessen specific. Ami could use it on senbon in her hair, it sounds like more of an all-rounder boost. A helpful one, but if it were the only that'd be very disappointing.

At least that leaves some margin for hope there should things happen to come to blows.
It would probably require cooking up something entirely new.

They're such lazy bastards. :)) They figured out a long time ago that it's easier to just project the image of Best Mordor and then do whatever the hell they want than to actually get any good at closing leaks.

So I got a question. I haven't watched lupin. What skills did he have beyond being an amazing thief?

I can't decide whether Mist nin are the most ninja ninja in the ninja world or not.

Okay, better question, has Kisame knocked off any Daimyo's recently and....well, asking if Mist sanctioned it would be a pointless question.

And so may be if Kisame killed him. So have any Water Daimyo's been dying under mysterious circumstances?

Remember, Mother was taught by a master, and she taught us classically.
So we can certainly play classical.
And it becomes even more impressive if we start out classical and go avant-garde.

As for keeping up with a guitarist, you need to look up the history of the classical guitar.
They didn't start out electric.
I know we're capable of playing classical, but I am skeptical of our ability to win with it. Temari's band is described as 70's rock with some metal influences, so if they don't have electric guitars here then Gaara's making his own the way he made the gun.

WHOO! +2000 likes! This is the best early-early Christmas present ever!

nightblade said:

If he were a Heroic Spirit, he'd have A-ranked Riding abilities (in fact I'd classify him as a Rider-class Servant over even Assassin, and easily ahead of Archer); he once leapt from a train falling into a river on horseback onto a cliff that was above the bridge the train fell off, and the horse suffered no ill effects. He drag races, he has personally tricked out an old Fiat he got from Fujiko (yeah, true story, that's actually her car), he does cross-country car races against other more ruthless thieves, and he can extend his defiance of the laws of gravity to whatever vehicle he's currently in. If it can fly he can fly it, and if it has an engine he can be taught how to direct it in under a week.

He's an expert forger of documents and legal tender, though when it comes to art he has to get a specialist in.

He's such a master of disguise he has been known to seduce completely sober men while dressed as a chick - to the point of getting them into the bedroom and stripping down to shockingly convincing lingerie and fake boobs. The masks that Ino makes are something he specializes in; it's not clear whether he makes them himself or if there's a general supplier, since the only other people who employ such masks are other criminals and Zenigata, but I decided to go for the DIY possibility for the purposes of the quest.

Ino gets her linguistic skills from him as well; he speaks, at the very least, Japanese, French and English (though none of his voice actors seem to XD), and he probably speaks more, given how easily he converses with people around the world who have no reason to speak any of those languages. The voice-changing is in his repertoire too.

The mental static Ino has is from the movie The Secret of Mamo. The titular mad scientist has a mind-reading/control machine that self-destructs after prolonged exposure to the endless loop of sex-boobs-candy-chocolate bars-racecars-Fujiko-Fujiko-Fujiko-Zenigata-boobs-sex-jazz-rock-random cartoons that exists in Lupin's head.

Though in the the anime he's about as adept at intentional seduction of women as your dad-joke-making uncle, he is crazy-gifted at accidentally getting girls to fall for him. And of course it's the AU '70s, so it's not like he never gets any just 'cause he's a dork.

Speaking of sex, physics. She's his girlfriend way more so than Fujiko is, and lemme tell ya, that chick is up for anything if it's with him (or Goemon. It's a rather open relationship). The reason Ino has perfect chakra control is that Lupin basically does all sorts of things that would in the Narutoverse be considered chakra control exercises, in a universe where 'chakra' doesn't exist. He's had his pressure suit destroyed while visiting the wreck of the Titanic and managed to swim back to the sub in time to not die horribly, he runs up or down the side of buildings all the damn time, and I think he might have run on water at one point.

I think that means they win.

Hymn of Ragnarok said:

Yeah, but they always die under mysterious circumstances. Even when they die of old age, the body is required by law to lie in state in a public place for three days afterward just so all concerned parties can test and see that it isn't a body-double or a zombie waiting to eat small unwary children or some shit.

Improvised weaponry is what he goes for when a gun isn't an option.

He can fence, but so seldom does it come up that when he picks up the Zantetsuken and goes to town it always throws me. Total Forgot Flanders Could Do That material.

Yeah, I noticed that while browsing TV Tropes for him. Maybe swordsmanship wasn't such a bad idea when we were a kid.

Also I think this is the only naruto Reincarnation quest still running.

Yeah, but apparently the intense physical training at that age would have made us taller/stronger/et cetera, IIRC. Still perfectly feasible if Lupin or Goemon let us cheat to make large gains, but our strength is probably always be comparatively rubbish because Fragile Speedster.

Depending how good we become in however much time we may give Ami an inferiority complex. And Menka bemoaning how we never trained kenjutsu.

No way, Nitramy's still going strong. And Scorpio Rat is running a quest where Kiba's Amaterasu from Okami over on tvtropes and another place.

Stylish Quest might also still be alive, depending on whether Vindictus has crapped out on us again.

The update specifically mentions she's as tall as us. The average height for girls in the Naruto universe is at least two inches shorter than Suigetsu, and we already noticed she's a chuunin-to-jounin-level kenjutsuka. That doesn't say 'dainty and frail' to me.

[X] Hydrafy hands. If she tries to take the sword, bring hands back to normal and close them around hers. Break her fingers if necessary.

Our control isn't that good yet; we might end up drowning her outright if we go for the KO. I mean, obviously we should say we're going to drown her if she doesn't give up (Whispering Mist, after all), but let's not murder a genin on the intelligence-gathering mission, shall we?
I gotta be honest, I really don't wanna fuck around with the heat rising like this- we could really do serious damage to her face if we immerse it in water. I don't want us to be the guy that permanently scarred a girl who didn't honestly do us much damage.

Hymn of Ragnarok said:
Did you miss the part where we're struggling to stay on our feet? We don't even know if we'll be able to keep the Blob up for long enough to actually knock her out. And who knows what the hell she'll try if she isn't completely pacified; this girl is demonstrably nuts.

Besides, given the state of the room they'll probably call in our favour as fast as possible just so they can get the fire dealt with.

uju32 said:
I would agree, if she weren't fighting us.

Think about some of the stuff we've done on this quest so far. You think none of that got back to Konoha? If Ino, the girl who in canon was basically a normal teenage girl plus or minus some sensing, taijutsu and the Shintenshin at this point, is some sort of super-sleuth here, why wouldn't every jounin in town know our capabilities? And Ami's affinity is at a clear disadvantage here; she's probably pulling out all the stops because she's genuinely afraid of us.

I say we give her the chance to give up. It lulls people into a false sense of security by making them think we're nicer and/or more sadistic than we are, if nothing else.
