013 : Trinkets and Snacks

    • As you walked out of the airlock that connected the drydock that Big Sister ChiChi was resting in, you turned and looked back at the ship forms of yourself and your big sisters.

    It was different looking at yourself with your own eyes. It felt odd to have your ship body so far from you... but then, that was fine... you could survive this.

    More than that, given that you were in a group of your more experienced big sisters, you'll be fine. A fact that you keep insisting to yourself as you were dragged to a ferry shuttle that was being controlled by a virtual intelligence in place of an actual intelligence like you and your big sisters.

    It was adorable that someone had given said ferry shuttle a pet to interact with the customers. That the Eldanar wasn't a real person was obvious to your senses. It didn't have the quantum entanglement that your body had, it didn't hold a presence in the local subspace like you or your big sisters.

    Still, your big sisters hired the service of the ferry shuttle for your stay with one plasma credit. Certainly the ferry shuttle's pet was more than happy with the payment and seem to feel that it was generous.

    Still, as you were ferried about... you were exposed to a surprising number of creatures inhabiting Port Royale. Here and there, you could sense and see other sisters as they negociated for various items. Or simply wandering about with a pet.

    You also discovered something amazing.... the countless variety of ice cream, candies, and assorted tasty meals.

    All of which was... virtually free, given their cost being a small fraction of a plasma credit.

    And thus, you and your big sisters wandered from shop to shop, from restaurant to restaurant, in search of delights while the ferry shuttle and its pet ferried you about the city within the hull of Elder Sister Royal.

    As much as drowning ourselves in sweets sounds like a good place to start, lets see if there is someplace we can find some new modules or augments so we can treat our ship-body as well as our girl-body.

    The pet on the shuttle with us is cute though. Anyone up for looking for a pet shop around here after we get equipment?

    I still say look for a pet shop crew recruitment center to see whats on offer some time. Maybe not get crew now, but worth a look.

    Oh, and what gives her the right to decide what defines a "person"? By certain standards, she doesn't count as a "person".

    Different physiology and nature does not mean that different species are not "people". Just that they're different.

    Considering by the standards of space ship girls, she's basically a young child... a VERY young child...

    Obviously you need to have a subspace presence to be a person!

    I personally like Mordin's rule. But really belief about what constitutes "people" varies from individual to individual even within a species like Humans, scifi loves to play on it but it is actually a big wildcard what any given species will think qualifies as "people".

    US dollars, yes... I never did say the location for the dollars, did I? ^_^

    There are a number of countries where the dollar is stupidly strong, where you can live like a king easily... :3

    Even at the prices listed there you couldn't hire a taxi for days for a dollar.

    Twenty years ago there were many countries where people were living on pennies a day, but these days the general wealth distribution between countries has flattened out (somehow despite inequity between individuals in already developed nations skyrocketing).

    I'm seeing the dollar as the equivalent value for a space ship girl. And if you base the plasma credit on a US dollar. Then have space ship girls based on humans. A dollar for a human is a plasma credit for a space ship girl.

    Basically space ships take up incredible amounts of resources in comparison to normal people so to them what could be a pittance would be a massive amount to a person.

    I like Penwriter's idea. Even if it doesn't work out to get us any upgrades, it does let us see what prices are like, and what sort of upgrades we can expect to find. Besides that it can also be interpreted as just buy general souvenirs as well, so not like we will miss out on getting those.
