DoppleGanger Damacy Bootleg Redux! Quest (D&D 3.5/pathfinder)

[X] The beast is too large, and it's fur too heavy- It would take you easily in a straight fight. So you're not going to give it a straight fight- You are going to wait, study it's habits, and prepare for the moment it's guard is lowered. And then you'll kill it.
--[X] Firstly, note it's scent, the way it moves, and the tracks it leaves. Commit these to memory so that you can track it down later.
--[X] Sneak off and track down lesser prey. They will fill your guts and strengthen you for the coming fight.

One thing wrong with that.
We don't have a nose.

...

Then why did the city doppelganger have such an issue with the sewers? As I recall, it didn't want to enter them because of the horrid stench from very early on, before we did shapeshifter shenanigans or anything.

I have no idea. All I know is we don't have Scent. so we can't track it by that.

City doppleganger picked up scent from eating rats, This game is an entirely new doppleganger, without any of the bits the one on SB has.

Ah.

Well, we'll have to pick up 'Scenting' at some point. Not too hard- Most forest animals have pretty keen noses, IIRC.

For now, just cut the scenting bit out I guess.

so is 'wait for it to leave, pay attention to the trail it leaves, and hunt lesser prey until you can win a fight with it' consensus?

[x] Wait until it leaves, note its tracks and then hunt weaker prey.
it sniffs the area, looks up at the tree you are hiding in and turns into something shaped like you before it makes noises that you do not understand. it gestures with an am at you, then the ground in front of it.

What do you do?
[z] It's a trap, stay perfectly still and hope that it goes away.
[z] Whatever this thing is, it looks kind of like you, and it can change shape kind-of like you do, maybe it's the same thing you are, just more experienced? Obey it's request for you to come down out of the tree.
[z] Flee! Flee for your life!
[z] Some sort of genius plan the voices have concocted?

... Welp. That came out of left field.

i started rolling for the next thing you guys encounter, and hit 'elven druid', decided to just turn the bear into the druid.

What level is the Druid?
Fuck it man, we don't have to power to nom that.
Best to run like a scared rabbit.

... Are we talking about classical fluffy bunny druid [No offence mrgazzer] that preaches peace, love, harmony with nature... Basic hippy druid?

Or are we talking the kind of druid who'd think that 'You keep what you kill/eat' is a nifty trick, and perfectly in line with their preferences?

This will change how I approach this considerably.

the doppleganger feels endangered, he is sure that a if a fight ensues he will lose.

This is not an encounter that can be successfully fought at this stage of the game without getting stupid lucky on your first attack.

As for the sort of druid: The druid ate your bait.

[X]Run.

Lol bear was a druid.think what would have happened if we fought it.

[X] Welp. This thing changes skins, much like yourself- But it seems to have more control over it's form then you. It's already shown that it can take a form larger and stronger then your own, too- You would hardly be surprised if it takes a form that's faster then you if you attempt to flee.
-->[X] That said, it's obviously noticed your prescence, and doesn't seem to be hostile so much as... Curious. You will admit that you are as well, meeting something both like and unlike yourself in such a way. Since running is probably not an option, you'll go along with what the Skin-Changer wants. For now.
-->[X] Climb down the tree, and sit down where the Skin-Changer pointed. Make no agressive motions towards it, and pay close attention to it.

Hey, why not? Lets see if we can make 'Friends'.

Looks like the vote is to run, unless anyone else shows up.

This dice roll has been tampered with!
Rolled 2d20 : 12, 18, total 30
Trying out the rolling things here. Looks like it's convient and works well, so i think i'll start using them instead of invisible castle or the d20 on my desk. Also, good set of rolls there for you guys.

you are sure that if it came to a fight that you would lose. This thing is a much greater predator than you, and it is more skilled at changing shapes as well. It could easily chase you down if you run. Therefor the only thing that makes sense is to obey it's request that you come down to where it is. Curiosity on both sides of this encounter are obvious, you want to know what it is, and it seems to desire to learn of you.

You climb down the tree and sit where it pointed, attentively looking at it. It makes more mouth-noises that you do not understand, but you are sure it is attempting to communicate with you. It seems to pause its mouth-noises for a moment before it begins making more, but theses sound different somehow, angrier maybe? You prostrate yourself in front of it, a submissive gesture that you hope will placate it. It's tones soften, but it keeps making noises you do not understand. It changes tactics and pulls a thing out of a skin-flap before offering the thing to you. with its free hand it mimes you taking the thing and drinking the contents.

What do you do?
[z] EAT!
[z] Obey
[z] Decline
[z] Run!
[z] Brilliant plan Mk2! (Write-in)

[z] Obey
-[z] but do so carefully.

[x] drink cautiously
you sniff the thing, lick the outside-it tastes like old meat-, and inspect it before swallowing it. the skin-walker nods its head and for the first time you understand its mouth-noises.

"So what exactly are you? I'm sure you're intelligent" It gestures at the remains of your trap. "an unintelligent predator would simply eat everything." You hear the curiosity in its voice. How shall you respond?

[z] EAT!
[z] Run!
[z] Head-guys, a little help?
