Great chapter; I'm looking forward to seeing how Harry ends up venting this anger.

a group of poachers hunting out of state and out of season got the rudest surprise of their lives.

They're in BC still, aren't they? So "out of state" should be "out of province".

but was failure that the reason for this strange calm?

The grammar here is messed up. Should this be "but was that failure the reason for this strange calm?"

Thanks, edits made.

This has been through so many rounds of editing, I expect there are quite a few of those sorts of oversights and kludges.

So it just occurred to me are the other Great Dragons going to be interested in Harrys human transformation since it keeps the physical abilities of a Dragon while beings human shaped and it sounds like a better version of what the GD use to be Human during the Sixth Age. It might also let a certain future President walk off a future assassination

Or am i misunderstanding something about it

They will be quite interested.

Harry is actively transfiguring himself, which means he transforms with all the detail he remembers to include, down to various material properties and such. It also means that he can lose control of his transformation, reverting back to his natural form if his concentration slips too much (partial occurrences of this were what trashed much of the reception area when he lost his temper in this section).

The standard Shadowrun transformation is a great deal more polished and much more stable, more of a fire-and-forget kind of thing. Using that method, a dragon does not have to keep every little detail in mind, just the broad strokes, and the spell fills in the rest according to its internal design. Of course, that internal design has a very consistent, detailed, and rigid conception of what it means to be human... much more so than Harry's sometimes sketchy attention to detail.

There are advantages and disadvantages to both methods

nice chapter thx for writing it good to see ya back in action hope everything is fine with ya
that poor goblins he deserve's a promotion for having to break the news to a dragon.
fun to see harry go off trying to find his damsel and kicking up a storm.
will be interesting to see him exploring his emotions in detail and seeing him vent his anger hopefully at a deserving target

Great! I worried that story may be dead, nice to have such evening surprise.

I wonder about amount of damage that Harry will now cause. Hopefully he will be targeted toward something deserving it (or at least capable of absorbing it) rather than people trying to solve the problem.

Though I wonder

- where is Dumbledore?
- since when he could turn into overmuscled pigeon? Maybe it is time for reread

You're back! I've missed this so much...

Uh, let's hope that Skeeter happens to be visiting again soon. It'd be awkward if he blows up at someone who doesn't deserve it.

Harry Potter is the Youngest Great Dragon
wait , like proper full on Great Dragon , thought you needed to by incredibly old even be dragon standards to qualify for that descriptor , like now I want to really see the other great dragons waking up and reacting to this 12 year old Great Dragon and how all of them struggle to take him seriously considering each of them is like 50k plus years minimum

like Lofwyr going all :"oh look baby's first business empire , look at how hard he is trying to build his hoard" or Dunkelzahn :" ohh , it his first political conspiracy, how cute"

That may be true, but this a Young Great Dragon who has been eating millennia worth of magical energy as a regular snack. So while Lofwyr and Dunkelzahn might be more experienced, Harry might end up needing to be treated like an adult.

if only to avoid collateral damage.

Dealing with angry teenager is going to be hilarious.

Teenager are frustrating where you are twice their age.

Being five thousand times their age and hundreds times their experience and having the same power is going to be hilariously irritating.

(and angry for very good reasons, even if many Great Dragons would consider attachment to mortals as silly)

That why Doghead Thirteen was think about having both Dunkelzahn an Lofwyr treating Harry like he was their Little Brother. To protect him till him can handle Other Great Dragon's. Because even Other Great Dragon's don't want Lofwyr an Dunkelzahn showwing up toughter to sjow their displeasure.

I doubt harry is going to be dunkle tier. Even different dragons have different strengths, and big d is the strongest. Maybe he is rivaled by ghost wing but he is the loremaster for a reason.

Harry is probably lacking in a lot of skills to be comparably dangerous.

Definitely, this story is without "Harry the most powerful being in universe" tripe.

If I'm remembering earlier discussion right, for the purposes of this fic, "Great Dragon" is a lot closer to a "species" of dragon, as opposed to purely a matter of age/power. Not to say Harry fits any kind of expected growth curve, or that he knows the kinds of things dragons are expected to know. Ignoring knowledge, I'd guess his current self is equivalent to an ~100 year old, and he'll be roughly equivalent to an ~1000 year old by the time we reach Shadowrun canon. Could be entirely wrong about both numbers though.

I hope he calms down a bit by interacting with Hermione and making sure she is safe.

he might end up with brute strength and power on that level
which does not mean that he would not be absolutely slaughtered in a fight due to the lack of skills mentioned

Back to my point about back collateral damage, I think that Harry will hit a point where he would still lose a fight between dragon, but would be powerful enough to discourage such actions due to the damage it could do to the other dragon's plans.

Also Harry is going to have the advantage as while the other dragons will need to rebuild their support base after their awakening, Harry will have a 30 year head start.

Which while not an impossible challenge to the Elder dragons, it will be far harder to create a power base in this world compared to the chaos of canon. For example, this chapter shows that the goblins will have no reason to align with anyone other than Harry.

there are also a few other bits of the worldbuilding that could have interesting effects.
from what I can tell Vladimir Tepes controls a respectable portion of the magical world and is a power that even the Great Dragons would be wary of fighting
and the Wurrugu's skill with major rituals could change things to

Just saw the newest update! It's very exciting to see the tension and build-up that's been going on start to release. Hopefully Harry's able to come up with a decent way to keep in control that doesn't involve destroying too much more of the Ministry's poor innocent furniture! Either way, I'm looking forward to seeing what happens next.

(Also, one extremely minor note - it looks like the last header, "5.7. - Anger Management", is missing the last number.)

You'll find out about Dumbledore at the beginning of the next section
Harry was right about there being a DMLE night desk. Dumbledore is familiar enough with the Ministry to know where it is, and is so accustomed to being that familiar that he didn't think about the fact that Harry might not.

The pigeon form is from way back in Chapter 1.

As for the Great Dragon discussion:

As Jarow mentioned, I am treating Great Dragons as a subset of Shadowrun dragons who have an indeterminate growth habit rather than reaching an adult size and stopping. Some dragons are just hatched with it, and the signs are apparent... at least to sufficiently knowledgeable dragons.

I had planned out too much of the story by the time I ran across the relevant Shadowrun lore about the details of Great Dragon rites of passage to incorporate it easily.

And yes, Harry is growing a lot faster than normal, but that growth is not fast enough to make up for dozens of millennia worth of head start. He will be quite noticeably bigger than a normal adult western dracoform by the time of the Awakening, but he will still be very much the most junior member of the Great Dragon club in most every sense of the word. He is catching up unnaturally fast, but even so, that will last past the end of the story.

Tisaku, Mainsail: Thanks! Edits made.

Dragons are bastards and basically psychpathic, they can intellectually work into empathy but it is not a natural emotions they have.

Dragons have an incredibly arcane code of conducts that is the basis of civilised dragon discourse, harry needs to learn that as well.

i wouldn't go that far Acolyte Dragons are so long lived that the human lifespan is but an eyeblink to them. that creates a bit of a, shall we say, disconnect, if for nothing else their own mental protection. "Its just a human," is their thought just as we would say "Its just a dog/cat (other domesticated pet) and while the loss of one can and will drive some caring soul to swear off interaction, they also have very little in the way of intellectual comparison outside their own.

Finally caught up with this. Can't wait for Harry to bulldoze his way through anything with even a faint connection to the kidnapping of his damsel.

Skeeter is a bitch, really hope she gets eaten. On the other hand, Harry might approach her and squeeze any info she has out to track down some targets. Wonder how he'd feel if he learned that it was Skeeter being a bitch that led to the group that kidnapped Hermione managing to get out of the scope.

Also, why do I feel that Narcissa is going to be a prevalent antagonist? She's a CEO, smarter than her husband, has contacts, and is basically unconnected from everything. Also I want her to get eaten.

The Su Li and Clan plot is interesting, and them having an interest in Harry and a conflict with Romania, and thus Mr Tepes, could lead to the Hogwarts group interacting with him and learning about his interaction with a Nexus. That would be great for further draining ops, or even learning more about the mysterious maybe-elf that they met in Canada.
