Flickering Embers [MTG/ZnT] Quest

Re: Flickering Embers [MTG/Crossover] Quest

I believe the color is for summoning blowback.

Re: Flickering Embers [MTG/Crossover] Quest

[X] And in that instant your heart ignites. You are Louise Françoise le Blanc de la Vallière, and you will not fail here! For your family. For the princess you were once friends with. For yourself! And to spite that Zerbst! All you can see is Flames.

Re: Flickering Embers [MTG/Crossover] Quest

[X] You dream of the past. You dream of the future. You see them.. those that have come before, those that have come after. You walk in the footsteps of a thousand thousand students, and a thousand thousand will follow in yours. Seeking knowledge. Seeking.. Awareness. You can smell the sea.

Re: Flickering Embers [MTG/Crossover] Quest

[X] You see the deep shadows, the wasteful strength, the rising tide of darkness. Within your soul, you see it. The emptyness. The lack. The Void.

Time magic is always fun.

Re: Flickering Embers [MTG/Crossover] Quest

It also NEVER works in MTG.

Re: Flickering Embers [MTG/Crossover] Quest

I would like to remind you all that you've never heard of MTG style magic before, and are unlikely to find any books or teachers for it. So if you want time magic, you'll have to work it out from first principles. (Hint. Not easy)

Also, as i said, this choice does not lock you into or out of a color. It merely determines what effects your attempted summoning has. And how long you end up in the hospital.

Yeah, that's why the planewalkers were hit so hard with the nerf hammer from whatever the guiding force of the universe saying enough.

But we can focus on it to the exclusion of all else then just reverse time and do everything that we should have done when we were learning time magic?

That was a combination of three factors, not just one. The Time Magics of Tolaria, The damages from the various wars, and the Karona incident. The combination of these three events created a cocktail that resulted in the damage of Dominaria which was the nexus of the multiverse. The consequences of that was the nerfhammer you speak of; though as Nicol Bolas has shown in the Alara block, one can find ways around that.

Actually; the biggest one that caused the most damage was Karona, as the embodiment of Dominaria's mana, when she left the plane for teh lulz she took all of the plane's mana with her. That caused the time rifts; which in turn caused all of Time Spiral to occur. Had that not happened, the nerf would've never happened. Also because lolWizards of the Coast wanted to make planeswalkers playable cards for more money.

For a selection of reasons.. No.

Yeah, that sounds reasonable; just because Time Magic isn't as dangerous as Redon's saying it is doesn't mean we should play around with it like that...

Re: Flickering Embers [MTG/Crossover] Quest

Changing vote.

[X] And in that instant your heart ignites. You are Louise Françoise le Blanc de la Vallière, and you will not fail here! For your family. For the princess you were once friends with. For yourself! And to spite that Zerbst! All you can see is Flames.

We already have a Red favoring Planes-walker on this forum couldn't we go for the neglected blue.
Quoting this because it bears repeating; we already have a Red MtG quest, can we focus on a different color please?

Re: Flickering Embers [MTG/Crossover] Quest

BLACK AND GREEN~

Re: Flickering Embers [MTG/Crossover] Quest

Guys... the color selection here and now has NO/ZERO effect on full color. I believe happerry is going FULL prismatic color. The selection here is for SUMMONING ritual effect!

As a void mage, Louise has silly high affinities for black. As someone who's first landbond is a legendary land of a magic academy, she has a link to blue mana. (Also, I'm not sure if it's fanon or not that she's really high up there scholarship wise in an attempt to get her magic to work by knowing more, but it's true in this verse.)

...As an individual, she is Red Red Red Red, with a sidebar in the elements of Explosions, Outrage, and setting germanian hussies on fire.
Even then; I'd rather pick Blue than Red. By choosing Red we choose to indulge in our impulsiveness, but Blue would help to temper that; something Louise sorely needs.

Correct. While plainswalkers can choose to specialize, they are fully prismatic in potential.

Anyway. Current Votecount. Votes called.

Red: 6, Biigoh, Darik29, Redon, Scope, Aranfan, MacroDaemon
Blue: 6. EnderofWorlds, Jiven, Carrnage, minuseven, al103, LoreOfClarke
Black: 3, Earth-Destroyer, fitzgerald, Vindictus

Someone roll a d100 for me, would you? Even is blue, odd is red. Natural 100 is duocolor reaction.

Re: Flickering Embers [MTG/Crossover] Quest

Wow, that's low.

I wanna see what I would get...
[blockquote]Red/Blue/Black 1d100 : 38, total 38[/blockquote]

Re: Flickering Embers [MTG/Crossover] Quest

And it is so, that on your third and final try, the air breaks in front of you, a strange and occult light leaking through cracks in the very world.. for a second you think your summoning was successful. That in but a moment, your strong, beautiful, sacred familiar would fall from the summoning in front of you.

And then the heat hits you like a physical force, as the light bleeds to red, painting the courtyard an eerie color, a sunset as bright as day... It comes in embers first, sparks, but it grows, as fire leaks from the very air and you stagger as you sense the twisting nothingness on the other side. In has much time as it takes to take a breath, a vast revolving tower of flame claws its way through the air to the sky.. and beyond. But despite this show, you barely have time to notice it, for you hurt, feel pain in ways you did not know was possible as your very soul protests the power that surges through it.

Staggering back a step, you barely hear the teacher yelling something over the roar of the flames.. something about.. instability?

It's about this time when the tower of flame explodes and you suddenly realize what he was trying to tell you to do. Too bad you didn't figure it out before you were airborne. Once, twice you almost lazily revolve through the air, witnessing both your fellow students being knocked of their feet from from the force, the grass bursting into flame from the raw heat, and the thousand falling tears that have fountained into the sky, burning like falling stars as you twist through both earthwards and then skywards facings in succession. And then? Then the wall comes before you, and after a brief moment of impact... the world goes black.

Gained; Burn Resistance: C+
Gained; Heat Resistance: D

POV shift! From who's eyes do we gaze over events as Louise heals?

if we could have write-ins, TheThief would be interesting.

The one you are referring to as the thief is already an option.
