General chat thread

I feel, as usual, like locking the door and never opening it again. So quite normal, thank you.

You wanna talk about it more?

Well, Schools back in and with it, the million and one administrative nightmares that come with. On the flipside, I have Rise and the modding scene has started up. I could be much worse.

However, regional Australia has a major meat shortage, so I'm having to make the meat I do have last. I've got a butterflied leg of lamb that I'm considering Dry Aging to make last longer. Normally I wouldn't but the shelves are basically empty.

And no, Long Sword guys, I don't care that replacing Critical Juncture with Sakura Slash lowers my potential output. I despise the shear amount of counter filler in Rise Movesets and I never land the counter anyway with my trash ass reflexes. My goal is to have fun, not to be a puritan.

Personally I couldn't give a dam about Regional Australia since I live there as well. To me it's just a racist hole that I'm reluctantly living in.

But I'm sorry about what's happened to you. How's fun for you then?

Do you want to stop?

So I'm wondering how everyone is doing. Like are you guys or girls okay?
I've been fully burned out on writing since November, and have no idea what my brain is looking for in dopamine, except that it's also not reading or playing video games. But my meds working well enough that I don't currently wish I could sink into a space between dimensions and vanish from reality. So, I'm okay in the Time Lord sense.

A somewhat cheerier conversation starter:

I don't know where else I can post but, How do you overcome writer's block especially to avoid not disappointing a audience? I want to go back to posting stories but I just can't finish what I write without bashing my head on the wall.

There's a few different things you can try. If you're having issues with a scene from one character's point of view, try writing from the perspective of someone else. If you can't get the words to come, try writing a parody of the scene instead, then go back and do the actual scene. If that doesn't work, you can always discard your current plans and do something completely different. And if that doesn't work either, you can always take a break and do something other than writing.

Write anyway. Writer's block is only emotional, not actual, and so can be ignored with a bit of personal discipline.

Don't get me wrong, forcing it through like that will make quality suffer, of that there's little doubt. But sometimes you have to accept that 'not good enough' is going to have to be good enough.

Which should be enough to get you through the scene and on to (hopefully) better things.

Or you'll burn out and spend months feeling awful when you try to write and awful when you don't.

If you don't schedule time for self-maintenance your brain will schedule it for you.

Hasn't happened to me, yet. And I've been at it for years.

What part of my post even implies you don't take time to rest? "Do it even if you don't feel like it" is basic life advice against procrastination.

"Never take time to rest or enjoy yourself" is Japan.

You know... with this whole of talk of being unable to seemingly bypass writer's block and general melancholy moods. Is there even a thread for writing resources to help writers and in general self-improvement? If not should I make one?

There've been a few

https://forum.questionablequesting.com/threads/advice-on-writing.4397/
https://forum.questionablequesting.com/threads/advice-on-writing-a-novel.6611/
https://forum.questionablequesting.com/threads/morde24s-guide-to-writing.15988/
https://forum.questionablequesting.com/threads/writing-nsfw-q-a.638/ (This one's NSFW)

I've probably even missed a few others

Hmm... I see. All good threads especially the NSFW one and Morde24's thread as well. Perhaps instead of another general writing advice thread, I could make one that's more oriented towards providing in-depth resources, writing tools and motivation, an open source thing really. Meh, at this point I might as well just start searching. Might take me a day or two though.

Can I asked you guys about what your opinions on Indonesia if you know about it or ever visited it?

(This question is purely comes from my personal curiosity of how people from other countries saw my country)

I've heard it has some interesting folk myths. That's about all.

Indonesia just doesn't come up in the news enough for any sort of opinion to form.

Ah yes, the folk myths.
We have many of them, Dreadout is pretty accurate at portraying it.

Fair enough, I guess...
The last things that can comes in International news is Indonesia ban of selling coal exports a few months prior.

Other than a couple of REALLY BIG volcanic explosions, the only thing that comes to mind are very pretty women, nice weather and social/religious conflict.

Which was probably part of that whole fiasco between China and Australia. Two nations I'm sure you're thrilled to be caught between.
Actually the fiasco between China & Australia is a different things and doesn't include the Southeast Asia at all.

The ban on coal exports is happen because the coal manufacturing company in Indonesia doesn't fill their agreed quotas and choose to sell the coal abroad for profits.
And the government didn't like that. So they decided to ban the coal export to telling the companies who is in control.

Because in our constitutions, they're not even supposed to sell it abroad and can pretty much call the Judicial Institutions to go hard on them (Basically all our constitutions is coming from a compromise of another compromise).

The other countries(especially Japan) was kinda bewildered by the move and asked the ban to be scrapped and lifted. Which we didn't do.
And then the ban was lifted in February.

(Sorry for the rants, and I will leave this thread because I afraid I'm breaking the site rules.)

On unrelated notes, after 5 years of social isolation, I admitted to myself that I am incapable of forming serious (social or romantic) relationships and shamefully coughed up the money for a sex doll. That will hurt my bank account and soul.
Sadly the tech for heating and breathing isn't there yet, so I am still sceptical if I will use it consistently or if it will just be abandoned like my VR headset (porn or games).

Hello Y'all. I'm new to QQ (and the quest scene in general).
I heard that SFW quests don't do well here (unless possible violence, gore & death is considered NSFW). Any possible way I can attract new viewers for my quest? Sorry if this is the wrong forum. I'm kinda lost :/
It's a kingdom-builder set in a medievalesque fantasy world. I've been working on the world-building and Chapter 1 (7.5k words) for the past 4 months. Pretty excited to see how it does here!
