Dunno if there's a better place to complain about this, but Deviantart has the worst search function of all art galleries.

The popular search doesn't work, the tags are optional at best, and the only goddamned ways to search are to sort stuff by new. Which is as good as useless.

I decided to uninstall noscript from my laptop because it is inconvenient to adjust it for each new site I visit, and I am not too paranoid about javascript.

So I was drinking some fancy wine from a soda cup I got from a barbecue place and I realized that I have absolutely no class.

Styrofoam fits in cup holders. Blatantly superior.

I think that's how it's supposed to be spelled.
Type 'come' into a search engine.

Type 'cum'.

See what happens.

(Disclaimer- safe search might distort results)

And while I'm loathe to use appeal to majority in most arguments, the one time the argument is valid is language. Or at least nontechnical language. Technical language by its nature needs to follow a more exclusive system of definition.

And if we were using technical language, we wouldn't use either. We'd use words like 'ejaculate' and 'climax'. Exclusively.

TL;DR: culture has spoken, even if the dictionaries haven't figured it out yet.

I dunno man.

The wordplay in common idioms like "come-hither look" is greatly enhanced by having "come" ambiguous.

It's great that we have an unambiguous word for when that's desirable -- for when we want to intermix porn and technical writing -- but I want to keep the ambiguous one viable as well, because having some degrees of ambiguity feels useful to me. Most porn is NOT going to be technical writing.

I decided to try an experiment: turn off my adblocker for a few days, but keep privacy badger on. Privacy badger blocks tracking scripts and cookies. On about half of all websites it blocks all ads, and even on sites with aggressive ads like youtube, it blocks a small number of ads.

I have acquired an old CD that teaches typing and I am excited. It is from the early 2000s. Called "mavis beacone teaches typing". I tried running it on one of the work computers since they have disc readers, but I apparently need a password to run it. A password I don't have. So I am going to get a portable disc reader and use it on my laptop. The thing was made for windows xp, and I have windows 10. As such, I am a little worried about compatibility. However, if it does not work on windows 10, I will probably find a way to run it in a virtual machine.

Update: I was able to copy files from the cd to a usb drive and installed on my laptop! It works in windows 10. I don't know WHY. It was made for windows 98 and XP, which are decades out of date by now. I guess windows OS is similar behind the scenes enough that it was compatible?

Also the program is still around and is available for windows 10, mac, and others! Although the modern version is probably quite different from what I downloaded.

Also Microsoft gave their newer operating systems 'compatibility modes' designed to try to imitate the functionality of old OSs to let old software run. Sometimes it works like a charm, sometimes it works in a buggy way, and sometimes it still doesn't work at all. Depends what OS features the software uses.

I have, once again, fired up Skyrim and loaded up a few hundred mods and I'm playing it again and I realized my truth about the perennial Imperials vs Stormcloaks debate. I've made all kinds of arguments here and there, but the truth is...

It hurt my feelings to have Jarl Balgruuf angry and disappointed with me, and Michael Hogan's voice acting as General Tullius makes me smile.

That's it. That's all.

If Michael Hogan had been voicing Ulfric, I'd be Stormcloak for life. Especially if he'd still had Rikke as his 2IC, she's not the reason I go Imperial, but I really like her. (Sorry, not sorry but I don't find Galmar Stone-Fist at all fuckable)

Thinking about this made me really face how much every decision I make is based on emotions, with most logic being added on after the fact to justify the decisions I made. I knew it vaguely, but now I understand it.

You aren't wrong. I made my choice based on emotion too. The fact that the Empire tried to murder me is a major black mark against them.

They tried to kill me; they don't get to complain when I kill them back. Though I will admit that the Empire winning is best in the geopolitical sense.

Course I also installed a mod where the damn elves attack Skyrim and I very much intend to inform them why that is a mistake.

The Imperials tried to kill me too. But they got Michael Hogan, so I forgive them.

Fuck the imps, fuck the stormtards. Jarl Ballin had my back when no one else did, so I back him. Replacing him with Vinegar or whateverthefuck his name is would be awful, so I back the Empire.

Both Tulius and Ulfric have badass VCs, but Tulius' is better as a military commander.

The Imperials are led by the voice of Col. Saul Tigh. That's what I want.

Honestly? My pick for best faction is Alduin.

Really dropped the ball that that wasn't an option there, Todd.

I've never really used hammocks, ever since I got a surplus MSS, I just sleep on the ground like damn grunt. Hope it holds up 'cause I'm hitching west come summertime. This community I live in has gotten too crazy this year, can't take it anymore.
With no pad? You animal. I cant sleep without something between me and the hard floor.

Okay, well thankfully I've haven't become a demon to the point where I destroy my body by full-on sleeping on concrete/earth in just a bivy and sleeping bag. So, normally I just go into the bush, chop down pine branches, pack it down to make a wide "flooring" which I then fill with... really anything. In my case, as I live in an arctic peatbog, I mostly just use turf and reeds. If you sleep on your side like I do and want to minimize pressure on your elbows and knees then wear pads. I personally use the knee and elbow pads from ALTA because they, for me, cover most of the area where my kneecap is.

And uh... get a quilt instead of a sleeping bag, learn good sleeping posture and FOR ALL THAT IS HOLY IN THIS WORLD, GET A GOOD PILLOW! I cannot stress that enough, having a garbage pillow will ruin you in every way. Make sure it has a good cushion, make sure it doesn't slip and slide all over the damn place, make sure it doesn't strain your neck and... something else I'm probably forgetting to mention.

Put yeah, get a good pillow.

Something I need to remember for the opening of a best man's speech at a wedding reception: "Welcome back! I see a lot of familiar faces and a good few new ones!"
