Governor's Gambit - Star Wars SI into Imperial Governor

By the definition of the Anaxes War College, a cruiser is between 400-1000 meters, so not those little Arquitens which are technically frigates. Can't really find anything, since the Empire seems to be top heavy at the best of times. Any help with this is greatly appreciated.
It can be hard, and there are some. Though finding information on some of them can be hard since there's mentions and that's about it. Like the Imperial and Victory class frigates I think, showed up in stuff like the classic Battlefront games but then there's little information on them.

But these three ships would probably work with what you want. I personally suggest the Strike, but that is entirely out of playing Thrawn's Revenge and how absolutely useful they were in one of the iterations some years ago. A nice mix of firepower, toughness and carrying fighters/bombers while being cheap. Great for swarm tactics.

Then I suppose there's also the Victory class Frigate, but there are no dimensions on that one. So, you can just say they're at the right size even if they are frigates.

KDY developed the Broadside-class in 1 BBY; it's a 500m-length cruiser, kinda ugly but with lots of missile launchers. Kinda slow though, so if you want something with more mobility, its predecessor the Gladiator-class might be more suitable even at 600m.

-Strike Cruisers are 450m long and are designed to be modular. 2 of them are supposed to be equivalent to a Victory.
-Broadside missile cruisers are 500m long and are a decent alternative to the firepower of a star destroyer. They are expensive to maintain due to the cost of replacing the missiles.
-Vindicator Heavy Cruisers are 600m long.
-Gladiators are 600m long.
-Dreadnaughts are also 600m long. You would be a hero if you could find a way to cut on the crew requirements of those.

Your best bet would probably be to start pumping out Strike Cruisers and their variants. Makes production/acquisition of parts easier alongside repairs and maintenance.

Be kinda funny if he just stays in his little corner of the outer rim for the entire war and when the new republic forms they actually don't have anything really bad on him and he's ridiculously good at his job so they just kinda leave him there.

EDIT:
"That one Imperial governor who was actually sort of okay."

There is also the apocryphal Venator II design that basically turns it into an extremely heavily shielded and heavier armored gun brick via removing all small craft and troop support functions, faster by a fair bit as well though I don't believe it ever progressed beyond prototypes at Kuat.

For the Midna Collegial Program I had a thought. Las should put out a Guild mission to hit up the largest and most high quality colleges in the galaxy with an on going mission to keep going down the list of planets with the best education systems to download their public databases and if some of them are able to access the more private information even better. If he talks to Darna about it I can see her running with it as a off the books side bonus for any crew and to do so to bring their educational resources higher for Midna.

A lot of core worlds scoff at Outer Rim education so pulling one over them would make a bunch of smuggler and slicers pretty happy to bring the kids education up and even being paid for it. Having the best education source on his planet will solidify his planets importance to the sector when the eventual civil war kicks off and movement between sectors becomes fragmented. No one will notice the sleeping giant slowly building it self up in the background with high quality education.

Also, it is a money pit so bonus points for Las.

Also! Ship time! I have found some cool fanart for cruiser concepts that the shipyards will struggle to build in the future. The thing is, I don't want to always use fanart all the time, cause as much as it is cool, it can be a little much at times. So, I would prefer to use an existing Imperial Cruiser. A real one.

As always, feedback and commentary are appreciated.

Thanks for reading!

Gladiator class star destroyer is 600 meters amd a cruiser in size.your fleet already uses one as its flagship so you'll be familiar with it. Looks cool. Cheaper than even victories but never got the budgeting approval by the budget approvers for mass production like ISDs did to make it as omnipresent

Acclamator is 752 meters and a super fast 0.6 class hyperdrive built by the same shipyards he bought. Both combat capable, and has a carrier variant for the empire and by design is great for heavily armored cargo transport since its a ground assault ship originally.

Victory II class star destroyer: at 900 meters The Victory II is more or less the garrison ship of the Imperial Navy,
and does its job well, using its well rounded armament of 20 heavy dual turbolaser
batteries, 20 turbolaser batteries, 10 heavy ion cannons, and its complement of 24 TIE
Fighters. Additionally it has a hyperdrive rating of 1.0, meaning it is faster than most
other military ships of the line, with decent shielding to boot. This ship is an all around
excellent generalist cruiser, and more than capable of defending a planet from most
threats smaller than it. This ship would alsso become arguably the favored ship for manufacturing and maintaining fleet strength in the post endor Warlord era for fleet power projection and patrols due to less than half the cost while being far more logistically viable to maintain and repair and afford than the ISDs outside of the mega shipyards like Kuat.

Carrack-Class Light Cruiser: Despite its age, having served even before the
Clones Wars, the 350 meter Carrack Light Cruiser is still a superb frigate that holds up
incredibly well, even in this era. While its shielding systems and other such components
are generally considered average, especially for its age, It has a class 1.0 hyperdrive,
which allows it to keep up with current designs, while its large, for its size, weapons
array consists of 10 heavy turbolasers and 20 ion cannon batteries. It also, surprisingly,
has a complement of 5 Starfighters held on external fighter racks

Ton-Falk Escort Carrier: A cheap and flexible light carrier vessel perfect for
supporting larger scale fleets with their large complements of starfighters, the Ton-Falk
Escort Carrier is well liked by many imperial remnants for its economical nature, being
far easier to produce en-masse and field when compared to an Imperial Star Destroyer.
Though its main purpose is to field starfighters, it also comes fairly well armed, with 10
turbolasers, 6 missile launchers, and 4 tractor beam projectors for self defense. As for
its role as a carrier, it comes with an impressive complement of 72 TIE Fighters in its
500 meter hull

Broadside Cruiser: This 500 meter cruiser is the definition of a missile boat.
It comes armed with an impressive 40 concussion missile tubes, capable of firing at
extreme distances. Its secondary armaments as well as its defenses are a bit lacking,
with only 2 dual turbolasers backing up its primary armaments, and its shields leaving
much to be desired. Imperial used this one for long range missile boat stuff. Really good sniping ship in empire at war game. Glass cannon in game.

Sad thing is I think the New Republic will have to attack him in the long run.
Purely because a successful, peaceful and prosperous Imperial successor state will be a massive hit to their legitimacy.

Nah.

That's when they just talk to him, and negociate Minda joining up.

It's only after he refuses, based on them being not up to his standards, that things get a bit tenser. He's still not going to be high on their list.

There's way too many hopeless assholes out there that will have to come first. Las isn't threatening.

For another option that would be just, out there, the Interdictor class. https://starwars.fandom.com/wiki/Interdictor-class_cruiser

At 600 meters well within the length parameters given. Plus while very much so not produced in millennia, it should be possible to get the early designs as Sienar made them originally. Give it to R&D while the other smaller ships like frigates get done, then pump these out without the interdiction tech and modernized. Maybe call them something like the Dagger or Illusive class. At, if only taking the wiki numbers into consideration and not how the tech would've shifted over time, 5 turbolaser batteries with 6 point defense ones should be plenty decent alongside hangars capable of supporting 48 fighters alongside some shuttles and other small support vehicles.

Bring it up to modern standards and I could see maybe 6-8 turbolaser batteries mounting 2-3 turbolasers depending on the power generation. To say nothing of other armaments. Really, it'd just be down to how much you could argue/feel reasonable seeing one of these updated to a standard for around 0 BBY in comparison to about ~3960 BBY during the time of the KOTOR games.

In new canon there is a modernised Centurion class battle cruiser active during the post endor period so it might not be so unbelievable since this story is a mixture of canon & legends

Gladiator line ship
VICTORY 2 line ship
interdictor special operations/fleet ops
kontos patrol/fleet support
A carrier like ton falk for fleet support and fighter ops base when hyperdrive fighters built . (mobile patrol base for fighters)

Yup, lots of things could be totally reasonable. Except Cathedral ships, those would likely be in poor taste at best.

Heck, the Keldabe or Cal class could also be argued since the Keldabe has no known measurements...even if Mandalorian. While the in Legends I do believe there was at least one Cal class still floating about, even if it may have been a casino. To say nothing of some just floating about that aren't mentioned because a ship designed around just one big mass driver is rather useless once particle shields become common/developed enough. So, more than plenty of options for official ship designs...even if some like the Keldabe and Victory II frigate have no measurements so they're down to if the author wants to use those for this or not.

just to ask what is the biggest ship that can be built planeside?

couldn't las build 100 corvette yards or maybe 50 frigate yards and then loan or gift to small/medium ship building companies to lure them to minda?
and do we know if large yard can build multiple smaller ships? like one 1km slip could build four 200m ships? (I'm guessing you need gaps for builders to manoeuvre)

las could also gift yards/shop/workshops or any business really to lure more small skilled companies ,especially if he invest in god equipment that these companies would never afford.
although gotta watch out for scammer who may want to dine and dash.

In total, 9 new star systems joined the Guild, totaling 11. There could've been more, make no mistake. With Minda's prosperity, and the upcoming shipyards, many governors were scrambling to secure a spot.
This is starting to look like a Trade League. A powerful thing to have in the quasi-feudal and decentralized structure of the Empire. Just being able to rely on other systems in trade deals is already a massive boon. Not to mention the group pirate/Rebel hunts.
Exclusivity contracts with large companies for large portions of the local market meant the Guild couldn't do its thing.

Slave labor meant local workers and businesses would suffer, which meant the Guild couldn't do its thing.

Excessively high taxes ruined small shops which meant the Guild couldn't do its thing.
"What do you mean we can't join your free market organization if we don't have a free market?"
He even made the designs for Darna's outfit, which features some softer flowing silks that resemble more classical Twi'lek outfits. They look good too. Adds an almost divine air to her when she arrives.

When I walk into a room, people shut up cause I'm the Governor. When Darna walks into a room, people shut up cause she looks like she stepped out of Heaven.

Weirdest part? It's not even about her beauty either, at least not solely. It's a combination of her looks, demeanor, the way she carries herself, and the outfit.
I think I mentioned this before, but less like the Dancer and more like the Club Owner. The one who you smile at while her bouncers trounce you for messing with one of her employees,
Soon, the new Stormtrooper Battalion would be landing here, alongside ISB Agent Thorne. Now, the fact that it was an ISB agent wasn't just scary, it was odd. Hiral? Sending an Agent from an organization that he has no power over?
Imperial politics and unofficial command structure. It is a strange and ponderous beast.
What really worries me is the fucking Stormtroopers. A battalion has at least 800 or so troops! I'm gonna need to feed them, house them, etc… Even if they come in their own ship with their own supplies, that will need to be supplied as well.
Just kick out some citizens from their homes and have the troopers quarter there like nor… oh wait we are trying to be the good bosses
Elections were underway to replace the reps that died,
That has got to be a weird sentence to hear from people on Minda who know how the Empire normally operates.

"You mean there are actual elections when someone suddenly dies? It isn't used as an excuse to make everything centralized under a self-appointed Imperial bureaucrat or officer?"
Problem is, these were requested by Moffs! So it's not like I can say no, cause if I say no, the Moff Hiral gets shit on, and takes it out on me!
The higher ups issuing difficult deadlines from the clients to their subordinates. A tale as old as time.

If you are willing to go for a slightly smaller than the requirements for an Imperial Cruiser, there is always the Bayonet-class light cruiser. It's small at 200 km, outdated by Imperial standards, but it is already in use around the Outer Rim and could do well with an upgrade package.

Plus the Moffs would have experience using the dang things. It is not like one needs a 1000 km long ship production this far out in the Rim. There is also the potential for selling them upgrade packages for the ones they already have.

If you are willing to dig into Kuat's archives you could try to revive and update the Captor-class heavy munitions cruiser. Yes it is decades old and it is technically a Trade Federation design. Worse a majority of crew is droids along with the fighters.

However the design looks vaguely Imperial. Just take the design, and touch up the aesthetics to look more line with regime. Maybe put this "newly invented" model under a new Imperial sounding name. No one has to know you are copying someone else's homework.

As for the dated part, that just gives an excuse to update the armor and armaments. Plenty of new innovations and parts can be added to the design. Maybe enough to bump it up past 400km. Vultures and TIEs share a vaguely similar profile at rest so the hanger adjustments shouldn't be hard.

As for the droid crew? That can probably be dealt with via automation. Originally the Captor has a 4000 B1 crew, but B1s are notoriously individually inefficient. Their work could probably be handled by 100-200 well trained organics with PADs and installing stationary machines.

I think the larger the ship being built, the more canon it should be. I think there are plenty of options in canon, and Imperial designs tend to be iconic enough that you might as well stick with them. Sure, make them more efficient or improve them in some way. Just consider it a different version of the main line.

Not to mention the troopers Shal brought with her. Thankfully, they lived full time on the Heavy Judgement, so I didn't need to worry about housing or nothing.

lmao.

Shal: Minda was attacked. Any minute now, Las will call me for help and I can start working on fixing our relationship!

Las: Thank God nobody on either of my systems has to interact with the incompetent fucktards my sister saddled me with.

When is his mother supposed to review how he is doing? I feel like it was mentioned to be soon.3

Las mentioned she actually should have shown a couple months ago but never did. He ponted out how it was unusual because as far as he knew, she was still alive and was known to always be on time. Then he stopped thinking about her, because he had more important stuff to worry about.

Amusingly enough, by this point of the game, Mama Mola is not a problem any more. While her visit was the impetus for Las to start improving Minda, Mama Mola was a Tarkin toady. With Tarkin dead and posthumously disgraced, she simply doesn't have the political capital to actually do anything to Las. He's so far beyond her reach it's not even funny and if she ever decides to come to Minda and try to fuck with Las, she's not making it out of the planet alive.

Broadside-Class missile cruiser. Carries twelve hundred missiles as a payload for all your Macross capital ship needs.

Gladiator-Class Star Destroyer. I think we have a few of these already, more a general ship than the Broadside with a mix of fighters and light turbolasers.

Neutron Star Bulk Cruiser. At less than three million credits this is a ludicrously inexpensive model, you can buy a dozen of them for the price of one Gladiator. A favorite of the Rebellion, who liked to refit them into fighter carriers.

An amazing cruiser design that's fit in right with the e empires looks and be an amazing addition to any fleet with its versatile role and ability would be the Harrower its an old design that has obviously had its inspiration stolen for the ISDs and VSDs so wouldn't be out of the blue for its design docs to be in Rendilli hands and with its pretty beefy, by modern imperial standards, air wing and improvements to and modernization of its shields and turbo lasers it would be the IDEAL cruiser in an imperial battle line.

At 800 meters its squarely in the Cruiser section so no worry about having to jump to many 1000 meter plus ships that are star destroyers in all but name, and with its iconic design and ability to be refit into whatever you want it has the flexibility to be outfitted as any type of roll a commander could want while streamlining logistics for a fleet.

I maintain that our best bet is a Dreadnaught-class heavy cruiser.
Even out of the box, 3-5 Dreadnaught class are supposed to be able to outgun an Imperial class.
Which is quite impressive for such an old ship class, never mind the optimization and modernization we would be doing.

And as before, its such a common and underestimated design, that they won't draw the attention that any SD line would.
Something useful since he wants to stay under the radar.

Chp-61: A Mountain of Flimsi

Alright that was a really good chapter. I suggest a time skip. With a chapter on his latest sister the ship captain working through the systems getting herself caught up. Making use of the systems already available.
Then a jump to the spy sister. A touch of his mother. Then a blip of sky walker who has been in transit for awhile.

Would be hilarious if his mother already ditched her job after Tarkin died and is currently enjoying the easy life he is looking for.
