Governor's Gambit - Star Wars SI into Imperial Governor

... looks like the plot decided to come too him instead. hope he's prepared for Skywalker family level of drama. maybe he can get trawn to protect him if Vader shows up once a Skywalker with confirmed m-count shows up on Minda.

If Luke does go to Minda then I would assume Obi-wan will follow which means the MC has a 50% chance of Obi-wan stepping in before Vader kills him if he comes looking for Luke.

Oh, man. Now Luke wants to go to Minda.

The SI is just suffering from this Force-damned drama. Imagine when EU characters starts to travel to Midna.

By that point, might as well have a stroke.

...and if Palpies getting curious about what's going on in Minda...

"Mara my child, investigate the Minda system for me, there are... Things that catch my interest going on there..."

9 months later.

"Mara?! No I am not helping you with child support, it was your fault for getting seduced by an engineer. I don't care if he has 'farm boy charm'. I want you back in the field in 3 days, or I'm cancelling your OnlyRutas subscription.... Karkking Skywalkers."

Fuckin' corrupt, grox ass Imperials. And delusional Pirate bitches too big for their britches.

I forget that britches is a word, but I remembered for this specific rhyme.
You have to have some space pirates in fics like these. They make for great plot pushers and disposable antagonists. They are a lot like the standard tactical droids of the CIS, but instead of prattling about the odds, they make up for it with stupidity.

Then, a thought crossed her mind. The rebellion wouldn't like their newest important outpost to be jeopardized like this, and might see fit to intervene. It would be to their benefit, after all. Save the outpost, save the system, cast doubt on the Empire.

It was with this in mind that she sent an encrypted message through a dozen different towers, bouncing and bouncing the signal so much it would take a comms specialist a week to figure out where it went, much less what it said. At the end of its journey, it landed in Sidheths personal terminal.

It's contents a warning. Stay still, or begone. There would be no rebel interference.

Darna let out a sigh, then sipped her drink. Even the sugar couldn't settle her mind, quell the sadness at having just threatened a good friend of hers.

Unfortunately, it had to be done.
I don't think they'd disagree, frankly. Hell, they might even ASSIST given its, well, ANOTHER governor that scenario. The Empire is the enemy of course, and if one is off limits, well there's ANOTHER target ready and waiting.

He smiles. Then winces as a rubber ball comes bouncing out of the piping directly into his face.

"How haven't you melted?" he exclaimed, rubbing his forehead.

The ball did not respond.
The loyal rubber ball returns to its owner! Loyalty shall be repaid with bounces!

Noticing his gloom, the captain gave a small chuckle. "Relax kid. With your skills, I'm sure you could get a good job on a larger ship headed that way. Besides, last I was there, the Governor was tossing a bunch of money at their R&D, and was hiring like crazy. Might get a sweet gig if you're up to the challenge."

Luke considered his words as they parted ways. Minda, huh? It wasn't the Academy, like he'd talked about with his friends, but still. An adventure is an adventure, isn't it? And he would love to meet with the people that came up with this.

His resolve seemed to harden in his heart. Minda, the system that might hold the key to his dreams. He just had to get there.

All of the sudden, his wallet just felt a whole lot emptier.
Hopefully we get to see some more Luke as the occasional viewpoint simply because his adventures leaving Tatooine and traveling the galaxy searching for cool tech while chased mentored by Old Ben Kenobi would be pretty neat.

Oh, no, I'm not mad that there are pirates, it's just the rhyme was there and I decided to use it.

Piraes are actually probably the best small-time villains that Las can face this early on in his career as Governor of Minda, as they're really just mini-boses to someone the other villans in the SW universe.

They're also an excellent source of loot, in addition to the bounties.

Freeing a few slaves will probably help boost his pop too.

Get a shield like the gungans. Have them unfold like that knight Ironman from overwatch.
Nah, the Gungans have their shields because of the unique plasma Naboo has, so unless we want to import it, its not happening.
It's a tech exporter that is constantly expanding with a booming population and economy that has a ship yard in systems that while doesn't function as a full ship yard is still a massive economic hub on its own and it appears to be food and water self sufficient and has an oversized defensive system fleet with its own trade fleet with warships and that's not even getting into the fact that the defence fleet which in any other frontier system is planning to launch offensive actions against pirates it is well past frontier territory and is becoming an economic powerhouse that even with what looks like las's best efforts isn't slowing down
Not really, all his system has right now are the PADS, nothing else is really being exported tech wise, the ship yard is quite small only being able to do some of the smallest vessels, most frontier/outer rim planets in star wars are self-sufficient, and yeah it does have a oversized fleet, its not really a economic powerhouse, the best economy in the surrounding systems? Yes, but a powerhouse fuck no, literally nothing next to the actual powerhouses and not a spec compared to the sector capital, which itself is insignificant compared to its neighbors.

People keep forgetting Las was sent to the most backwater of the backwater, the only places more remote then our system and sector are the Force damned Unknown Regions.

And looks like I'm right its a slighted Imperial.

Commander Kaela Grant was a wildcard, but a necessary one at this point in time.

And though Ife would never say it aloud, Kaela was a wildcard she liked.

But only a little.
Ohh myyy.
Seems there's a game going on for Las's affection.

I'm hoping we see a Ben view point trying to figure out what the fuck is going on with luke.

So have the PDAs actually accelerated tech development? Because they seem to have increased education.
I would assume that they have simply shortened wasted time due to being smaller and more portable ,kind of in the same way that smartphones/tablets decreased the time people spent turning on a PC to check the Internet for something...

Though if there are engineering variants available, those most likely also help more with new techies for finding the exact model of the parts they are scanning than anything truly groundbreaking compared to other available tech. A very good utility and timesaving device but not nessesarily increasing education in the field.

I didn't say get a gungan shield but to make one like a gungan shield.

Make a shield like Reinhardt. The madalorians already have those energy shield bucklers.

If Luke goes to Minda, Will Ben follow him? Seems like he's gonna be a great mechanic just like his dad maybe better, but not evil and stuff

I don't see why he wouldn't since the main reason he was on the planet was to protect and hide Luke. It's now a question of if he tries to stop him from going, tag along with him as a "favor" to Luke's Uncle, or quietly shadow Luke on his journey to Minda.

Well, if Luke goes there, there are a few path to use.
First take him asuming he is usefull in whatever rol he wants and be actually Nice. Just another loyal citicens to him and nothing more.
If by some reason Like Start learning the force we know he is to usless to hide it , and then just sell him to high rank as a force User there.
If he does nothing just good for MC

Don't feel too bad. Warning someone not to jump in a pit full of crocodiles is still considered being a good friend.
'Of course, my beautiful wife is correct as always! With the death of the Mindan governor, that pesky system will soon be ours for the taking. And, of course, the Admiral of the sector fleet is as flaky as ever. It won't be long before we can call the Myto Arrow our very own Kingdom!'
Well at least the pirates can get lured into a field engagement. Funny how for all the administrative genius Las is, military matters were handled by his subordinates.

This means the pirate fleet is in for rude surprise when Las going down doesn't affect their military strength much. Even more when Las wakes up and proceeds to accidentally shoot Imperial morale up sky high.
"We lack the evidence, as any confession given under torture or duress is suspect at best. The Moff also dislikes having such things brought to him, so he would likely dismiss the case outright."

Grant continues to stew, but eventually controls herself. "When the governor awakens, which should be soon, I'll inform him. The next course of action can be determined later, once the situation has been evaluated."

"Of course. I'll reinforce the Edin-Minda lane in the meanwhile." Almost sighing in relief while she sent the message, she could only be glad for Grant's considerable professionalism. Her ability to refine the beast within was remarkable.
Don't worry, there is plenty of things systems can do to each other without getting the big boys involved. Such as:

"Oh I am sorry. Due to the increase in Pirate activity in that direction, I am afraid trade towards your system is going to slow down."

"Sorry we are going to have to run extensive, time consuming, and potentially ship damaging inspections on all ships coming from Edin. An uptick in smuggling has been detected."

"Unfortunately due to receiving better offers, some of your trade contracts will not be renewed this coming galactic quarter."

"Due to preparations for an upcoming anti-piracy campaign, this hyperlane route will be closed to civilian traffic for the time being. What's that? It's peak harvesting season on Edin? Well we apologize for the inconvenience."

His resolve seemed to harden in his heart. Minda, the system that might hold the key to his dreams. He just had to get there.

All of the sudden, his wallet just felt a whole lot emptier.
Well put poor governed is going to have Skywalker Drama on his hands.
May the Force help him ( more like laugh in his face 😆)
