Governor's Gambit - Star Wars SI into Imperial Governor

Question how wide spread was the Dreadnought 2's use? Was it used by the wider Empire and alliance? And compared to the original how long are/were they in use?
Its a fan creation for this fic and at this point in the story is currently in the midst of its first production run.
My WH40k side wants the designer to include a ramming prow for obvious purposes. Its named a "Dreadnought" for a damn reason, we're putting that ramming prow in.
I could see pirates or rebels crazy enough doing it. Hell, feel free to write an omake if you want. While not as common over here, the folks on SB love that shit.
The biggest question would be if @Freefaller is going to go with the Disney Canon 1 year or EU Legends 15 post Endor fall of the Empire war... i know i have stated this before but 1 year was way to short a time for a huge monolith even if fracturing like the Empire to fall to the small in comparison Rebel Alliance. There are many things that are wrong with the Empire that as can be seen in the way it fractures in the EU, but for it to fall in 1 year like Disney portrayed it did would mean that in the time that Palpatine was in rule of it he didn't set up any infrastructure and we know that he actually did on all levels where it mattered in order to have control of the Galaxy.

This can only mean that Disney must have made it so that said infrastructure was so fragile and weak that without old prune face in command it all instantly collapsed because all Imperial Governors, Moffs, Generals and Admirals clearly where all incompetent to a criminal degree... which we know they actually aint, they may be dangerously ambitious and corrupt but incompetent they are not as incompetence was deadly in the Empire, being incompetent would sooner or later see you getting a visit from Lord Vader at some point with you not surviving it or having your rival taking you out in order to secure a better position for themselves.

The EU version is much superior as in that one the only reason for why the Empire truly falls after Endor during a period of 15 years mind you is because of the wildly ambitious Imperial Officers are busy fighting amongst themselves while also fighting the Rebel Alliance/New Republic... heck this is the only reason as for why the New Republic is able to establish itself and last long enough to gain the strength needed to become a credible threat like they do in the end which results in the Imperials consolidating thanks to Admiral Natasi Daala, something she was only able to do by gathering the remaining Warlords at the time when the NR has become a credible threat and killing them all except Gilad Pallaeon and consolidating their forces into one and launching a massive attack on the NR that ends up failing.
I will be going mostly with the legends Warlord period where the Empire fractures upon Palpatines death leading to competing warlord states rather than a unified Empire.

In that case consdiering how you seem to feel the burn from the fact that you story have grown so large i would start to set up a storyboard doc if you haven't already where you create dossiers on all characters and rate them accordingly towards importance and how much "screen time" they will have as i do love this you are in for the long haul. Heck so far this is good enough in my opinion that some of the officials down at Lucasarts would enjoy your story as it is afterall, would be willing to bet my left nut that both Dave Filoni and Sam Witwer would low key enjoy it.

BTW still hoping for a eventual visit from Darth Vader to the Myto Sector in which he ends up stopping by at Minda, would be so hilarious since Moff Mola might be one of the few Imperials he would actually like and perhaps even praise... would probably ask for a custom Whirlwind that he can take for a spin which would be awesome as he is one of the few Pilots in the galaxy that could and most likely would survive disabling all of it's limiters and truly show what it's capable of.

It would more than likely remind him of his days of pod racing, or even when he first flew the N-1 starfighter. Though it could just as likely remind him of the first time fling the mark 2 jedi starfighter.

Idk what you mean. This is an ongoing story so that is yet to be seen. The dreadnought II isn't lore accurate.
I wasn't saying it was in lore, I was talking about it in a future sense.

I wasn't talking about it in a current sense but in a future sense, as some of the previous dossiers made it clear that the designs would really spread beyond Myto, and the original dreadnought design is decades to centuries old(depending on Disney or legends) so I was wondering how far in the future it was still in use

Hopefully this time the Dreadnought II would be accepted outside of Mola's domain, a Dreadnought model wherein they can operate more without having to sacrifice crews that could operate an ISD instead

I think I see the confusion. The dossiers are not from the future, they are modern day, meaning this dossier is a review of the ship as it has just come off the production line, and not a dossier made decades from this point in the story.

The funniest part in my mind, is really HAD there been a clear winner earlier not only WOULD the empire likely have beaten the Rebels but whomever won would likely be thanking them in there minds for removing that crazy old man Papa Palatine.

The Katana fleet that was. Made about 46bby modernized the dreadnought design and used slave rigging. Artificial sabotage via super virus induced crazy caused the fleet to make a random hyperspace jump. The whole crew was lost and the automation and slave rigging was blamed since people didn't know what caused the incident and blamed thhe biggest factor that stuck out they knew, well, combined with the artificial sabotage folks. Calling this the Dreadnought 2 sounds like someone trying hard to pretend they hadn't already done this before before people got scared and skiddish around the modernized platform.
Ignoring the fact the rebellion also had two dreadnought upgrade varients.. the widespread parts and numbers make it a unique ecosystem that keeps feeding itself logistically to the point in legends they still haad and used the dreadnought class ships 150+aby years after the battle of Yavin

DOCUMENT SUMMARY | Technical Evaluation and Operational Audit of the AT-SW Storm Walker
ISSUING AUTHORITY | Sector Army Command, Ordnance and Armor Division
AUTHORIZATION | Ministry of Military Logistics and Development
CLASSIFICATION | Restricted Tactical Data

SECTION I DEVELOPMENT HISTORY AND DOCTRINE ALIGNMENT
The AT-SW Storm Walker was designed by MynockArms to resolve a major logistical bottleneck within sector deployment forces. While sector military doctrine prioritizes concentrated firepower, the standard patrol vessel of the sector, the Arbiter, lacks the overhead bay dimensions required to carry standard All Terrain Armored Transports.
To bridge this operational gap, MynockArms developed a compact heavy assault walker engineered specifically to fit within the storage decks of Arbiter class ships. By eliminating the massive troop bay found on traditional transports, engineers dedicated the vast majority of internal hull volume to high-output power generation and heavy composite armor plating. The result is a walker that delivers the frontal destruction of an AT-AT while operating from a far more versatile footprint.

Through extensive component modularity, MynockArms achieved a 31 percent parts compatibility rating with existing AT series walker lines. Because the Imperial Army utilizes a wide variety of walker frames, MynockArms sourced existing drives, hydraulic linkages, and control actuators directly from established supply depots. This high level of shared hardware drastically reduces maintenance overhead and simplifies field repairs across sector garrisons.

SECTION III TACTICAL PERFORMANCE AND COMBAT UTILITY
The AT-SW Storm Walker brings devastating firepower to ground operations. Its primary forward armament replicates the heavy chin cannons and temple blasters of the standard AT-AT layout. To enhance close range defense, MynockArms integrated an additional chin mounted dual laser cannon turret optimized for rapid anti-infantry sweep fire. Mounted on either side of the cockpit are two 20 tube general purpose warhead launchers, capable of firing high explosive, concussion, or smoke munitions to break enemy fortifications.

The power plant generates ample energy to drive heavy armor plating and achieve top speeds of 80 km/h (50 mph), allowing the Storm Walker to advance alongside lighter mechanized units.
To support field command structures, MynockArms offers a specialized Command Variant priced at 132,000 credits. This model accommodates a third crew member and installs high-grade sensor arrays alongside long-range communication gear, transforming the walker into an armored forward command post for tactical directors.

SECTION IV OPERATIONAL LIMITATIONS AND VULNERABILITY ASSESSMENT
Sector Army Field Audit

The AT-SW fulfills its primary assault role with distinction, though commanders must account for its strict crew footprint and optical sensor dependencies in urban combat zones.
While the AT-SW fulfills the sector requirement for heavy firepower, the sacrifice of internal troop space creates operational limits. The vehicle cannot act as a troop carrier. In emergency situations, up to ten soldiers can fit inside the cramped engine corridors, but this lacks safety harnesses and creates severe hazards for both the crew and the passengers.

Additionally, crew protection requirements led to narrow, heavily armored viewport slits. To navigate and target effectively, the crew relies on an external 360 degree optical camera suite mounted around the hull. In intense fire fights or close-quarters combat, hostile fire or explosive shrapnel can damage these external cameras, forcing the crew to rely on degraded sensors or restricted manual vision.

That's a pretty stupid argument, ngl. 'Shrapnel could damage the cameras!' Yes, and what would happen if instead of a camera it was a viewport with the driver physically looking out of it? Even if it was a periscope style system it's not like mirrors are significantly less vulnerable to that kind of thing than cameras are. If anything cameras are superior for basically any scenario other than EMP or Ion weapons (which would probably disable the vehicle anyway) because you can put more redundancies on without significantly affecting the protection of the vehicle

But the Empire dont give a rat's ass about normal soldiers, if they die they die, but a camera thats expensive.....cant have that

Its not saying that the cameras are a bad idea, simply that they are a thing that can be exploited, a vulnerability, a cost that was worth the benefit of the cameras.

Thanks for the chapter. Good story as always.
Love the Storm Walker design

This looks like complaining just for the sake of it. You needed assault firepower; no transports, just use another vehicle, unicorn all purposes perfect vehicles don't exist. IFV carry troops, and any firepower is an extra that is nice if it can be put.
Cameras are more reliable than windows that compromise the hull armor, and if you get close enough for enemies to target and destroy your cameras, they can target your windows and kill your pilots, and you have more serious problems than limited visibility, like infantry anti-armor being close enough to misison kill or destroy the vehicle.

Hm, though it could be very specific, is there protocol against force user's? Like let's said a patrol of human(alien) with Droid walk around, while the human act as mediator the Droid gives additional muscle, but if said force user used the mind trick to make human go against his previous decision like let's say let them go while he previouly wanted to question them, and suddenly allowed them go, could Droid in that case be used as safety protocol and call out this matter?

Las implementing Master / Stranger protocols would be amusing, especially if he called it that but regretted doing so

Huh, now that is a good choice for a flagship for the average fleet in the Myto Sector. Large amounts of cannons to deal with other capital ships, a full squadron TIEs for defense against small ships, room for a battalion's worth of troops which should be enough to reinforce most Frontier and Settled systems which are the majority in the sector. Most notably not complete overkill like a Star Destroyer so you can actually afford to build a bunch and keep these supplied entirely within the Outer Rim.

Oh goodie, Las' forces now have mini Warhound Titans. 123,000 a pop is a steal for the firepower it brings to the table. That is the equivalent of two good tank in terms of pricing. Well worth it.

Now we're entering proper mechwarrior territory

Now let's make it more upright and more dakka with arms. Myto is about to become a nightmare for ground engagements, and is gonna force the New Republic to consider staying back or risk the public backlash of orbital bombardment

Yeah I thought it would be more expensive but apparently the At-At is only 150k
Yeah at a glance the price tag for the AT-AT seems like a 22 meter tall triumph of Imperial might and economies of scale. Until you look closer and realize that it is a superheavy tank with a crew compartment that had its repulsorlift exchanged with 4 technologically advanced stilts. Suddenly that 150k price tag starts making a lot more sense.

Trading impracticality for intimidation value and height advantage. Lot of Imperial design philosophy is like that. The AT-ST chicken stomping infantry, the Star Destroyer being able to descend upon cities, the Death Star is the ultimate height advantage and intimidation attempt by Palpatine.
