Governor's Gambit - Star Wars SI into Imperial Governor

one of the best Star Wars fics I've read in a while
If you are looking for a few quests. Check out these,

The Pentastar alliance, Imperial Officer, and Alignment, ones are a nice basis for understanding this type of situation. Might give the author some ideas for when and if the Empire collapses.

May also help others understand the sheer scale most of us are trying to impart on fleet sizes and economies at a galactic level and why a logistical and economic base is crucial.

The butterflies from this fic will be insane, even from just the improved targeting software in helmets, due to adoption cost being a mere update. I can see the Rebel infiltration/assault of Scarif completely failing, meaning no plans, so Yavin gets space dusted and Rebelion extinguished.

Our guy making all these plans for the DS destruction and it never happens because of a little change by him🤣
You forgot about bothans. A lot of bothans actually. Kyle katarn too.

But i disagree. Whatever changes he made in the timeline, the force, the plot will move on. Force decided that luke will destroy death star, and restore the balance and... well, be the golden boy. And he will be so, regardless of some competent governor in the boonies.

Firstly, Apple is evil ... Samsung too, just generally speaking

but on the topic, apple and Samsung are bad examples as they have like 15%of the phone markets each, meanwhile there would be corporations in the SW galaxy that would be considered massive in their fields whilst having less than 1% of the global(galactic) market share. That's just what we can expect from a galactic scale nation and just the cost of being a galaxy of tens of thousands of settled planets and hundreds of thousands of minor colonies, if not millions.

They would have huge parts of the market in certain areas (planets, sectors, etc.). The point is that they are large enough to afford their own manufacturing facilities and order custom components from up-stream manufacturers - components that are built to their own specifications.

and while you are right about how apple and Samsung purposefully program their tech to be incompatible while it physically is still quite compatible, (though thankfully there are attempts to make this practice entirely illegal in the EU at least) it doesn't mean that every company in star wars does this, or that explicitly colony making packages would be able to put such tech in. In fact I could see such packages being explicitly marketed to be able to work with all galactic standard ports, power generation facilities, ect.

What would be the advantage for a corporation to spend time and effort on making and using standard components that can be mixed and matched with products from other manufacturers? That takes time and effort and slows down innovation, because the company can't just arbitrarily decide to rev a component/API. There is a reason why virtually nobody out there makes systems like these. Every company wants to stand out and make their own tweaks to their hardware and software, which is problematic from a standardization perspective.

Also, physical compatibility means very little when you are talking about electronics - it's much more about the internal functionality and how it works/interferes with other components. E.g. there are probably tens of thousands of different 8-pin chips - they all do different things.

Ok, building the stuff locally (on a minor farming world with less than a million people) is in no way, shape or form more economical than having corporation that has economies of scale on a galactic level/market doing it. This is in regards to factories, mining on stations and refineries. Obviously the modularity would come at the cost of it having a lower service life than a non modular design, but star wars tech is insanely durable and longlasting compared to our own. So this wouldn't even be an issue for at least afew years, and he is only caring about his 2 year deadline right now.

Define "stuff" in this context. Does it make sense to buy pre-made large space station modules instead of building them locally? Sure. Buildings or building components? No. Custom computing devices? No. Custom storm trooper helmet hardware? No. HVAC systems? Yes. Pipes? Maybe.

Shipping is honestly a minor cost for them considering the size of the acclimator and their new trade ships and not having to hire a cargo hauler to go to the end of nowhere to pick up the packages from the nearest factory or storage facility (which pretty much everyone in those industries would presumably have somewhere nearby for supplying the colonies, mabie in the mid rim or mabie even having one storage point per each major sector of space).

Shipping is a factor of fuel and time. And use of the ship/transport. And wages of the people doing the packaging, loading, shipping, and unloading. Depending on the component, its size, and whether it was designed to be modular and shipped out that could be worth it or not.

Really like the angle of this premise, SW universe has so much more to offer than the speashul sith/Jedi.

Granted, Lazer swords and space wizards are cool AF, but being dumped in a backwater and faking it til you make it (or crash and burn), and building the narrative of what constitutes as space peasants is fun.

As for the military there are plenty of ways to go about expanding and developing the military through programs like the real Future Soldier Preparatory Course.

3: Three ships in particular. The Carrack-class Light Cruiser, the Quasar-class cruiser-carrier (followed IMMEDIATELY by the Ton-Falk-class escort-carrier) and the Broadside-class cruised kdb-1 (or maybe scale up to the Peltast-class Star Destroyer if Thrawn is willing to share). You don't have the manpower, funds, logistics or infrastructure for even a handful of Venators, but Thrawn's success with other ships considered 'lesser' by Tarkin Doctrine shows those are honestly overrated. The key to victory is efficient usage of combined arms tactics, and these ships more than provide.

There would be two layers of a formation; the first would be the Carracks in the front, specifically the turbo laser heavy variant. These things are INFAMOUSLY durable and capable of punching out a MUCH larger ship if they work as a small group. But their true purpose would be using their frankly 'ASTONISHING' speed for a ship of their size to close in and knife-fight with an enemy fleet. They are durable and hard hitting enough that then enemy couldn't afford to ignore them, they would NEED to put attention on them so they don't get gutted, especially since their tractor beams when used in groups would mess EVERYTHING up. And that's where the second layer of formation would come in. Because far in the backline would be the Quasars and Broadsides offering all their ranged support, protected by a number of Carracks with an anti-starfighter loadout. Quasars are meant for one thing - STARFIGHTERS. Lots and lots of starfighters, deploying screens of them to support the Carracks by countering enemy starfighters as needed to support the Carracks and send out bombers to hit openings. The Ton Falk is straight up better in every way, so you should probably scale up to that, but it doesn't come out until the destruction of the first death star, if I recall correctly. Lastly would be the Broadsides. Despite the name, these ships are HEAVILY front loaded, capable of firing huge salvos of ship grade concussion missiles, effectively allowing it to function as a sniper ship capable of reaching out and touching an enemy ship from a long distance, with one HELL of a payload. Best part, all of these are cheap and plentiful enough making a small fleet of them would be easy.

I would say don't even bother with the Quasar. It's inferior in every conceivable way except price and crew requirement to the Ton-Falk, which should actually already be in production. Depending on which continuity you go with, it's either been in use since 14 BBY (Disney Canon) or it's been recently introduced around 2 BBY (Legends). By the time they need a dedicated carrier, they'll be able to afford it. Or hell, cut it out entirely and just pick up a Vindicator-class Heavy Cruiser. He could technically afford a brand new one right now (they run about 43 Million credits new), they actually require less crew than the Ton-Falk (~2,500 compared to the T-F's ~3,500), and can be configured to carry anywhere from 24 all the way up to 72 starfighters/bombers. Meaning you could have a ship with heavy cruiser levels of durability and firepower (25 light turbolasers, 20 light quad turbolasers, 10 point defense laser cannons, 20 point defense ion cannons, 3 tractor beam projectors), with the same fighter complement as a dedicated carrier, all on a platform that is fairly ubiquitous and cheap in the Empire.

Otherwise, picking up a Carrack or three would be smart in the long run, And maybe a few Marauder-class Corvettes, since they are pretty much ideal patrol and anti-piracy starships that are cheap, have very low crew requirements, carry a squadron of starfighters and a shuttle, and are easily customizeable (the Rebellion converted a bunch of them into pocket missile boats in Legends, while other factions gave theirs varying loadouts). Broadsides might be a bit inefficient for now. While large scale missile boats have a role to play, they are expensive to maintain keep supplied. That seems like a project for a year or two down the line.

As for Venators, no, just no. They suck, they've always sucked, and they're always going to suck. They combine the underwhelming firepower of a Dreadnought-class Heavy Cruiser with the underwhelming armor scheme and structural strength you'd expect from a very long, hollow wedge with zero spinal support. They are a classic case of a ship trying to do too much, and sucking at all of it. For a ship its size and cost, it is hideously inefficient as a carrier. Don't believe that "492 starfighter capacity" garbage; that's KDY corporate propaganda at its finest. If you actually analyze the amount of space in those hangars (and we have a LOT of footage from TCW showing the interior in detail), it'd be lucky to house a quarter of that number at any level of combat readiness. And that assumes you've stripped out everything else, so no landing craft, ground troops or vehicles unless you want to cut down the fighter complement even more.

As a battleship, if falls flat on its face, literally being matched by the significantly smaller, older and cheaper Dreadnought-class in total firepower (the main difference being the Venator has almost all of its firepower tied up in its 8 twin heavy turbolasers, while the Dreadnought spreads it out among its 20 quad light turbolaser and 10 dual medium turbolasers). About the only firepower advantage the Venator has over a Dreadnought is that it carries a whole lot more point defense mounts and has a few proton torpedo launchers. Otherwise, the thing is a massive waste of time and money that could be better spent on either ships dedicated to a specific role, or any one of the many, many just plain better generalist starships out there in Star Wars.

If you want to invest in a Star Destroyer that's not complete trash, but don't want to deal with the headaches or expenditures that come with the Imperial-class, go for the Victory-class. A Vic-I if you want a solid frontline warship that can also act as a long-range missile boat, or a Vic-II if you want a brawler made to wade into the thick of things with its powerful energy armament. Hell, since he just mentioned that he has 50 million credits in the metaphorical bank, that means that if he didn't care about keeping a safety net, he could afford to buy a new Victory-II right now. How he would crew the thing, I don't know. He'd need to find another 6,000 or so Naval personnel in a hurry, but he could technically afford the ship itself immediately if he was so-inclined.

If we're talking cruiser weight craft I'd go for a Vindicator over a Ton Falk as the MC. The reason why is that I wouldn't be planning to push out of the star system with that tiny garrison fleet so all my starfighters can be kept on stations or airbases when not flying. A a Vindicator provides far more firepower to chase off the more ambitious or foolish pirate bands.

Well, he does plan on sending out protected merchant convoys at some point, so some ability to carry fighters abroad would not be amiss, but honestly a few Marauders and Assassin Corvettes could handle that more or less perfectly. The Marauders would provide some heavy firepower and fighter support, while the Assassins are excellent anti-starfighter platforms that also have the kind of firepower to take on most pirate ships. Tack on one of the Arquitens he already has if he's worried about larger pirate bands, but most threats his convoys could reasonably expect to encounter are going to be corvette-scale or smaller. Only a few of the most successful pirates ever manage to gather a force the size and power of what just attacked the system.

Not to mention that he isn't going to send out his flagship to escort merchant convoys. Not when he will need it to keep the planet safe. We just saw what nearly happened when he sent his largest warship away for too long. I doubt he will repeat that again anytime soon.

Chp-10: New Reforms, Old Friends New
Chp-10: New Reforms, Old Friends

Holy shit, I'm not dead.

I was sitting in my office a week after the pirate attack, still having the occasional panic attacks. Pirates were a foregone conclusion out here, and their attacks were expected at one point or another, but I expected something smaller.

Maybe a few modified cargo ships, not actual fucking warships. Thankfully, none of them had turbolasers, but with roughly thirty-six laser cannons the Cumulus class is nothing to scoff at for a ship of its size.

It was the closest I had come to death in either life, and it scared me. The whole time I was in the bunker, I was contemplating running the fuck away. I had my escape plan all ready, I could've done it, but the odds were just enough in our favor for me to stay. Just barely.

The aftermath had been a significantly easier time for me. I had a memorial site built in one of the new public parks, a pillar of mismatched metal plates and melted plastoid armor, the only remnants of the starfighters and armor plates of those that had fallen, their names engraved into the metal with gold lettering.

I gave a speech at the memorials reveal, about the sanctity of life, unity, and so on and so forth. It was a solemn affair, and the first time I had ever put effort into a speech that didn't involve saving my own skin in some way.

After all that though, came the fun part. Of the three corsairs, two were captured. The originally boarded one, and the one that had jury-rigged an ion torpedo missile tube. The latter had its shields broken and a stray shot detonated the remaining ion torpedoes, frying its systems. After that, its friend tried to run.

Emphasis on tried.

It was annihilated by the Resolution's assault, its engines destroyed by the proton torpedoes of an ARC-170 and leaving it unable to escape. The escape pods it launched were all retrieved, and many pirates were captured.

The two corsairs were currently sitting in the Imperial Yards in orbit, being slowly repaired and refitted. They would make good patrol ships, if nothing else. The light freighters that were captured held little use, and so I had them cleaned, repaired, and put them up for sale.

There were always merchants coming through the system, so there might be someone willing to buy. If they aren't all gone by the end of the year, I can just have them scrapped for parts anyways.

As for the captured pirates? Well, there weren't that many, but it seems that Commander Grant had the presence of mind to not immediately rip the Twi'leks lekku off and hang his corpse with it. Instead, he was taken into a deep, dark room in the garrison, and no one in the garrison had a good night's sleep for three days. After that, the only things that came out of that room were Grant, and a foul smelling bag that was disposed of shortly after.

From what I can only assume to have been a horrible length of torture, information was dredged up. The marauders had been contracted to raid Minda for its resources and deliver them to their employers. While the average grunt was unaware of who had hired them, and was just there for the creds, the captains had been contacted by some people who were paying them for a job done for the will of their "Lady". There's only one "Lady" I know of that is also a crime lord of sorts.

Crimson Dawn. Fuck.

They had been a fairly powerful organization under Maul, but after his death they were believed to have been defeated for good. Thing is, that's not entirely true. Lady Qi'ra, former lover of Han Solo himself, had become the leader of the Dawn after Maul's death and was planning a resurgence. Her ultimate goal? The destruction of the Sith.

Normally I wouldn't have cared for some Sith hating crime lord. Sith are generally bad news for everyone. Sure, I had my problems with how the Jedi worked, but they weren't trying to kill everything all the time. The problem is that the Empire is run by Sith, and therefore I am a Sith lackey, and therefore an appropriate target for the Dawn.

The pirates had been contracted to cause chaos, but also to secure more resources for the Dawn. And what better system to do that than a lightly defended backwater Imperial planet.

Luckily, I doubted that a retaliatory strike was going to happen. Not only is this a backwater, but it was currently 2BBY, meaning that Qi'ra had not been in control of the Dawn for long, with the planned resurgence happening around 3ABY, and their defeat not long after. This means that the Dawn is still in hiding, and this strike is one of many that are happening across the galaxy, all of them looking like standard pirate raids, all of them funneling resources to the Crimson Dawn.

Now, did I have hard proof that this was Crimson Dawn? No, I don't. But the timeline fits, so the chance is higher than average.

Regardless, I try to push it out of my mind. With the arrival of the Rationale, along with the three Imperial Nebulons to help reinforce the system, the chance of such an attack happening again is rare.

Instead, I focused on the future. Specifically, expansion.

I was currently within my office, looking over the stacks of papers that had been delivered to me. They were my copies of the new reforms that were being put into place. The political system I had set up was being revamped, with minor and major councils in each region. The minor councils would be held in the sub-nexus cities to manage it and its area, with a minor council in the Nexus city proper to manage the city as a whole(each councilor of a Nexus city is chosen from its various districts). Major councils would be made up of representatives that were voted on by the minor councils and sent to the Nexus to represent their sub-nexus in the greater decision making process. Finally, each of these Major councils will send a representative to Accordia, where I speak with them once a week to announce new changes, gain a better understanding of the problems each region faces, etc…

Thankfully, politics weren't the only thing I was reforming. I had instituted various longer-term projects. None of them would be costing much right now, and in fact many were not going to be started for some time, as to ensure that the build up is slower.

These projects were varied, and included things such as:
  • A network of trains, both passenger and cargo, to simplify inter/intracontinental transport and keep the number of ships flying about to a minimum.
  • An expansion to the Guild, turning into the Imperial Guild of Industry, Commerce and Protection, which now allows mercenaries to sign up, post their services so that miners, cargo haulers and the like can more easily hire them. It also comes with a rating system and review board, so mercenaries have an easier time cultivating a reputation and people can find reliable protection. It even comes with a selection of courses that can be attended for a small fee, offering insight into how mercenary work within the guild and the Mindan system functions.
  • An "academy". Not a real Imperial Academy that trains StormTroopers and the like, but a militia academy that allowed people to volunteer to join the MPDF or MSDF(Mindan System Defense Fleet). It offered training, classes, with both retired clone officers and the occasional active duty officer teaching classes, giving seminars, and more. It was a way to increase the amount of active duty Navy/Army personnel, without actually having to requisition more personnel from the Navy proper.
  • Cities were being expanded with new apartment complexes and the like, specifically to handle the more steady influx of colonists that were being ported in.
  • The Acclamator, which had finally been named to the Beacon of Minda, finished it's retrofits and was now a pure passenger ship, with the sole purpose of picking up new colonists from various planets who wanted a new life. It could carry up to 30,000 passengers, but I had ordered the number restricted to only 5,000 per trip, the rest of the space used for cargo. While I need more people, if the population grows faster than I can manage I'll end up with substantial problems.
  • Contracts with the major farming companies and unions across Ugea were signed, for the express purpose of helping develop more land for farming. Much of it was going to be farmed by some of the incoming colonists, who I was paying the companies/unions to train in farming. This would increase food supply, allowing population growth to increase.
  • The R&D department was also increased by a decent margin, and focused mostly on software updates. Upgrades to the PDAs, better software for the ARCs and V-Wings, and most importantly, a proper fucking update to my terminal so I could organize things better. Never thought I would cry when seeing Microsoft Excel.

There were more projects, but they were for the future. These were the projects that could be started now with a lower cost, and later help fund the bigger pieces, like the proposed manufacturing plants, new colonies, and more.

A beep on my data pad alerted me. I checked it, and sighed. I had to fly out to the refinery to give a congratulatory speech for the security forces there. Apparently they had locked down the hangar, closed the doors, and trapped the pirates in there while they had a repulsorlift laser cannon gun them down. Absolutely no casualties, quite impressive.

And so, I sent my affirmative signal and threw on my coat, heading towards the landing pad where my L-99 was waiting. At least I could fly in style.

Now, if only I could get a vacation.

Darna Sabrir
Minda System, Ugea, Accordia, Rusty Refit Orbital Yard

Darna was exhausted.

Ever since the Mindan Raid, the governor's office had been inundated with requests for meetings, speeches, memorials, interviews, and more. Not to mention the multitude of companies asking about increased security and such

Honestly, it was a testament to the governor's abilities that the people were comfortable enough to ask him for things this way. Any other system might see petitioners shot.

Thankfully, the new Nebulon-Bs along with the mercenary section of the Guild opening seemed to address most of the concerns, and a touching speech from the governor about the importance of living a good life to honor those who died in the defense of Minda was enough to assuage the remaining questions and complaints. Aside from the journalists. They were relentless.

The governor had approved her day off, and she was trying to enjoy it. She had decided to visit her friend Sidheth up in the orbital scrap yard.

So, as she stepped off the shuttle and into the common area of the station, she scanned her surroundings. The place was kept clean, with signs indicating the directions of things like admin, lodgings, food court, and more.

As she did that, she heard a voice call out.

"Darna!"

She turned, and spotted her friend approaching her. Dark skinned and bushy haired, her human compatriot always seemed to have a spark of life in her eyes.

"Sid-"she paused, then "Talia! How are you!" Sidheth clearly noted her slip up, but shrugged it off.

As they hugged, Darna heard her whisper "Follow me. My room is secure"

And to her room they went, passing by a bevy of people throughout the station. The orbital station itself was equipped with 12 bays, each of them corresponding with a size designation, those being small, medium and large. Small bays could fit fighters, mediums were meant for light and medium freighters, while large bays dealt with bulk freighters and frigates. Three of the bays, one of each type, were reserved solely for Imperial use, with that section of the yard being staffed solely by Imperial personnel.

Entering an elevator, they were taken further up the yard's rings. It was split into three rings. The bottom ring managed all the light and medium bays, and the middle ring was for the large bays, along with the area visitors had access to. The top ring was where station personnel lived, and was the smallest of the rings.

Finally, they reached Sidheth's suite, located at the very top of the central tower that connected the rings together. As the owner and administrator of the building, she had the nicest accommodations on board.

Despite that, her quarters were not all that lavish. Being a tad larger than Darna's quarters in the Capitol, the apartment was nicely decorated. A nice central area was fitted with a kitchen, large L shaped couch with a holo table in front, and a decently large viewscreen mounted on the wall. The floor was a stark grey metal floor, but there were tasteful orange and black rugs that made up for it.

Branching off from the center room were three doors. One led in a hallway, which itself led to the master bedroom and a guest bedroom, along with the bathroom. The other door led to an office space, while the last led to a large walk-in closet.

Darna whistled. "You have yourself quite the nice room here, Sidheth. How did you get something this nice?"

Her friend flashed her a sheepish smile. "Honestly, things moved very quickly, and with the additional funding we were able to buy a prebuilt modular station. It came with this room for the lead administrator, and since I'm technically the owner…"

Darna smirked. "So you just happened to luck into the nicest suite in orbit?"

"It wasn't on purpose, I swear!"

"I thought you were more frugal? What would Vilil say if he saw you living the life?"

"Darnaaaaa…" she whined. "Please don't tell Vilil, he'll give me that look, and then I'll feel guilty!"

"Then start slumming it, sister."

They looked at each other, before bursting out into laughter. Darna hadn't missed much from her stint in the Rebellion, but she had missed her friend.

As they sat down on the couch, the conversation turned to work.

"...and he turns to me, looking dead tired, and said "there's more?!" as I handed him another stack of paperwork! Never seen the governor look so fed up!"

They had been talking about their respective lives for hours, when Darnas positino actually came into question.

"So, you seem to like your job."

Darna sighed. She saw this coming. "Yes, Sidheth, I do. And I'm not joining the rebellion again. I already risked my job referring you to the governor. On top of that, this is one of the few places where there isn't a reason to rebel! No oppressive regime, no human centrism, no beatings. Just… progress."

"I'm not denying that" said Sidheth, "Even Vilil agrees. Minda is stable, too stable for an effective rebellion. Any attacks here would just turn the populace against us. And with this scrap yard here, we're actually able to make a difference for the wider rebellion. We just want you to be a part of that difference."

Darna scoffed. "And what would you have me do? Spy on my boss, my coworkers, my friends? I've finally, after so long, found a place that accepts me, treats me well, trusts me. A place I can call home. I won't betray that trust."

Sidheths eyes seemed to glimmer with pain. "We trust you, Darna. The rebellion trusts you."

"Only long enough to put a blaster in my hand and tell me to shoot"

"You know there's more to it than that!"

She shook her head. "Just barely, Sidheth. Just barely. But here? In Minda? I don't have to fight for my life every day just to be treated with dignity and respect. I'm done, Sidheth. I've been done for years, and I refuse to get roped back in when my life is going well."

Sidheth winced, but didn't say anything for a while. Finally, she spoke up.

"I know things are good here, and I'm not really asking you to join back up. I'm not even asking you to spy! Not really. Vilil wanted me to get that, for sure, but I know you're not about that life anymore. All I ask is that if you hear something, something big, that won't get you in trouble, give us a heads up? Please? It's all I ask."

Darna sighed again. What was this, the third sigh? Fourth? Now way was that healthy.

"Fine. If something comes up that is really important, and won't risk me, I'll pass a message along. But don't expect much. Like I said, I'm done."

Sidheth smiled, but it was a weak thing. "Thanks, Darna… I missed you. We all did."

Darna couldn't help but return the smile. "I missed you too, Sidheth."

The rest of the night was spent in a more comfortable silence, the two making sure to steer clear of the topic of rebellion.

Eventually, Darna left, and found herself back in her quarters in the capitol building. Situated right below the governor's penthouse, it was fairly spacious.

As she flopped into what had to be the nicest bed she had ever owned, sleep found her quickly.

Her last thought?

"I won't let my new life be taken from me. Not again."

Hi there folks. This was my first real attempt at writing a full conversation between two friends, banter included. It feels a little awkward, I think, but let me know.

Also, for those of you incels asking for a harem. While I get the urge, I don't plan for there to be any romance in this fic as of yet. While a romance can really add layers to a story, and truly enhance it, I'm nowhere near that level of skill. How can I write a convincing romance if I'm 19 and have never been on a date? Also, for harems, I don't think they work. While you could argue about polycules for days, harems specifically are top-down structures that are inherently narcissistic, and only value the person at the top. I invite you to watch Zhang Yimou's incredible 1991 film Raise the Red Lantern, which covers the harmful effects of such a relationship. And I think harems are cliche hentai bullshit.

On top of that, I recently went down a mini rabbit-hole looking for trains for the rail system. Even after I realized that I didn't really need to specify what train engines were used specifically, I had looked around and realized that there are pitifully few trains in Star Wars. At least named ones with specs and such. So any lore on Star Wars trains, and other niche vehicles and tech is widely appreciated. I dig around the wiki alot, cause I want to find the small stuff and try to use it more often than just grabbing whatever I can find from the movies and throwing it in. One of your guys' comments is what led me to choose the CR92a, so yeah.

Anyways, thanks for reading!

@Freefaller

Most trains in developed worlds were in essence souped up magnetic trains (see Japanese Bullet Trains) capable of traveling between hemispheres within hours on some core worlds. The Lore is very light in the details (outside repulsor craft). So basically take a modern Japanese bullet train, enclose the track and multiply by 100 and you should be at a good speed.

Also grats on 1700 watchers as a new artist with Zero 18+ scenes on QQ. That is very rare. Shows just how many like this type of story. Keep up the good work. Also, ignore the uncultured people asking for romance and 18+ scenes. Your MC would revolt if you gave him more complications or women in his life right now. Someone can always make an Omake if they want something like that. Integrating romance is pretty much going to require a lot more writing interpersonal conversations, practice and set up to do it in such a way as it doesn't feel tacked on or forced.

I am glad there isn't a harem. The story has been interesting. I think from what I've seen on movies or games, the trains are more just long floating busses without a rail.
Some do have rails it just more like they magnetic so they can lose a lot of support systems on the trains them selfs to add more room for cargo. Depends on the planet and what they're moving

I wonder how the wider rebellion is going to react
Im betting that once the warlords start there going to try to get him to join the new republic as a way to draw in other Imperials who may want to leave the war but can't join the rebellion/new republic.

Go with the K.I.S.S principle, saves up time if you can't find a star wars equivalent. Just say "they're similar to bullet trains but they float or something better"

Because unless you plan to have a specific train to train boarding/combat, you could leave it vague as they will only be on the background because STAR wars, not TRAIN wars.

They won't be a major part of the fic unless you need them to describe the progress of the city or a subway scene.

Also, based on the no harem. I don't see a lot of harem girl material in star wars tbh (solely based on the SI's morality and occupation. Buuuut I'm down for an oyakodon)

WE HAVE A SMART MAN THAT AVOIDED THE GOONER CLANS AND CALLED THEM CRINGE! HE'S EVEN EDUCATED!THREE CHEERS FOR THE YOUNG MAN FOR HAVING A GOOD HEAD ON HIS SHOULDERS! *CHEER**CHEER**CHEER*

The whole time I was in the bunker, I was contemplating running the fuck away. I had my escape plan all ready, I could've done it, but the odds were just enough in our favor for me to stay. Just barely.
You know, I was joking about Las hiding in the bunker, but now I can't help but accept that it would fit the kind of character he is. I wonder if Las will slowly, but surely, grow to take his responsibilities as Minda's governor seriously instead of immediately thinking of running at the first sight of danger. Sort of like a journey in which Las has to reluctantly face his fears, and with a bit of luck, become a better man than he currently is.

I guess Las can become the Star Wars version of Ciaphas Cain, that being gaining a list of accomplishments despite never wanting to put himself in danger, but instead of accidents and blind luck, Las gets through his ordeals through the effects of proper delegation and management of the military and civil sectors which indirectly, or even directly, save him.

Since this is during the Empire's reign, the best case for the MC/governor would be for him to have a human/near-human wife. So baseline human, Mirialan, Miraluka, Zeltron would probably be acceptable as wives. Darna as a Twi'lek would probably be an ok mistress/concubine. The human centrism (COMPNOR stuff) would probably preclude him from having a Twi'lek/Togrutan/other more visibly non-human spouse.

Can't really find much on specific models of trains / hovertrains on the star wars wiki. Probably the best idea for the hover / repulsorlift / maglev trains would be to have a dedicated passenger line, with another set of heavy cargo lines going along different sets of tracks. The heavy cargo lines would probably require heavier tracks and most likely be meant for expensive cargo or bulk cargo. The expensive stuff would probably require heavily secured cargo containers, while bulk cargo like food might require refrigerated containers.

TftC!

Take a look at the imperial train in the opening of Fallen Order, that is likely what was used given how simple it was.

If the empire ever toppled over the people of their system is still gonna vote him in charge instead of what the new republic sends xD
They are gonna fucking riot if the New Republic try to use the stupid mind wiping device on him they seem to use on imperials who were in leadership positions.

I gotta agree that harems almost never work in reality. Also harems are just obscene screen time hogs. When a story is slice of life or more character focused without a larger picture to focus on, a harem power fantasy is fun once in a while.(All harems are power fantasys admit it) But any nation builder story with a harem goes one of two ways, a lot political marriages and the personalities backing the marriages or a harem that reads like a checklist of fetishes.

TRAAAAAINS!

Honestly right now steady in-house(in the solar system) infrastructure building is about the only reasonable choice. There is centuries if not longer worth of building to do in what is basically a virgin solar system. Really the only things he could use from outside his solar systems is tech(blueprints, general science and knowledge, ect.) and rare minerals. But really since he has no exotic dreams or extreme military plans he doesn't need much beyond the basic hypermatter upkeep for his small fleet.

Also I just looked at the solar system, is there really no gas gaints? I'm no astronomy expert but I thought most solar systems that managed to actually form into solar systems instead of collasping into the local star usually has a couple kicking around. Gas gaints are surpsingly useful, being mostly hyrogen, helium with pockets of other useful gases such as methane and ammonia both of which can be used to make fertiliser. I believe that starwars has hyrdogen battery tech, or should. I'm also pretty sure that both helium and hyrdogen are used in fusion reactors being the two lightest elements and hence the easiest elements to fuse and get the resulting energy from.

All in all gas gaints are super useful in several mining based ways. Or even just as a gravity anchor to station dwarf planets around.

Finally, he should put out as much propaganda as possible encouraging child birth and rearing. Remember the most loyal subjects are those that are born under your rule!

Before she could ask for more details, a ship appeared out of hyperspace right outside the battlefield. As it cut through the void, she saw it's distinctive hull shape and couldn't help but feel a sense of relief.

As the comms came back online, a voice crackled through the intercom.

"This is the Arquitens-Class Command Cruiser Rationale, engaging hostiles. Glad to have a welcoming party. More interesting than this rubber ball I have-ouch!".
It was the closest I had come to death in either life, and it scared me. The whole time I was in the bunker, I was contemplating running the fuck away. I had my escape plan all ready, I could've done it, but the odds were just enough in our favor for me to stay. Just barely.
This is confusing me. The ending of the previous chapter strongly implied that the MC was in the Rationale coming to the rescue, but now it seems that he never left the planet?

You should do what's Ayab in their story War Profiter with their blaster design but like with all military equipment with earth designs as the base like TOW missiles or track vehicles in general or even alternate weapons systems like MAC guns or something that I've all ways been think of when it comes to starwars is that their Composite laser technology is really powerful like the ones on the LAAT cut though droids easily and there's that scene form revenge of the sith where that Venator destroys a munificent in a single shot with like storytelling restrictions like shorter range, can't damage shields enough and like I long recharge time

this is something that I've been working on that

Kant - class Composite laser (medium) corvette
Is a 150 meter long, 40 meters wide and 20 meters tall Composite laser (medium) corvette it is armed with 3 single barrel armoured turret Composite-beam lasers which is based on the SPHA-T laser but having gone tho upgrades and Redesign's to better fit as a naval weapon system it also is armed with 8 dual heavy rotary laser cannons turrets and 12 HPW anti ship missiles launchers with 40 missiles in its magazine and has a small hanger which can landed 4 Reaper lander. It is designed to be the future of multi role corvettes blending anti-Star fighter weapons with heavy anti-capital technology which while functioning poorly against shields can rip part ship much larger then it when those shields are down with its Composite-beam lasers and with its HPW anti ship missiles at range as well with its anti-Star fighter weapons being able to do serious damage against lightly armoured ships. It is designed to work with Praefector C2 ion vessels as there isn't a better ship its size that is equipped with ion cannons

Turret
7 meters long
7.5 meter wide
