We've had other things on our minds like trying not to get killed by fallen angels. Now that that's not a problem we can probably justify taking a day off or so to hang out with the Gremory peerage and build some closer ties with our sempais. In fact, this misunderstanding is why the whole "NMI" and "UMI" is being given the boot: too many people were misunderstanding what they actually meant, and started labelling "UMI" "evil mindrape", when that was never supposed to be the case. The devs have also complained that the person who choose the term should have picked a better term for it.

Even without magic, if you put the best used car salesman in the world in the same room with a socially awkward pleaser-type person with poor money management sense who needs a cheap car, but would be financially ruined by the purchase of an expensive one, and the salesman talks the sap into buying an expensive car, is everything morally in the clear even if the salesman stays off high-pressure tactics?

It'd be more accurate to say that influencing someone's behavior with social mechanics may or may not infringe consent, depending on context, and depending on the standards you hold them to. The mechanics are about as good as making moral judgement in this as the combat mechanics are at determining whether you were right to kill a dude. There's this sort of free-floating desire to declare some things fair game and some things foul play, but consent is not a sport.

Some of these are wrong as well:
There was no real game plan, because they couldn't come up with a method to actually do so other then "wear him down". Maybe if Akeno had been willing to use her Fallen Angel powers, that would have been different, but she wasn't, and Rias is too compassionate too force her to.
There was no contingency, because Rias is both inexperienced, and outmatched. If things went south, they would almost certainly lose, contingency or not. Rias even admitted that herself.
In case you hadn't noticed, Issei was a good chunk of their manpower, so yes, pressure was applied. They were up against experienced fighters with a numerical superiority, what do you expect?
Okay, this is just unfair. Just because you didn't see them training, doesn't mean they weren't training. What do you think they were doing while Issei and Asia were training under one of the others? Sitting on their asses?
Her running off was a bad mistake, but remember: she's young, unexperienced and emotional. Other then that, her performance had no real issues. Unfortunately, she was up against an opponent that her biggest advantage(the Power of Destruction) was useless against(Immortality). She simply couldn't overcome that advantage.

And before you ask why she didn't carry around something like holy water or a cross like Issei did: that only worked as well as it did because Issei boosted them. They would have been pretty ineffectual otherwise.

Kiba can use holy swords, but that's specifically a function of his Gear, and it's supposed to be a huge fucking deal.

I thought Issei deciding to use the cross was a hint at his still human mindset. I've always like the idea of devils using holy stuff, (Good omens had a good one) or Fae using iron. (desden files)

Theres no greater way to show that shit is getting real, than have someone use their own hated weakness as a weapon.

What surprised everyone was that Issei was able to use them, and he was able to use them with just that one hand because Ddraig turned it into a dragon arm.

And it was hands down the most brilliant tactic Issei has ever used. ;D

It was both:

I pull out a certain thing that I was hiding in a section of my gauntlet.

The thing I'm holding on to is a small bottle that contains holy water. This was the other thing I prepared before I came here.

An item that doesn't have that much effect against High-class Devils. If the Devils here in the hall sees this, then they will have just laughed with their nose. However, Raiser's face turns pale.

So, as seen, above a certain level, Devils are unaffected by plain old holy water and crosses. It hurts, but doesn't actually harm them on their own.

Think of it like an elemental weakness in Pokémon: it hurts them more then normal, but if they're of a significantly higher level, the advantage is useless.

Oh not that, I'm referring to the fight in general.

Trading his arm for a power-up is just standard shonen material, a deadly upgrade like all the others. What's brilliant is that Issei turned around and took advantage of the price he paid for that upgrade, effectively gaining two power-ups for the price of one. So now he has Balance Breaker to bring him up to par with Raiser plus the ability to hold Asia's cross and inflict spiritual damage which gives him a chance of accomplishing Rias's goal of breaking Raiser's spirit. But when the Balance Breaker cuts out before he can land the finishing blow he still has the holy water hidden away as a contingency plan. How many shonen heroes put that much thought into their battle plans? I can think of maybe one or two at best.

That and Issei's epic trollface when he pulled out the vial in the anime pretty much made the fight for me.

Oh, just got some new info: the beginning of Volume 6 states it's the beginning of September. The beginning of Volume 17 states it's the beginning of December.

So volume 6-7, 9-12 and 14-16 took place over a 3-month period. Add in Volume 5, and that's 4 months.

I agree that if we can erase the specific part of the last few minutes that concerns the problem it would be relatively easy. Still, we have obviously different opinions as I would think that loosing a week could very well Change a Person so it is no longer the same, especially if it is an important one. Because sure, you can relearn the stuff, but will they do that? A Person that loses a year may make totally different decisions in the future and develop differently then the last time. If the memories were then returned, the resulting mix would again be different then the former two cases.

Still, it is unlikely that we can Change the other's opinion, so I will leave it at that.

About Yang and Ruby, why do we think they don't have parents or at least an adult that Looks over them? They apparently didn't have any Magic necessary to screw with People until now, so how did they deal with obvious Problems. Hell, do they actually go to some School?

I am sorry, but I am not aware of any universal values assigned to the term "Soul". Considering that we have no idea whether souls exist in real life or what they do, they could be anything people call souls. Yes, they could be the metaphysical truth of a person or some such. It could also be that a soul is actually the place where memories are gathered and giving someone brain damage is actually going to do serious stuff, or nothing at all. It depends on whether the soul is in the brain or connected to it and whether damaging the brain also damages the soul. Hell, the Soul may just be a marker god made to easily distinguish humans from various other species and vice versa. Or it could be a thousand other things, it is just a word after all.
