He specifically was sent back with the suit pre-set to take him back to the same time, with a Pym particle presumably in it since it was supposed to be a two way trip, and he was shown earlier in the film to know how to change the time they went to when he and Tony went back for the Tesseract at the Shield Base.
He could very well have just kept the suit around, and made it bring him back 10 minutes earlier so he could set up on the bench.
