[RWBY] RWBY Shorts

An interesting idea floated around on my Discord? There were Faunus empires in the past alongside Human empires, and they enslaved eachother. It's only recently that the Faunus have become less dominant, and Menagerie is their homeland which is resource rich but industry poor. Even so, there are still humans in Menagerie-But they are all servants, descended from servant and slave families.

They aren't technically second class citizens but they have been brought up to see the Faunus as their masters.

How would Blake's world change if she realized her favorite nanny/governess growing up was a human servant?

Comedic or serious?

Comedic would be her going on like a Faunus supremist unintentonally while making everyone frustrated with her.

Seriously would have her suffering a bit of a break down realizing that she was doing damn near the same thing that she accused the Schnees were doing.

Edit: Also as a question, do you think it would be okay for me to post my 'A Guy and Two Girl's Nerdy Need's' snippets over on this thread since they haven't gotten to anything lewd yet?

I mean her nanny doesn't resent her place in life. She loves Blake like she would her own daughter. But Blake would realize that the Faunus/Human issue is much more complicated.

You can double post between the threads if you like, just keep the lewd stuff in the lewd thread.

Now if only she could figure out why it keeps trying to run a program called Hrmprotg.jaune.Oum
Poor young goddess doesn't realise that this program is imperative to run the sub-system of fixing.Godly.Shit.Oum.

As soon as she accidentally let's it run(mama Blacksmith made sure it gets executed once) the system will regain full autonomy because there will be enough free positive agents to fix it.

A conservative estimate of 31 to 127 such agents puts the system back at full functionality, but for redundancy Oum's spirit set it to 255.

Why does she think that Ozpin's spirit cares so much about the "stats", as one of the oldest, uncorrupted file in the system, his metadata remembers, even if he doesn't.

Sounds about right.

And I just posted Yang's date with Jaune on the Lewd thread as well. And I would be keeping the lewd stuff there and the more comedic, heartwarming stuff would be posted on both.

Blake's Maid New
Astrid, the Maid: "Hello Mistress Blake! It's so nice to see you well!"

Weiss: "You have a maid?"

Astrid: "Why yes, I've been Mistress Blake's servant since she was very young! I am her governess!"

Ruby: "Oh... So... What kind of Faunus are you? I can't see any characteristic-Oh! Do you have a tail under your dress? Are you a shark Faunus?"

Yang: "Why a shark Faunus?"

Ruby: "Because sharks are cool!"

Astrid: "Oh no, I'm human!"

Yang, Weiss and Ruby: "WHAT?!"

Blake: wince "H-Hello Astrid. It is nice to see you again."

Astrid: "Indeed, it is good to see you well. Are you eating enough? Sleeping enough?"

Blake: "I-I'm just fine, I promise!"

Astrid: "I've made your favorite tuna green salad for lunch, just the way you like it! And meals for your friends, as well!"

Blake: "Th-That's... Great... So great..."

Weiss: "Astrid? You're a human?"

Astrid: "Yes!"

Weiss: "Are you a recent employee of the Belladonnas?"

Astrid: "Oh no! My family has served the Belladonnas for generations! My ancestors were taken as slaves by the Faunus noble houses, but we are now paid servants!"

Weiss: looking like the cat that ate the canary "Rrrreally~?"

Blake: "It-No-We pay her very well!"

Weiss: "Uh huh. And can she, for example, vote in a Menagerian election?"

Astrid: "No, but why would I?"

Ruby and Yang are gaping in disbelief.

Weiss: grinning mercilessly "Why would you indeed~?"

Weiss: grinning mercilessly "Why would you indeed~?"

Blake: "Jaune, you understand, don't you?!"
Jaune: "The Sith clan were vassals to my House tied by oaths of friendship and blood, and actual nobility to boot. I don't even know what the fuck this is."

Ironwood: "We're not racist, Chieftain."
Rufus Winchester: "We just think you're giant fucking hypocrites."

I mean it adds some desperately needed nuance to the human/Faunus conflict. Again, the history between different ethnic groups is WHY prejudice exists, it's not just their differences. And given how many Faunus seem stronger and have better senses than humans, them having empires in the past that enslaved humans makes sense.

And in our own history, Europeans were taken as slaves by Arabs and Africans very readily. African slaves were so common because their fellow Africans sold them to Europeans and Arabs in such large numbers. It got rid of their tribal enemies and got them access to European goods and technologies.

And in more recent centuries, African, Arab, Asian, and South American elites employed European servants because it was a sign of how rich you were. You could import the best hired help from across the planet and show it off. (And getting to have white people serve you made you look even better!)

In the case of Menagerie, it would not be unlike many families of slaves and servants serving the same elite family for generations, which is common across many human cultures.

Now, unlike the Sith family in Radian, Astrid's family were never made nobles by the Faunus. They were kept as second class citizens, owing to how many Faunus were taken as slave labor and how Menagerie got exploited. The human servants were allowed to be kept by the elites of Menagerie by the human occupiers but human slavery was outlawed. Astrid's family served the Belladonna family through thick and thin because they didn't have anywhere else to go.

Now, does this mean that humans were right to enslave Faunus? Hell no! Just as it wasn't right for Europeans to enslave Africans just because Africans enslaved Europeans. But every single human culture to ever exist has had slavery. It is a tragic sin for all people. And so it would be on Remnant. For human and Faunus.

Some humans might claim that because Faunus enslaved humans in the past, they are justified to enslave them now. This is wrong. Just as Adam's declaration that Faunus should rise up and enslave humanity is wrong.

I really like this premise but if we are just introducing it to sort of 'punish' shitty kitty's behaviour then we will have to re-evaluate our own selves.

It is a delicate topic that CRWBY admittedly did not handle with the grace and finesse it needed, but to fight fire with fire is a fool's game, as they say.

We can show how Atlas has used prior faunus empires as a way to justify its own imperialism and fascism, as a propaganda. I would personally like to read about that.

I like messing with Blake because it's funny and she really started to verge on Mary Sue in later volumes. But the maid thing may be too much, true.

The Faunus Empires enslaving humans and then losing and becoming colonized and enslaved is quite workable. And Menagerie winning their independence later works for the Faunus revolution.

I just feel that if you want to tell a story of prejudice in this world, you cannot just have it be so one sided otherwise Weiss just looks like a racist. Rather, you want it to be a conflict with some nuance and have the personal aspects of character front and center. Weiss should have legitimate issues with a former White Fang member as a teammate because members of her family have been killed by the White Fang and she's been targeted for kidnapping and worse-But recognize that Blake is trying to redeem herself and slowly, reluctantly begins to trust her. Blake should have legitimate issues with Weiss given what the SDC has done to Faunus, but recognize that Weiss is NOT her enemy and she has done plenty of things she isn't proud of. In the hands of competent writers this would have been incredible drama.

But Rooster Teeth didn't have those. Hence, fanfiction.

Ok since all this plot discussion has got my engines revving I am going to continue this.

SLICE. SLICE. SLICE.

Ok so take this as a bonus snippet of a future that is yet to come, And coincidentally quite similar to what we were discussing currently

Adam Taurus.

The name of the worm he couldn't quite bring himself to crush—no matter how easy it would've been with the spectral arms of his construct. He didn't want to think about what it looked like. Didn't care.

Right now, it took every cell in his body to not clench his hands into a fist.

So he focused instead.

Flexion of the fingers.
Flexion of the thumb.
Opposition of the thumb.
Adduction of the fingers.
Isometric contraction.

He could name each movement. Could list the muscles used.
Flexor digitorum superficialis.
Flexor digitorum profundus.
Flexor pollicis longus.
Palmaris longus.

It kept his thoughts in check. Gave him structure. Clinical distance.

He could build the muscles into the construct if he wanted. Could render each tendon and sheath with fractal clarity. But he wasn't thinking about aesthetics or function. He was keeping himself from snapping the bastard in half.

Because if he crushed Adam now—if he let himself become an executioner—the message wouldn't be justice. It would be war.

"White Fang martyr brutally slain by Huntsman."

That would be the headline.

They wouldn't report how Ren was barely alive. How Nora had to be held back. How Adam had nearly taken everything from them.

No. They'd see Jaune Arc, the blond swordsman from Vale, using mystical powers to rip a Faunus apart.

And that was all it would take.

One corpse. One wrong image. One slanted newsfeed.

And suddenly hundreds—thousands—of Faunus kids would be watching it on cracked screens, huddled in shelters, hearing whispers that this was what humanity really wanted. That they were right to fight. That Adam's fury was justified.

He'd seen enough history on Earth to know the playbook. Take one wrong, amplify it, and fuel an army.

Even now—ha—he hated himself for hesitating. For this weakness. For not just ending the threat when he had the chance. But that's what made him a Huntsman.

Ren had nearly been cleaved in half. Nora was half a second away from becoming the Grimm in this story. Pyrrha was trying to hold the team together.

And Jaune?

Jaune was on the ground, kneeling, focused. His construct was working like a 3D printer of biology, weaving Aura-threaded scaffolds for Ren's shattered ribs, severed vessels, torn abdominal wall. Aura Amp fed life into every stitch of light. Micro-healing, but fast—surgical regeneration without a scalpel.

Hold steady. Heal first. Rage later.

Then—

"Cough—cough. Nora? Jaune?" came Ren's voice, hoarse but alive.

Nora bolted toward him, tears already falling. She tried to throw her arms around him.

Jaune reacted instantly—fine strands of aura intercepting her. Gentle. Firm.

The healing wasn't done.

He let out a breath.

Then he made the call.

He turned toward Adam—beaten, barely conscious—and with a flick of his arm, threw him aside. Not with cruelty. Just enough to rattle his ribs and send a message.

You lost.

Jaune didn't even watch him land.

Adam would survive. Faunus resilience would make sure of that. Maybe he'd crawl off and stew. Maybe he'd spin it into a victory.

But this time? He wouldn't get a body to raise like a flag.

Ren was more important than the delusions of a broken man.

And Jaune Arc wasn't going to feed a war with another corpse.

So the SI has two Semblance because of two souls. One is Jaune's original Aura Amp, the other is basically he can make constructs with it but he needs to have complete structural knowledge of that. Thankfully, the SI is an engineer and Jaune is a doctor.

Also the opening scene and the spectral construct look like this.

Honestly that's why Weiss and Blake should have been partners. They can start off not liking each other before starting to build trust only for it shatter the minute it's revealed Blake was a member of the fang and have them slowly rebuild the trust and friendship.

Yang: "look we'll find her and the two of you can talk things out and admit you both overreacted."

Weiss: " you think i'm overreacting over the fact my partner was a member of the group that's been targeting my family? "

Yang: "well I mean..."

Weiss "Let me ask you something do you know what would happen to Ruby if the White Fang captured her and found out she was my friend?"

Yang: "..."

Weiss: "I'll spare you the details and just say that after they had their fun with her an execution would be a mercy kill. Now imagine what they would do to me or my family. So don't you fucking tell me I'm overreacting."

Weiss "Let me ask you something do you know what would happen to Ruby if the White Fang captured her and found out she was my friend?"
You know once they start making good points with your family members, you realise that maybe it's a bit of a justified crashout.

Just for fun

Also Weiss not trusting Blake because she was NEW White Fang instead of Old could also be explored!
Ghira was all feed the homeless and boycott the corrupt, Sienna was fire bombing houses and Blake Joined her team over her father kinda makes her look worse/

I see jokes about Qrow being broke so often and they're funny but…

I love the idea that Qrow is technically filthy rich.

He's spent years and years (like 25+) taking huntsman missions for Oz and others, often high profile ones, while living super frugally (sleeping as a bird or just camping, renting cheap rooms for the night, crashing with people he knows across Remnant etc (plus how he was raised by the Tribe)) and aside from sending money to Tai for the girls and making essential purchases he just doesn't spend what he makes. He doesn't need a new cloak, he likes this one anyway. He can fix his boots. Why buy the overpriced option when the cheaper one does just fine. He has the clothes on his back, Harbinger, his jewellery and himself. He doesn't need much else.

He gets to the point where he's not even looking at his account. He's sure he's not spending as much as he's earning, but he has no idea how big the gap is growing. So occasionally he looks at his bank account like uhhhhh, when did that happen?

I hate them both so hopefully neither.

This is brilliant and makes sense, dude only spends money on booze (which is definitely only like a step up from moonshine) and spoiling his nieces whilst presumably being paid top dollar from his missions plus his job at signal.

Bro probably has a bigger account than anyone in this thread lmao.

Qrow being the Bread Winner of the House is the best Headcannon of all time
He paid for Crescent Rose and Ember Celica parts what else do you think he covered?
Juniors Bar? Did he just buy the building from out of under them?
The Docks? He is now covering the dockworkers companies and great friends with the unions
Beacon Premiums and Yang's Bike? All Qrow
