Sneaking His Way into the Multiverse (RWBY Jaune, WC-lite mechanics)

Huh, you kniw, I kinda wonder... What if this is like, actual time travel? Like, its the same world as the Levi fight, but in the past?

It might just be a different Worm world, but it would be kinda cool to see if he can somehow change certain things in the past, to affect his... Future past?

Tho I doubt ir, I dont remember any hints like that in those first few chapters.

I kinda want to see both Lisa somehow get into a fight to prove who's the real one, WC-lite Lisa goes along with it for LOLz, only for her to be declared the fake one cause there's no way the real Lisa is as buff as she currently is with Aura and Monster Hunter food.

i hope we get either a Cat fight (esche or Lisa)

or

a Honorable duel of blades for the Knight who has yet to rust.

might be me seeing Max0r's Revengence video, but im in the mood for some Sword fighting while spouting MeMes the DNA of da Soul!!!

Like Jaune unrusted Arc vs RezJax or Swordsman WC Contractor. fighting on a Train or the middle of Freeway while Cars speeding by.

Jaune wouldn't stand a chance against a contractor with a grudge.

ah but this contractor would be close to broke, and still(mostly likly) think Jaune is still same as canon

not knowing he got more experince fighting The Beast, Ratholos, and got new gear and powers.

Jax showing up thinking he fighting canon only to get third arm clothesline then Gunlanced to the ground

I disagree, but I don't think it's worth arguing about it unless Jax actually does make an appearance. I'm hopeful that he doesn't, because recycling a dead antagonist is something I, personally, find off putting.

In the pursuit of hoping to visualize this story better, I made this fairly rudimentary map of our team's humble abode. Sharing it in case anyone else would like a visual aid.

What I like about this story is that having a system that gives you anything is just isn't enough. Jax had everything not just not to die by sneak attack but prevent the fall of Beacon and he thought he did so. What he didn't consider is that unlike many other stories with system using protagonists, doing bare minimum isn't enough. Being meta isn't enough to succeed in this particular story, so he completely fucked up and died.

If he ever comes back, he wouldn't be an impossible threat because he is cocky, arrogant weeb who thinks that he knows characters and how they will act. We used to stories with protagonists like him and think that they're some kind of geniuses but in reality all what they doing is an equivalent of playing maincraft in creative mode. Yes, in normal story he would be impossible to defeat but here? In the story where having a god's tablet isn't enough? Even with all those powerful brainwashed waifus from multiverese, even with every power he will ever wish, he will stay the same. In opposite, Jaune, Lisa and Esha will change and become wiser than before.

Lisa: Jaune, what is this?
Jaune: Sniper and enchanted explosive rounds, while he's explaining how pathetic I am and how much he's going to humiliate me, the poison that Escha put in his coffee this morning should kick in, after which his aura will drop and you'll be able to take him down. Just please aim for the head, we need to be sure.
Lisa: *Shocked*

Oh man, Cyberpunk would be such a good world for Lisa. Advanced tech that's not tinker tech? Tech that Lisa can turn her powers to figuring out?

Plus they can get some nice weapons out of the whole deal. Not many personal upgrades unless they're willing to get chrome, but maybe some Bioware?
Lisa'd make for one helluva fixer, if they ever manage to stay there long-term instead of for an instance.

For sure, but I feel like the world of Cyberpunk would be absolutely soul crushing for Jaune.
Oh fuck yeah it would be. You know, I actually had this debate with my friends. Which death world would you rather live in? Remnant, or Cyberpunk Earth? I answered Remnant.

Sure, odds are a good bit above zero that I'll get eaten by a Grimm, especially in canon time when shit hits the fan, but at least I can breathe the air and the food isn't 50% plastic, and can trust that I'm not gonna get ambushed every third alley to have my organs stolen and my corpse raped, and the local power system doesn't drive me insane the further I progress down it.

I know absolutely nothing about this games beyond memes. Why would it be so bad for him?

The entire genre is about how the real monsters are other people, and in a world made by assholes, for assholes? Fucking each other over and being the bigger dick rather than the bigger man IS the only way forward they have left.

It is only somwehat less grimmderp than 40K. Also has some eery similarities to current world at times, except we don't have their super batteries and man-machine interfaces.

Basically the world is under the heel of massive corporations, who have plundered and ruined the planet. Shit is, to put it bluntly, not good lol. It's post-post-apocalyptic, and its inhabitants usually run on the mindset of "trust absolutely no one and look after yourself." Night City, where most of the setting takes place, was built and cultivated by various megacorps and most of its citizens barely get enough to get by. The environment is utterly fucked, everything is subscription based, gangs run amok like it's nobody's business, and most people are some flavor of criminal just so they're able to survive. Very bleak setting. Hope is hard to come across, as most sources of it are often violently squashed.

It is a world where rampant greed and late stage capitalism has been left running unchecked. Multiple world wars have been waged by the corporations, wrecking the environment to the point where if viewed from orbit, Earth is more brown than green and blue. The social bonds of family and community are entirely extinct, with only gangs and fracticidal corporate culture to replace them. The overriding cultural view is "fuck everyone, look at for yourself." and not only is murderous violence from gang warfare to spree killings is not only accepted, but recorded and televised for entertainment ratings. A particularly popular form of entertainment are snuff VR recordings called XBDs, which are often taken from the victim's (or their killers) POV, recording not just their vision and hearing, but all their senses and emotions to be injected straight into the brain via mind machine interfaces so that patrons can experience it live.

It is a culture that celebrates death and violent societal cannibalism, where if you aren't a corpo, the 'cool' thing to aspire to is dying in a flashy way trying to pull off some grand battle.

Did I mention that one of the most common crimes in that world is being chopped up for parts? Parts which are then cycled back into the economy through legit and illegitimate means?

There is no hope in CP2077, no virtue, no 'good guys' to side with. A rare good individual perhaps, but nothing beyond that. Only greed, death and desperation.

The only thing that can keep you afloat is your friends and family. Misty, Vic, Jackie, Aldecaldos clan, Rebecca, Lucy, Maine... But even this is ephemeral, this city will take everything you care about if you don't leave the game when you have a chance.

In RWBY terms... Imagine if every corporation on Remnant followed SDC business model, if almost everone in a position of power was Jacques Schnee and almost every scientist was Watts or Merlot. And the Grimm were digital mosters prowling 95% of the Internet. With Salem being a rogue AI stand-in. I suppose Hunters are Solo/Edgerunner equivalents. And Maidens being... Netrunner equivalents I suppose?

The analogy is breaking down a bit but you get the gist.

in others words

*puts on Johnny Silverhands shades and installing Keanu Reeves voice*

"Wake up Samurai(Rusty) we got a city to Burn"

canonically, the (good) guy in the setting who fought the corpos, set off a fucking NUKE in the middle of a city, and that is still less evil then what the corpos do daily

Maybe he will at least get that talking gun. And doesn't this game has a dildo weapon too? They might even start a collection of those things.
You only get Sir John Phallustiff after having a tryst with a Militech corpo lady you help out. Jaune has some rizz to him, when he isn't trying anyway, but would he go for it? Likely not; she is kind of a bitch.

in Night City, there is a really likable VI in a vending machine

i always wanted to put the dude in a watch or gun

like a destiny weapon

he and Jaune would give Tats diabettes

I was rereading this story (again lol) and I felt compelled to say that I really enjoyed this moment in chapter 26:
For every Hound Dog that would stop and put up a last stand, Jaune saw another who would roll a grenade down the steps, uncaring of the losses they were trading in the hope for his death. As fierce the opposition may be, there were too many who instead vaulted the railings, risking a bad fall in the process of saving their hide. Those guys ran off into the night, and never looked back. The people left behind didn't blame them, merely putting their trust in the Hound Dog by their side, fighting on.

Valiance. Cowardice. Heroism from criminals stained by dirty deeds. A consuming despair all too human to contrast it. Thoughts of duty. Thoughts of one's own life.

And at the center of it all, a being invincible to their futile resistance, unstoppable by any means.

I am Leviathan.
Jaune's simple realization and subsequent mild upset that he's killing these people who he feels don't at all deserve the minutiae of respect welling up inside of him, that he can even faintly see himself in (to his displeasure), as they face or flee from what are essentially insurmountable odds in a discomfortingly similar vein as he himself did and witnessed, is great. He dwells on it only for a bit, before steeling himself and finishing the job.

If ever a part of this story deserved fanart, I'd opine that this is certainly one of them.
