Disease, pestilence, and plague are the norm of history, not the unexpected. More time has been spent in wartime than peacetime. The Holocaust is only unique in that it was ineffective, incomplete, and generally condemned.

An uncharitable version of this sentiment could easily be: "Be bored and suffer until you die." Precedented, uninteresting, and uneventful.
