I look at the hologram of the place. Multiple meteorite impacts, which might explain where the rest of the moon went. At least one appears to have triggered a supervolcanoic eruption, though… I suppose that might just have been the asteroids. The sunlight blocked, shockwaves causing damage to everything…
Not sure what that would do magically to the place, but the direct damage it caused is extremely obvious.
"We could probably trade for fixing it up. Maybe ask for a continent to put vulnerable refugees on?"

"It's their homeworld. Demanding half of it is only going to insult them, convenient as it might be in the short term. Particularly as the survivors would find themselves immediately outnumbered by the refugees."
"And if it was just temporary?"

I nod. "Fair enough. Do we have the spare magicians to study the Seeds?"
"No, though I seem to remember that you tasked the Venturians with studying something along those lines. Perhaps King Cyprian would be prepared to send a few of those to Minosyss now that his situation at home is more secure."

"I will attend to those myself. I am a little concerned that an Apokoliptian was able to access our controls. That shouldn't be possible. Their technology simply isn't advanced enough."
"Not advanced enough?"
"Our mastery of the material sciences is unrivalled. Their connection to the Source has allowed them to… 'Skip' certain steps."
"And your symbiotes are totally different."
"I will admit, they gave us a tremendous advantage. But we worked to understand how we could do what we could do after receiving that advantage. New Gods simply accept their God Name as a Source-given beatitude." She shakes her head. "Even the fools who throw themselves at the Source Wall do so as squalling children throwing a tantrum because their parents have denied them a second ice cream."

"Not at all. Though I doubt that it will come as a surprise to them. Are any of the New Gods on Earth scientifically inclined?"

"Could this 'Doctor Impossible' have an ability which allowed him to bypass the security?"
"In combination with the unusual nature of Minosyss, it's not impossible. We're going to have to find somewhere else to put them."
"How many are there?"
"Eight, of various classes. We stopped making them after former Guardians like myself joined the Controller faction. The remaining Guardians made it clear that they would take umbrage at their continued use."
"And you didn't just destroy them? Isn't that a bit hypocritical, given why you left the Guardians?"
"Sun Eaters are weapons. Stellar viruses, if you're feeling poetic. They aren't even intelligent enough to qualify as animals. The Manhunters are full artificial intelligences, and as such could be held accountable for their judgements."
"But not their creators?"
"Would you hold parents responsible for their children's crimes?"
"If they literally built their brains, yes, I probably would."
"The brains we built for the Manhunters were immensely complex. We gave them all of the tools to reach their own conclusions. We did not program them to prioritise mass murder. We had no idea that they would react as they did."
"Do you know why they did now?"
"I believe so. It was due to their emergent utility calculation system. You are aware that some forms of utilitarian ethics promote vast populations who experience at least a little happiness at some point in their lives over smaller populations who are in a constant state of total fulfilment?"

"They reached a similar conclusion regarding order. For us, it seemed completely natural that for things to be orderly there had to be things to be in order. And that those things were the point of the exercise. They decided differently." She pauses for a moment. "Is there anything else?"
"Would it be alright if I took a few days off?"
"I think that my blood pressure would go down slightly. What about your students?"
"They don't need me there full time. A few days without me looming over them could do some good. And if it doesn't, then that was worth knowing as well."

In Assimilation the MC said that New God tech is more art than science, which fits.
Well if Desaad is still supplying weapons, then maybe.
You could fix it up and by doing so gain the allegiance of several powerful demigods to help you in the war.
Plus if they're still near the Spider Guild planet then that'll just lead to more dead spiders.
So either this is just a small question or the next episode will have these two doing something together.

What does Hinon think about Metron? I assume he (and possibly Desaad) would be exceptions to this norm.
I'm wondering if Renegade will Awaken any benign hypercognitives or scientists he can find to get a New God of Science. Atom is the only one that comes to mind, maybe Silas Stone. Though maybe Captain Comet could also qualify (I'm not sure how safe Awakening is for him at the moment, though)
I'd be down to see Awakening or analogues of it to show up in non-Terran beings. Every living being should theoretically have some connection to the Source, right?

The guy is a brilliant scientist in multiple fields and is fairly benign.
Renegade has Awakaned a lot of people who weren't benign.
Probably, though people from Earth have a bigger one due to the Life Entity.

I think I just assumed that Magnificus died- I know he survived the Sheeda incursion on Venus, but I thought Dr. Sivana wouldn't go through with a suicide plan if he still had surviving family members. But yeah, he'd be a good candidate. (I'm now also wondering what happened to the Sivanas' souls if they died on Venus, and also what Dr. Sivana's soul is up to in (presumably) Hell. Taking over Ritchie Simpson's operations?)
Renegade's met Nyssa Ratko and hopefully he knows she knows how to do Lazarus Pit alchemy, and she's favorably disposed towards him, so I think Awakening her would also be interesting.
Renegade has Awakened non-benign people but the escalation potential of a New God of Science or Technology would warrant more caution, I think; a bit like Tinkers in Worm (at least in fanon if not canon).

Not the the best of my knowledge. Animal Man was able to draw on their characteristics after his upgrade, so they might have animal intelligence.
Yes, except for the fact that he's nothing like a Sun Eater. Due to one being a giant gas cloud and the other being a humanoid.

I think the explanation in cannon was that the Gas cloud was their Larval form and they would eventually grow more Humanoid/Intelligent/Powerful. But if you're not adding them in your story fine with me.

Starbreaker was in this story and if I remember correctly he was stated to be a Sun Eater that developed further than the others.

I wasn't able to find anything about him being an advanced Sun Eater in this story, but that's basically his origin in the comics.
He's a Sun Eater that was taught by the Controllers to be more powerful and intelligent.
