Weeeeell, that ain't strictly true. Loki is the one who gives Fafnir the cursed gold of Andvari as part of a ransom (Fafnir's father, a dwarven king, has captured Odin and Thor), which may or may not have been responsible for him murdering his father and running off with the gold. The gold then really gets its claws into him and his greed becomes endless as he turns into a dragon.

Basically, Loki is the one who curses Fafnir, if somewhat indirectly.

Also, I would smash wolf-girl, sure.
