The two worlds at the bottom in the middle of the thin stretch.

Was hoping you'd draw a line. :p

Samantha Calderon April 3025
"Thomas," he snorts with contempt.

"Ah," Samantha replies looking up with interest. "Janos is going for a heir whose not only capable, doesn't leave off in a huff, and doesn't actively chase after the post of Captain-General. Yes I can see why he'd play for Thomas under those conditions."

Taking a moment to think as she idly rolls the que between her hands Samantha taps her fingers lightly. "Which poises a bit of pickle now doesn't it. Comstar has him good and hooked."

"Simply put, you." he replies as clam as a cold winters day. "I'm not going to ply you with lies and sweet words. I believe a union between us will benefit our shared realms and ambitions."

"Duncan unless you've got a plan in play for toppling Janos right now I can think of one immediate response your Uncle would make to a union between us. Give us a suitable wedding present, retire you from the Marik Militia and then promptly request that you stay in the Concordat." Samantha points out calmly. "Additionally lending you Taurian Regiments to topple your Uncle would go over as well as a lead balloon with my people."

"As for my personal ambitions," here Samantha shrugs takes a sip of her drink and continues on "I need to set them aside for the national interest of the Taurian Concordat."

"Now if Andurien, Oriente and the other provinces bordering the CapCon all mutually decided to have a go at Mad Max the same time Hanse was crashing down on him like a Highlander on a lamed Wasp," at this Samantha shrugged and smirked a little "Clearly the TC taking its own chunk would be the smart thing to do. Why I'd be surprised if the hero who took Sian wouldn't get Parliaments nod."

"Reverse that, and if Janos sits on Andurien, Oriente and the rest of the border provinces while Hanse and Katrina bloody the hell out of the Dragon to secure passage between their two realms" Samantha pauses for a moment to sharpen her thoughts. "The Concordat would have no interest in entering a pissing match with the Liaos. "

"At the current point in time flogging goods to everybody is in the Concordats interest," Samantha concludes "But that it isn't say the process is going to be blind. Advance notice, better credit, first offers are all lovely things that can happen if the Concordats already benefited by say leaning on Irian Industries to cough up a Stalker license its design specs and a chance to copy their line at the TCs cost. Or Technicron for the Awesome"

Note, you also get news Morgan Hanek-Davion has just arrived in system about this time...

Morgan's to get a proper escort down and received as the diplomatic party that he is. Apart from a formal welcome in the Protectors Office Samantha has her staff plan and put together a Ball in honor of the high ranking guests currently visiting.

Oh Hanse trying to pair up the twenty year old Protector with the Heir to both the FedSuns and Capellan March.

Samantha also has the École Militaire draw up a series of war games run via Simulator. She'll offer to have both Duncan and Morgan lead the TEM cadets in virtual battle.

This lovely Lily of the Kuritans have a name?

Bingo.

The randy old bastard is an encyclopedia.

Alright. Though it is a clothing optional villa. There's a reason its nicknamed "El Amor Choza"...

Samantha merely grins and replies "No tan lines even better!"

Tons. She frankly owns a rather respectable chunk of the Taurian Economy.

Most likely a net worth in Trillions of C-bills.

The Sentinal? They still have the tooling around somewhere but it would take time to find as much as duplicate. Would you rather have a nice assault mech?

Sentinal's fill a nice big gap in the TDF's current capabilities. A Mech with a good bit of speed that can effectively patrol sparsely inhabited worlds without being wasted on said duty.

Not to mention Samantha's operating under the impression Defiance Industries would want a whole lot more for licensing Assault Mechs and producing a set of tooling.

They get treated very nicely and end up on Sterope x 2, McLeod's Land, Pinard, Perdition, Dicallus, Celentaro, and New Vallis.

And another 6 battalions of assorted warriors

How many are absolute crap?

They'll lick anything she damned well wants them to if it means getting back in a control couch.

Samantha is tempted to drag the pretty ladies out for a test drive, tempted so very tempted

Alright. It'll take time but it'll be done.

Most are pretty solid. Don't know much about ruling but they follow orders well enough.

Solid assignment just they hope to get hazard pay for combat situations.

Hazard Pay of course comes standard, as does replacement for Mechs destroyed in service (Mechs destroyed by stupidity on the other hand are not). This is more working on the issue of their Reliability before sending a Company of Mechs to the boonies to guard it.

If this is an offer to keep those mechs they almost all swear their loyalty to the Concordant. You're giving them their lives and honor back.

Of course! Samantha in turn takes their oaths to both the Concordat and to herself personally. Apart from Merlins, she'll slip them a few heavies, Griffons (and hopefully Wolverines) over 3026-8 funded from her own private purse.

"Ma'am you really want to put them all in once place?"

"I was really only hoping for a Battalion 's worth of idiots," Samantha replies. "If it comes down to it I was hoping they'd soak up a good deal of Liao fire before breaking."

Below as Dragoons Reaction

6-8 months each way.

Mid to late 3026 then

Help them get the yards up and running and they'd help you look.

Privately Samantha has the OWA Ambassador given an offer, the TC is planning on restoring its ability to build Jumpships. Would the OWA allow the TC to send specialists to survey Quarte Belle? The TC will work hand in hand with the OWA to slowly restore Quarte Belle if its at all feasible.

*blink* "The Star League is gone, ma'am"

"Its dream sure hasn't," Samantha responds calmly. "The Blackhearts, may those damned bastards rot in hell, do however provide a solid base line to defend against."

They share a look. "Any evidence to your suspicions, ma'am?"

"On the recent disaster....." Samantha draws out her answer "Nothing concrete. As for Comstar, they've got fingers on every world, control the interstellar banking system, and have the ability to read the mail.

"If that's how you want to do it we could build them under the surface and just blast open the rock once we're ready to launch the first batch. The future ones wouldn't be secret but who'd care, we'd have warships."

"Ooooh clever," Samantha responds her eyes lighting up. "I like. How would this affect the costs assuming we aimed for say 6 slips capable of handling 1 MT each"

It's slowly coming together. Literally as in you're slowly assembling the parts.

Samantha isn't interested in wonders, slow and steady is just fine (plus it lets Samantha rebuild her war chest of extra monies)

Running multiple threads here. Mix ups happen. Apologies

That was meant for fitz.
Okay, these things happen.

Yeah. The Farlookers manage to locate Pirate's Haven. It's a perfectly habitable world smack dab in the middle of the damned cluster.

That's good enough for me.
Okay. What do my advisors and my limited (so far) military education suggest would be appropriate as an invasion and occupation plan and what unit strength would be suitable.

Maybe. You're almost starting to loathe the idea of his death. He's just too... nice.
Let's see what can be done about that.

"I like to hold myself to a higher standard. It's called simple human decency. You treat me honorably and I'll happily do the same."
It's not a bad principle and I'll give it a try

Change it.

He's not overly interested in sale at this time, but what do you offer to change his mind.
Would they be interested in seeing what they can do with the Fuel Cell technology we've started using for our vehicles?

He understands completely. And a week later a TMI agent in the Federated Suns literally finds a top secret MIIO data-packet in his mailbox between the water bill an the Federated Clearing House advertisements.
Classy. What's in the data-packet?

He'd like to see them gone as much as you would. If you could draw the bulk of their forces into a trap, he'd be willing to send a couple RTCs to Manke to burn out the rest. He hates the Draconis Combine most. Doesn't mean he has any great love for the Confederation. He can't stand them, and he's well aware of Archie McCarron's irrational grudge against his nation. One day that man will have his leash cut and be permitted to run wild. On that day he'll have a mad dog with 5 regiments running wild in his backyard. Best shoot them now.

What are your plans?
"As a brief history lesson, the SLDF's 35th Infantry Division was destroyed on Laconis in the early stages of the Periphery Uprising. If the Maskirova were to learn, say, six months from now, that one of the Division's repair bases on Laconis was overlooked due to its remote location and has only recently been discovered... well Laconis is rather close to Capellan space so discretion in our investigation of it is absolutely vital in case a major Capellan raid was launched to seize the supplies and tooling from the facility before a suitably powerful garrison can be moved into position."

Oh, and looking under McCarron's base on Menke might be profitable if our own information is correct. Naturally I'd prefer that McCarron doesn't take to doing so in case there is something buried down there.

"Comstar has their hands so far up the boy's ass that he's functionally a sockpuppet," he replies coolly.

"Not immediately, but there are... plans in motion," he admits. "Janos is a fool and with Thomas as Captain-General we might as well change the letterhead and start worshiping toasters."

"As for my personal ambitions," here Samantha shrugs takes a sip of her drink and continues on "I need to set them aside for the national interest of the Taurian Concordat."

"I find that with time and consideration you can often find ways to align them."

He nods. "I see the potential in that. The problem is that there's a better than even chance that the Lyrans might attempt to complete their corridor by attacking the Free World's League. If we can in some way convince them not to attack us, I'd happily turn the entire might of the Free World's League against the Confederation. They've been a stone in our shoe for centuries and while I have no great love for the Lyrans, at least house Steiner isn't know for its mental instability."

"Hm. I'd have through you'd still seize Rollis during the chaos. Be something of a coup to regain a lost world."

He chuckles. "I will do what I can. After all, this is officially a trade mission and it would be unseemly for me to come out without the exchange of goods"

Morgan's to get a proper escort down and received as the diplomatic party that he is. Apart from a formal welcome in the Protectors Office Samantha has her staff plan and put together a Ball in honor of the high ranking guests currently visiting.

Morgan is dashing and somewhat tall with long hair and great and noble features. The kinda guy who makes girls swoon. "It's an honor to meet you, Protector Samantha."

Oh Hanse trying to pair up the twenty year old Protector with the Heir to both the FedSuns and Capellan March.

The man's got hutzpa you gotta admit it. Plus you know he likes impressive wedding gifts... who knows what he'd offer if you make it worth his time.

Samantha also has the École Militaire draw up a series of war games run via Simulator. She'll offer to have both Duncan and Morgan lead the TEM cadets in virtual battle.

The two men are geniuses and that much is clear to see. They seem to develop a friendly rivalry and spent their time in the sims basically trying to work around eachother.

This lovely Lily of the Kuritans have a name?

Kurita Yuri

Samantha merely grins and replies "No tan lines even better!"

Well, you spend the time with the dirtiest old man in the Concordant. He's actually a total gentlemen.

Most likely a net worth in Trillions of C-bills.

Indeed. You are probably the richest woman alive esp when net worth is taken into account. You can pay for major military projects from your liquid assets. Before the fall of Star League you could afford to BUY a WARSHIP using your petty cash.

The issue is... well... they're not exactly sure where they put the Sentinal's tooling. And even then they'd have to unpack and rebuild the line specifically to be able to copy it. The Assault would actually be CHEAPER for them.
They get treated very nicely and end up on Sterope x 2, McLeod's Land, Pinard, Perdition, Dicallus, Celentaro, and New Vallis.

Alright.

How many are absolute crap?

Not many. Most of the absolute crap didn't make it past muster. As for how many are nothing special? D12

Samantha is tempted to drag the pretty ladies out for a test drive, tempted so very tempted

Heh.

Hazard Pay of course comes standard, as does replacement for Mechs destroyed in service (Mechs destroyed by stupidity on the other hand are not). This is more working on the issue of their Reliability before sending a Company of Mechs to the boonies to guard it.

Sounds acceptable. Any salvage?

Of course! Samantha in turn takes their oaths to both the Concordat and to herself personally.

Once they get landholds they swear to herself. THe Concordant Military doesn't take any oaths to the protector.

Apart from Merlins, she'll slip them a few heavies, Griffons (and hopefully Wolverines) over 3026-8 funded from her own private purse.

Very appreciated. Though why not Merlins?

"I was really only hoping for a Battalion 's worth of idiots," Samantha replies. "If it comes down to it I was hoping they'd soak up a good deal of Liao fire before breaking."

"Why bother with idiots at all?"

Below as Dragoons Reaction

Well... one of their regiments along including the black widows are now tearing ass for the concordant and they're not answering Takashi Kurita's calls except they have personal buisness what must be handled...

Mid to late 3026 then

Plus the time to find the damned thing.

YES!

Um. I mean we would be interested but I need to contact my superiors.

"Its dream sure hasn't," Samantha responds calmly. "The Blackhearts, may those damned bastards rot in hell, do however provide a solid base line to defend against."

Solid grunt.

"On the recent disaster....." Samantha draws out her answer "Nothing concrete. As for Comstar, they've got fingers on every world, control the interstellar banking system, and have the ability to read the mail.

They share a look. "When you put it that way I can understand your suspicions. Have any evidence, m'lady?"

They think you're being paranoid as hell (maybe clothes would have been a good idea) but they're willing to entertain your ideas as at least it's more sane than your predecessor's fear of the Suns.

"Ooooh clever," Samantha responds her eyes lighting up. "I like. How would this affect the costs assuming we aimed for say 6 slips capable of handling 1 MT each"

"Not sure. Billions."

These are staff officers not military contractors

Samantha isn't interested in wonders, slow and steady is just fine (plus it lets Samantha rebuild her war chest of extra monies)

At this rate you'll have enough to get started by the end of the year.

Kaede Kanzaki-Calderon (23), 3011

Okay, these things happen.

Right.

Okay. What do my advisors and my limited (so far) military education suggest would be appropriate as an invasion and occupation plan and what unit strength would be suitable.

A full regiment with support elements should do nicely. Be enough to stomp the locals into the ground.

Let's see what can be done about that.

Yep. And I'd like a 2d6 roll please.

It's not a bad principle and I'll give it a try

He gives you a friendly smile.

Would they be interested in seeing what they can do with the Fuel Cell technology we've started using for our vehicles?

He would.

Though EVERYONE is pretty clear. Wait until he's out of Liao's employ first.

Classy. What's in the data-packet?

EVERYTHING they have on the Haven pirates including a rather complete breakdown of a couple of their main bases and its forces.

Seems MIIO has a couple spies within the organization. No location though. If they had that they'd probably have crushed them themselves.

Hanse frowns. "Tempting but we need something bigger. Something big enough for Max to get stupid over."

Yeah... though I don't see there EVER being a Toro IIC. Though maybe a version modified with it...

Clan tech upgrade.

Think we could bribe someone to pass us the specs? Any any other open source designs out there?

I'm willing to bribe people. I'm not above it.

Practically speaking the specs required for Production are gone. You'd have to reverse engineer them.

The Shogun is open source, but all existing models are in the hands of the Wolf Dragoons, so you'd have to make a deal with them for it

However the TDF would very much enjoy putting the Ostroc into production. Not only for ease of production (it uses the same Vlar 300 as the Marauder), its a solid fast trooper mech.

A bribe or even outright cash offer to Kong Interstellar for details on the Ostsol (a related design using the same Chassis) should be enough that a production line can be put together in 12-18 months

Ah, My thought was the extra 2 tons would go into additional heatsinks but whatever they feel is best goes.

Even with 12 heat sinks the load isn't exactly unbearable.

Heh. Well, I might be Fedsuns raised, and I might really be fond of that nation, but I'm ultimately Taurian. My family never forgot our roots and while we might have disagreed with the politics of our kin, we were never traitors.

She planned this didn't she?

Miriam you soon realize actually has no real problems with Sarah, and thinks she's wicked smart and funny. Not to mention everybody on Robinson knows about Aaron and Jessica Sandovals romance (she was a plain old commoner driving a tank who got raised up to being the wife of the 2nd or 3rd most powerful Lord in the FedSuns)

Sarah never questions your comment to Taurus, she's just massively proud of her home city (she's very much a local girl)

I nod. "I get it. Just was thinking they tend to have a longer range than most of the 'Big Guns' with the exception of the PPC."

"Practically speaking in space using PPCs, Large Lasers, or an AC5 or 10 doesn't make that big of difference. It will really shine on the light ASF, gives them an additional punch before entering the furball."

"I had a couple thoughts. First... The Quatre Belle Shipyards. I'd be interested in a join project involving them. If they can be brought back into production we'd be interested in studying them and their technology for reproduction. If they're too badly stripped, I'd be willing to buy what's left."

That gets Kara attention as she seriously considers the idea. More jumpships would be an absolute boon for the OWA. She'll pass on word to the rest of the Allevars as a serious consideration.

I frown. "Second... the Aerospace Flight School is a joke. Even with your peoples' help, it's still bad humor. We need more and better recruits. I'm thinking a recruitment drive might be in order. We need a greater degree of interest. And I had some ideas of how to do it. Question, how would you like to be a movie star..."

I'm thinking High Budget version of Top Gun to get people drooling over the idea of being ASF pilots. Classic propaganda but could be an interesting piece.

"Nah I'll be the ice cold enemy Ace whose face never gets seen," Kara answers "I'd rather get fame for my skills. Still a few TriVids of hotshot ASF aces should be awesome!"

Heh. I doubt that's our own combat... I mean, there's so many flat surfaces and so little time.

She's fun

That sort of cardio exercise ends up inside a large supply closet (which gets trashed in the process). The Salami duel (that never happened got it!) may have involved big arm length salamis used for a fencing match (followed by a demo of Icky Thump).

Thinking mid range damage dealer. Some flexibility without being overly specialized. The Challenger is a good line mech, but we need a solid trooper assault.

Plans will be worked on.

Good. I intend to become one of the best in the Sphere. I'm not going to play Ian Davion, but I can and will hold my own
Practically speaking the TDF would rather you work on dodging a bit more and really learn the trade of a Strategist.

And I tell Eve when we have a moment I need a small group of our most absolutely trusted to be assembled in the most absolutely secure area we can find. I need to have a series discussion that is going to be possibly the most top secret thing she's ever seen.

Basically I want her to prep the most paranoid conditions reasonable for this disclosure.

Said group is gathered in a farday caged war room (one of several in your palace) that's had a localized EMP set off in it to kill any possible bugs.

"Yeah, but now I need a nap..."
"Ah men, one shot then its out like a light"

"I'm hopefully going to be sending you a challenge next. What can you do with an Urbanmech?"

"A whole lot" is Stewarts reply. He sends you a few quick sketchs of Urbie's having the AC10 swapped for a PPC, a version carrying a one shot nuke wire guided missile, and several others.

I see. The weapons loadout of the MSK-9H was a goddamned masterpiece.

Defiance Industries might actually have the files on hand TMI hazards. Do you ask (TN is 5 and below)?

Yeah. Might end up seeing a version of the Hatamoto-Chi early.

Throughout 3025 LAWs Charger line seems perfectly happy plugging along.

Ah. Never been much a sports guy is why. But I can get drunk and eat curry with the best of 'em.

Huzzah!

I raise and eyebow and only just manage to keep from making a quip. "The inner sphere is a dangerous place. It's always useful to have friends and allies."

In a much less brittle manner Louise asks with a smile "How about discounts on military goods bought wholesale?"

"Most things are," I observe, "But I understand your meaning."

"Sure. I see no reason why not."

Famke has her personal contact info delivered straight to Eve the next morning first thing, along with a note wondering if you wanted to see a play? Geez its almost as if you're the Inner Sphere's most eligible bachelor given Hanse is keeping up the current Davion tradition of avoiding marriage at all costs.

Too bad they're fanatical. If they could be turned against them... hmmm...

A rebel leader Imperator Furiosa could be supplied with funding and weapons. An internal coup would simply be one leader proving her worth over another just as Odin intended vs outsiders coming in an attempt to take over.

I'm going to be hearing 'rumors' won't it?

Considering you aren't female it really shouldn't be an issue at all. She was brought up more as an example of the "Lady be crazy so avoid please" list.

Watch her. Blackmail material is useful.

Sadly she's on her best behavior in the Concordat, but in the Cappellan March, well she's a firm and ardent supporter of Michael Hasek.

Yeah. And I'm the guy from the great house who used to shop for Hawaiian shirts at thrift stores because I couldn't see the point of wasting perfectly good c-bills to buy my casual clothes retail.

You now get hand delivered Hawaiian shirts made from silk and prices tags of at least a thousand C-bills each if not more.

I've always been the close cropped and slicked back type. If my hair takes me more than 30 seconds to get presentable after leaving the shower, I'll think I'm wasting time...

Yeah. I'm probably going to get mugged by Moneypenny and her fashion police.

Mugged is such a harsh word. Your Aunt Ayala simply has Moneypenny book you in for several hours long consultations to build you an appropriate wardrobe.

I grin and join in. After I smile and lean in. "Lets talk later, shall we?"

Lady Kelly practically purrs at that "Oh I'm looking forward to it already." So she saunters away, hips and hair swaying in way that draws attention to her taut rear

Hm. How loyal? How hard will it be to turn her?

As it stands now. a) She'd rather be shot than let the Fed Suns take over Victoria b) the CapCon is too strong and the TC to weak to consider flipping

So, who's next? Lisa Steiner?

Actually Kara Avellar (your first time meeting her), looking very dashing in her formal Alliance uniform, as she hustles you outside to a small balcony "Ah Protector Calderon you look like a man who could use a moment to cool off after those last few dances"

Outside Ms Mayumi Saegusa, heiress to Wingman, is leaning on the balcony with a glass of white wine in hand. Kara the cunning pilot swiftly ensures you are wedged between her and Mayumi. "Let me introduce my good friend Mayumi Saegusa, heiress to Wingman Enterprises. "

"Kara," Mayumi growls out with a bit of ice cold fury, before turning her gaze upwards and giving Samuel a brilliant smile. "My pleasure to finally meet you tonight. I'm not much of a dancer so I'd thought to take a bit of fresh air."

Ah. Right. I'm sure that'll send the Bioroids into a tizzy.

Practically speaking the specs required for Production are gone. You'd have to reverse engineer them.

Do it. Having access to an actual recorded copy would be useful, and while I've been focusing on open field weapons, a solid urban defense unit would be damned useful.

Plus we can let Mr. Bell loose on them and see if we can't get some other uses out of the Chassis.

The Shogun is open source, but all existing models are in the hands of the Wolf Dragoons, so you'd have to make a deal with them for it

Someone is sent with a set of one-use pads

However the TDF would very much enjoy putting the Ostroc into production. Not only for ease of production (it uses the same Vlar 300 as the Marauder), its a solid fast trooper mech.

Do it.

A bribe or even outright cash offer to Kong Interstellar for details on the Ostsol (a related design using the same Chassis) should be enough that a production line can be put together in 12-18 months

Which would be cheaper and more useful in the long run? Either way... do it.

Even with 12 heat sinks the load isn't exactly unbearable.

True. Up to the tech boys as if I go anywhere from here it'll be into an assault.

Well, we do become friends and I do make sure she's able to help with most of my evil plans.

[/QUOTE]"Practically speaking in space using PPCs, Large Lasers, or an AC5 or 10 doesn't make that big of difference. It will really shine on the light ASF, gives them an additional punch before entering the furball."[/QUOTE]

True true. I personally think they're an outstanding pair with the Saber. Massive opening punch combined with a fast, highly agile dogfighter. Makes a solid interceptor.

That gets Kara attention as she seriously considers the idea. More jumpships would be an absolute boon for the OWA. She'll pass on word to the rest of the Allevars as a serious consideration.

Thanks. Like I said before, we need to stick together.

"Nah I'll be the ice cold enemy Ace whose face never gets seen," Kara answers "I'd rather get fame for my skills. Still a few TriVids of hotshot ASF aces should be awesome!"

"Part of the allure will be all the characters are played by actual pilots who do their own flying and stunts... the message? These people are completely fucking awesome. And if you the Aerospace Flight School, you too can be completely fucking awesome. But we can discuss rolls after getting a script."

I want to talk to the best writers in the Concordant and the best aces we have. And yeah, Kara can be a rival ace if she wants.

That sort of cardio exercise ends up inside a large supply closet (which gets trashed in the process).

I can pay for the damages.

The Salami duel (that never happened got it!) may have involved big arm length salamis used for a fencing match (followed by a demo of Icky Thump).

I'm not ashamed. :p

Plans will be worked on.

Good.

Practically speaking the TDF would rather you work on dodging a bit more and really learn the trade of a Strategist.

Yeah, I'll do that too. Though I want to improve my gunnery even more.

Said group is gathered in a farday caged war room (one of several in your palace) that's had a localized EMP set off in it to kill any possible bugs.

I also want white noise and every other system possible set up. I even order everyone to put on clean room suits that have been triple checked.

And everyone is handed an NDA that is pretty much the harshest we've got. This is beyond what comes beyond Top Secret.

"You must be wondering why I've gone to such measures to ensure information security. The reason is simple and has everything to do with my life's work. I believe... actually, I'm rather sure I know... the location... of a Terran Hegemony Memory Datacore. Not the abridged libertarians they handed out to the Member States, but the real deal." I pause, "Though I'm also pretty sure I also know the location of several Star League memory cores."

I let that sink in for a moment. Then I inform them of the locations. New Dallas. Helm. Possibly Illyria and the Epsilon Pegasus system.

New Dallas was one of the core worlds of the Terran Hegemony. When the eagles attacked, they destroyed all the line defenses but the Terrans were packrats and the FWL never bothered to loot the place. The planet was too radioactive.

There should be a major depot full of older war-gear there and it was standard operating procedure back then to keep library data-cores on hand at all major installations.

Helm, I have suspicions as to the location of the planet's secret treasure trove.

Illyria. There was a base on planet doing advanced drone research, probably to add ground combat capability to the Regan SDS system.

And Epsilon Pegasus is the location of an SL deep range periphery research base, maintenance yard, and listening post.

I'll be quite simple. I'd like to investigate Helm and Illyria. I absolutely WANT the New Dallas and Columbus cashes.

"Ah men, one shot then its out like a light"

I chuckle.

"A whole lot" is Stewarts reply. He sends you a few quick sketchs of Urbie's having the AC10 swapped for a PPC, a version carrying a one shot nuke wire guided missile, and several others.

"I see. So, what could you do with an Urbanmech factory?"

Defiance Industries might actually have the files on hand TMI hazards. Do you ask (TN is 5 and below)?

Why not.

Throughout 3025 LAWs Charger line seems perfectly happy plugging along.

Ok

Good Food. It's another weakness.

In a much less brittle manner Louise asks with a smile "How about discounts on military goods bought wholesale?"

"As long as it's bought in bulk... we can talk" I grin.

You'd almost think he had evil plans.

Wait. It's Hanse Davion. He always has evil plans.

A rebel leader Imperator Furiosa could be supplied with funding and weapons. An internal coup would simply be one leader proving her worth over another just as Odin intended vs outsiders coming in an attempt to take over.

Do it.

Considering you aren't female it really shouldn't be an issue at all. She was brought up more as an example of the "Lady be crazy so avoid please" list.

No, I just want to take photographs of the content of her closet.

Sadly she's on her best behavior in the Concordat, but in the Cappellan March, well she's a firm and ardent supporter of Michael Hasek.

Send people. Having leverage over your neighbors is a good thing.

You now get hand delivered Hawaiian shirts made from silk and prices tags of at least a thousand C-bills each if not more.

But.. but that removes all the FUN! I LIKE SHOPPING AT THRIFT STORES!

Mugged is such a harsh word. Your Aunt Ayala simply has Moneypenny book you in for several hours long consultations to build you an appropriate wardrobe.

And I'm sure the several very large and intimidating men who were glaring at me the whole time were entirely for my benefit...

Lady Kelly practically purrs at that "Oh I'm looking forward to it already." So she saunters away, hips and hair swaying in way that draws attention to her taut rear

I'm so gonna hit that.

As it stands now. a) She'd rather be shot than let the Fed Suns take over Victoria

Understandable. They did kinda BLOW HER ARM OFF.

b) the CapCon is too strong and the TC to weak to consider flipping

I intend to fix that soon as well.

"I as well. Getting a little tense in there. So I assume there is a history and I'm getting the feeling I'm the target of some evil feminine plot care to share?" I smile.

A full regiment with support elements should do nicely. Be enough to stomp the locals into the ground.
Since the Concordat Commandos are rebuilding, let's send the Taurian Velites this time. Unless another regiment is particularly recommended? For shipping needs, the supporting elements probably come from closer worlds to the Haven cluster though.

Yep. And I'd like a 2d6 roll please.

He gives you a friendly smile.
Let's hope he doesn't get the wrong idea. That would doom any hope for peace.

He would.

Though EVERYONE is pretty clear. Wait until he's out of Liao's employ first.
Quite alright. On that topic, have TMI see about infiltrating agents onto New Delos on the grounds that knowing what Anton Marik will be getting up to with the FWL's Capellan front will give us some idea how much pressure Max is under.

EVERYTHING they have on the Haven pirates including a rather complete breakdown of a couple of their main bases and its forces.

Seems MIIO has a couple spies within the organization. No location though. If they had that they'd probably have crushed them themselves.
Very handy.

Hanse frowns. "Tempting but we need something bigger. Something big enough for Max to get stupid over."
"I'll be making a personal inspection."

(I will reassure my advisors that I will be doing no such thing. But the Chancellor can be kept from knowing this.)

New research projects: see if our engineers have or can work up rocket launchers and medium range missiles. They may not be very accurate but for things like bunker-busting and finishing off immobilised units they have uses.

They'll handle it.

You think you're starting to get the wrong idea. That's what the roll was for. You're not stupid or anything but he's very much the fairy tail prince. Handsome, charming, kind, and with a really nice...

Your marshals admit that he pretty much gifted you this campaign. They're going to know most of what they're going to face and where to hit first.

Hanse frowns. "In that case he'd be more likely to send a command force to do something idiotic like kidnap you and replace you with a body double."

Ian snorts. "Even Max Liao isn't that stupid."

"Worst case. What you need is something so fat, so juicy that he loses his mind. Like maybe... a Castle Brian full of Star League treasure?"

Yeah. They're going to have contingency plans of course, but this makes life a whole lot simpler.

Much. And they agree to it.

As for why, well, better to talk about that crap up front than bitch about it later on when everyone is tired and well armed.

Hah, point.

"Well then, Lady Centrella if that's all, I need to start talking with my generals. I've a feeling they're going to be overworked in a bit. Don't let me detain you."

After that, well time to call a meeting a of the privy council. There I ask the military exactly what plans we had in place in case we ever wanted to try to take back Rollis. When they ask my why, I answer that I think it's time to take back Rollis.

OOC: Okay so according to what I can tell, I've got the Taurian Gaurds, I Corps, II Corps, III Corps, and maybe the IV if Thomas was able to scrap together the mechs(he made it originally in response to the Forth Succession War, and the formation of the FedCom). So that's what? 12 regiments, 14 if the IV is functional. Man I'm going to need some mercenaries for this. Time to get digging.

Samantha Calderon April 3025
"Comstar has their hands so far up the boy's ass that he's functionally a sockpuppet," he replies coolly.

"Not immediately, but there are... plans in motion," he admits. "Janos is a fool and with Thomas as Captain-General we might as well change the letterhead and start worshiping toasters."

"I find that with time and consideration you can often find ways to align them."

Samantha lets Duncan lay out his argument. "All thoughts to consider"

Samantha stowed her que and grabbed a big long tube "I've got a bloody big map of the Inner Sphere laid out flat, decent enough for poking at thoughts." Getting Duncan's assistance to lay the plastic map out over the billiards table Samantha pulls out a 30 and 60 LY template of clear plastic.

"Thinking about it the Feddies and Lyran's will want everything within 30 lightyears of Terra," Samantha commented nudging the 30 LY template into place over Terra. "Which means either prepping to re-enforce Sirian's or dropping them for the FWL. "Tikonov is too juicy a target not to grab either. Plus the various thumbs into the Feddies portion of old Hegemony Space."

"Still the Cappies ability to move troops will still help them out. Now on the other hand if thrusts from Andurien and Oriente started happening into Crappy space while the TC started moving in to pin the far corner" Samantha trailed off.

"Hm. I'd have through you'd still seize Rollis during the chaos. Be something of a coup to regain a lost world."

"Not if the Big MAC wasn't tied up, say what you will about Archibald the man's a bloody dangerous General" Samantha answered.

He chuckles. "I will do what I can. After all, this is officially a trade mission and it would be unseemly for me to come out without the exchange of goods"

Samantha will wait on the follow up.

Morgan is dashing and somewhat tall with long hair and great and noble features. The kinda guy who makes girls swoon. "It's an honor to meet you, Protector Samantha."

"Mine as well Morgan, please call me Samantha," Sam answers "Given we're going to be dealing with each for a very long time. I do appreciate the bold gesture Hanse is making sending you to my court at the same time your Father orders raids into my realm, it does give me hope that a quiet peace may be possible along our nations mutual borders. "

The man's got hutzpa you gotta admit it. Plus you know he likes impressive wedding gifts... who knows what he'd offer if you make it worth his time.

A chance to be absorbed into the FedCom? Samantha's perfectly happy being the well armed, fairly neutral weapons dealer.

The two men are geniuses and that much is clear to see. They seem to develop a friendly rivalry and spent their time in the sims basically trying to work around eachother.

In the end Samantha has the Taurian Guard work up a final scenario for both; right at the start of a battle between the two forces the SLDF in Exile using practically mechs with better than Royal gear appears with a great deal of sound and fury to smash into both their forces.

Sam insists on having the Guards programs set up mechs with full XL, endo and FF, with stupidly long range lasers, ultra light LRMs, and all sorts of other tech goodies.

Afterwards Samantha asks "So gentlemen how was it to work together against an outside force?"

Oh my how appropriate

Well, you spend the time with the dirtiest old man in the Concordant. He's actually a total gentlemen.

Samantha's not surprised but a week in the sun relaxing is important as well.

The issue is... well... they're not exactly sure where they put the Sentinal's tooling. And even then they'd have to unpack and rebuild the line specifically to be able to copy it. The Assault would actually be CHEAPER for them.

Huh well in that case how about the Zeus?

Not many. Most of the absolute crap didn't make it past muster. As for how many are nothing special? D12

D12 below

Sounds acceptable. Any salvage?

Generous salvage rights

Once they get landholds they swear to herself. THe Concordant Military doesn't take any oaths to the protector.

Actually any dashing young ladies among the lot?

Very appreciated. Though why not Merlins?

Samantha was lumping the Merlins in with the rest of the heavies

"Why bother with idiots at all?"

"Well not idiots, they were smart enough to come to the TC," Samantha acknowledges "Besides even Laconis needs guards and being exposed to the Cappies might inspire them to work hard to shape up."

Well... one of their regiments along including the black widows are now tearing ass for the concordant and they're not answering Takashi Kurita's calls except they have personal buisness what must be handled...

Whenever the Dragoons come into contactable range Samantha leaves a suggestion that they head to New Vandenberg

YES!

Um. I mean we would be interested but I need to contact my superiors.

"The devils in the details," Samantha acknowledges. "I have no desire to exploit the OWA purely for the Concordats gain. An equitable deal for both sides is better."

They share a look. "When you put it that way I can understand your suspicions. Have any evidence, m'lady?"

They think you're being paranoid as hell (maybe clothes would have been a good idea) but they're willing to entertain your ideas as at least it's more sane than your predecessor's fear of the Suns.

"Beyond slipping a spy mission into Titan Yards to figure out how much of the fleet Kerensky left behind at Terra has been fixed up, or onto Terra itself to break into Hilton Head nothing concrete. The patterns are there, but" Samantha shrugs "I'm willing to plan for a hostile Terra."

"Not sure. Billions."

These are staff officers not military contractors

Samantha orders the Marshall of the TCN to start drawing up plans for a new Fleet base hidden somewhere inside a mined out asteroid in the Hyades. Trusted staff to be vetted by TMI fully.

At this rate you'll have enough to get started by the end of the year.

Also just before Morgan arrives on planet Samantha has a fairly important Ministry of Foreign Affairs drop in to the Cappellan Embassy and inquire if they are planning on sending a trade mission as well

Good good.

Ian nods. "That would be the find of the millennia..."

Sounds good. Let's see about some sort of simple weapons-carrier to employ them. It's possible we'll refit some production lines to use them on 'Mechs and so forth but for now my main thinking is to fit them on a light/medium tracked vehicle and use them as blunt instruments.

Samantha Calderon April 3025

Samantha lets Duncan lay out his argument. "All thoughts to consider"

At the moment he wishes to remain in contact and see how you can aid eachother's agendas. The benefit of your states is simple in his eyes. Security, prosperity, and the matniance of a reasonably high degree of civil liberties.

"Still the Cappies ability to move troops will still help them out. Now on the other hand if thrusts from Andurien and Oriente started happening into Crappy space while the TC started moving in to pin the far corner" Samantha trailed off.

"That degree of aid might be enough to get them to reconsider any attacks on the Free World's League, or at least choose to annex those worlds via exchange and negotiation... a beneficial one... rather than conflict. I can think of a number of border worlds I'd be willing to accept trade."

He looks thoughtful.

"Not if the Big MAC wasn't tied up, say what you will about Archibald the man's a bloody dangerous General" Samantha answered.

"I agree," he replies. "I'd begin with a raid on Menke from the pirate point. Drop as many Mechs on him as possible before he can coordinate a solid defense. Though it might behoove you to somehow cripple them before an invasion."

Samantha will wait on the follow up.

So what are you looking for and what are you offering?

"Mine as well Morgan, please call me Samantha," Sam answers "Given we're going to be dealing with each for a very long time. I do appreciate the bold gesture Hanse is making sending you to my court at the same time your Father orders raids into my realm, it does give me hope that a quiet peace may be possible along our nations mutual borders. "

He sighs. "My uncle would like to assure you that any raids suffered have not been authorized and has demanded that my father cease and desist but so far he's been..." he frowns. "Less than cooperative. My father is very skillful at creating excuses. "

A chance to be absorbed into the FedCom? Samantha's perfectly happy being the well armed, fairly neutral weapons dealer.

Depends on what you have to offer. He wants a nice big happy Inner Sphere. A FedCom aligned Taurian Concordant would be very much in his benefit.

In the end Samantha has the Taurian Guard work up a final scenario for both; right at the start of a battle between the two forces the SLDF in Exile using practically mechs with better than Royal gear appears with a great deal of sound and fury to smash into both their forces.

The general reaction is WTF?

Sam insists on having the Guards programs set up mechs with full XL, endo and FF, with stupidly long range lasers, ultra light LRMs, and all sorts of other tech goodies.

And any modifications to their tactics?

Afterwards Samantha asks "So gentlemen how was it to work together against an outside force?"

Depends on how they fought.

Oh my how appropriate

Heh.

Samantha's not surprised but a week in the sun relaxing is important as well.

True true...

Huh well in that case how about the Zeus?

Fine. Though hey want some conditions. They'd rather their designs not simply be thrown across the Inner Sphere. Please be mindful of who you sell to.

Generally 50/50 mix of Good and simply acceptable.

She nods looking quite pleased with herself. "Of course, Protector Alejandro."

They're a bit surprised, but considering that the Capallan military was brutalized by the FedCom have lost a great deal of space and are currently under attack, if there ever was a time, it is now.
Also, I inform the Ministers of Trade and Colonization, the Interior, and the head of the Diplomat corps the terms of the agreement made between myself and the Ambassador. Personally I'm of the opinion that any agreement is only worth the paper it's signed on, as this is still entirely verbal...

I would appreciate them sending someone over to the Magistrix to get this formalized.

The IV corps is up and running. You're one of the largest net exporters of battlemechs around. You have the units.

What's your plan?
The current plan, is wait a few months, get the I, II, and III corps ready to move out and then have the three of them take Rollis along with whatever mercenary support I can scrounge up. Have the Taurian Guards and IV Corps stick around and act as guards/reserves. Second wave is to take Larsha, Yursi, Corodiz, though, depending on how many mercenaries I can get, I'd also like to Zanzibar and Muridox. After that third and forth wave are to try and take Jacson, Mitchell, Victoria, and Menke. We'll see how good of a shape we're in after that.

Now as to the question of mercenaries. Do you want me to generalize the contract offers made?

Or do you want me to list out specific units I try to see are available?

For general, I'm offering two types of contracts, one is garrison duties for company level units and lower. Any lances and individual mechs will be grouped together into company sized forces and ordered to garrison the areas that were guarded by the Corps. They're offered enough pay to take care of their operating expenses, and with hazard pay authorized in case of actual combat as well as at cost discounts for any ammunition used. In addition, if they participate in any coordinated training with the local forces, they will be reimbursed for time spent, though not to the extent of the hazard pay. As for salvage, they get first pick of anything they shoot down.

The second type of contract is for those who are at least a battalion level and above. They'll be offered pay at well above their operating expenses and as well as generous hazard pay, with their ammunition supplies to be taken care of in gratis. They will be offered free use of the army's support technicians for those that need it, but obviously only after the army's needs are met. They have right to all salvage they personally shoot down, and first pick of any combined kills. In addition they will receive a 25% discount on any military purchase made from the Concordat for the next five years. Mechs, armor, planes, weapons, ammo, they get the discount.

I'm hoping to at least get five more regiments to attack with, out of these terms.

She's not accepting gentlemen callers.
Pity.

Want to see how it turns out?

I'd like 3 rolls of 2d6
[dice]1910[/dice][dice]1911[/dice][dice]1912[/dice]
I suspect that that's a yay!

2d6 poker face check.
[dice]1913[/dice][dice]1914[/dice]
...I'm never going to make a good poker player, am I?

Hanse leans back. "I think it would behoove all of us if we were told your entire plan. That way we could have MIIO leak the information to Mask. It would also allow us to prepare for our own attack. Have Liao think we're going to try and claim the prize when in reality we intend to move in your support."
Deadpan. "We have a large supply of nuclear weapons. It's probably best if your forces are positioned to strike at Menke rather than being in any proximity to Laconis. It might complicate matters if you were involved there."

In the meantime they could bolt an unholy number onto the standard LRM/SRM carrier chassis
If Quikscell agree then that's fine. But get their written permission first - I don't want to piss them off when they've been so reasonable about their new factory here. If they want to buy MRMs and Rocket Launchers from our weapon manufacturers and produce the carriers themselves, that would be fine.

Ah. Right. I'm sure that'll send the Bioroids into a tizzy.

All things are possible in 25+ years after all.

Do it. Having access to an actual recorded copy would be useful, and while I've been focusing on open field weapons, a solid urban defense unit would be damned useful.

Plus we can let Mr. Bell loose on them and see if we can't get some other uses out of the Chassis.

Roll a 1d6 for how long it takes to reverse engineer the Urbie

Someone is sent with a set of one-use pads

They're on their way slowly crossing the Sphere to the Dragoons in the DC.

Do it.

Which would be cheaper and more useful in the long run? Either way... do it.

You actually end up buying out Kong Interstellar for pennies on the dollar after a series of misfortunes basically caused the companies financial structure to implode. What would have turned into an absolute mess gets nipped in the bud quickly with you as a White Knight Investor.

You've got the plans and bits and pieces of the lines for the following mech's and a mostly ruined factory on Connaught in the FWL.

]Ostscout, Ostsol, Black Knight, and the Harvester Ant Industrial Mech

Practically speaking TTI believes they can get an Ostsol line up and running in mid to late 3026 now that they have the chassis data for the Ostsol.

Do you intend to break ground for a new Kong Interstellar plant in the TC now that you own it completely?

True. Up to the tech boys as if I go anywhere from here it'll be into an assault.

At least it won't be into a Charger

Well, we do become friends and I do make sure she's able to help with most of my evil plans.

Subaltern Ferguson is a great help in running things, and she's more than happy to become friends with you.

True true. I personally think they're an outstanding pair with the Saber. Massive opening punch combined with a fast, highly agile dogfighter. Makes a solid interceptor.

Its does indeed.

Things get put together. Roll a 2d6 for the Movie

I can pay for the damages.

On that roll a 1d100

Yeah, I'll do that too. Though I want to improve my gunnery even more.

Really you are at the stage where its sheer experience on the battlefield is going to be needed to improve your gunnery further.

Jaws drop all around the room. You've got clues for literally the holy grails of LosTech. Hegemony Memory Cores.

The biggest priority its reasonably felt is the New Dallas cache. Apart from being easier to get to having actually been on star maps and charts its a dead world without having noisy locals wondering what you're getting up too.

An stealth mission to Columbus will take around 18+ months of travel time each way, a substantial effort.

As for Helm. TMI's head comes up with a suggestion; send in an agent under orders to retrieve the memory core and nothing else under a cover of being a tourist.

"I see. So, what could you do with an Urbanmech factory?"

"Wish I had a way of evolving Urbies into Imps" Bell replies back quick as a whip. "In all truth most likely knock out a variety of Urbies for urban defense. They are fairly easy to mod."

"As long as it's bought in bulk... we can talk" I grin.

"Hmm this is far too lovely an event to spoil it with business, but I look forward to our future discussions." Louise answers honestly.

Your staff end up getting contacted later on in the week regarding bulk purchases of military equipment.

You'd almost think he had evil plans.

Wait. It's Hanse Davion. He always has evil plans.

In this case it might be an evil plan of "Toss the eligible bachelorettes Samuel's way until Melissa is 18".

TMI figures out a way to trickle funding and infantry weapons Furiosa's way.

No, I just want to take photographs of the content of her closet.

Heh, its merely a young womans closest. Whats disturbing is her rapidly increasing proficiency in using trench knives in CQC.

Send people. Having leverage over your neighbors is a good thing.

Roll 2d6 labeled "Spy vs Spy"

But.. but that removes all the FUN! I LIKE SHOPPING AT THRIFT STORES!

Aunt Ayala merely sniffs and hides her smirk behind a cup of tea. She's always been annoyed with that one habit.

And I'm sure the several very large and intimidating men who were glaring at me the whole time were entirely for my benefit...

Not large intimidating men, but several amazons in extremely sharp formal outfits with very pointy heels.

I'm so gonna hit that.

Ms Moneypenny discretely arranges a night out up in the mountains later in the week. There's a wonderful little lodge that serves up wonderful food and complete privacy on the shore of a pristine mountain lake.

Understandable. They did kinda BLOW HER ARM OFF.

I intend to fix that soon as well.

Given you aren't urgently needing another heir there isn't intense pressure for you to marry fast and start rebuilding the Calderons. You've got time if you want to pursue wooing Lady Kelly (and conquering of the CapCon)

"I as well. Getting a little tense in there. So I assume there is a history and I'm getting the feeling I'm the target of some evil feminine plot care to share?" I smile.

"Kara insists on dropping by our plant on Perdition whenever she gets a bit of leave. Partly to test fly new production units but to also 'get me off my stodgy old lady ass'" Mayumi answers sweetly. You quickly get the feeling the two are friends who thoroughly enjoy poking at one another.

"Well it certainly wasn't me who cleared that discotech," Kara retorts cheerfully before commenting soto voice to you "Keep her away from tequila, Mayumi turns into a real fiend on it"

"Ignore whatever spills from Kara's mouth," Mayumi continues on "She spins tales to cover for her faulty memory. As for an evil feminine plot.... well there's the very rich"

Mayumi points to herself at that, "followed by the hyper rich and then there's you. Lots of ladies find money and power very attractive, and you're one of the richest in human space."

"Don't discount the fairy tales" Kara chirps in as Mayumi nods along. "You've got tragedy, drama and are being cast as young Prince Charming."

That woul be a no to the Mackie I guess... :(

Sadly yet another Mech lost to the Succession Wars.

I suspect that that's a yay!

Yeah. You get the news. You own a new star cluster. They put up a HELL of a fight and it seems that MIIO missed a company that spends most of its time fucking about in the deep periphery, but you pretty much caught them completely unawares. Most losses were damage to fighters and dropships. Once the mechs were on the ground they had them outnumbered 2-1 and out massed by almost 3-1 and out skilled by... well... pirates aren't exactly aces. THe Taurian Guards on the otherhand are pretty fucking good at that they do and what they do is kick ass.

[dice]1913[/dice][dice]1914[/dice]
...I'm never going to make a good poker player, am I?

Hanse raises an eyebrow.

"If you do happen to find a treasure trove like that. Let us know. We'll discuss the going rate of arms, legs, mortal souls, first born children and how many you'd want of each."

Deadpan. "We have a large supply of nuclear weapons. It's probably best if your forces are positioned to strike at Menke rather than being in any proximity to Laconis. It might complicate matters if you were involved there."

Shared shudder and grimace. Though Hanse does have a laugh. "So, sending Liao a reminder. 'Remember the Ares Convention that we didn't sign'."

If Quikscell agree then that's fine. But get their written permission first - I don't want to piss them off when they've been so reasonable about their new factory here. If they want to buy MRMs and Rocket Launchers from our weapon manufacturers and produce the carriers themselves, that would be fine.

They'd like to license the designs (which will be a comfortable moneymaker) and add them to their existing facalties. This of course means you get a cut on every unit and this IS one of those techs that'll take almost zero effort to reverse engineer

All things are possible in 25+ years after all.

True

Roll a 1d6 for how long it takes to reverse engineer the Urbie

Okay.

You actually end up buying out Kong Interstellar for pennies on the dollar after a series of misfortunes basically caused the companies financial structure to implode. What would have turned into an absolute mess gets nipped in the bud quickly with you as a White Knight Investor.

I love being the Big Damned Hero. Any other companies in straights like that which we could use to profit the Concordant?

You've got the plans and bits and pieces of the lines for the following mech's and a mostly ruined factory on Connaught in the FWL.

]Ostscout, Ostsol, Black Knight, and the Harvester Ant Industrial Mech

Would it be better to move them to the concordant or repair the lines their?
Practically speaking TTI believes they can get an Ostsol line up and running in mid to late 3026 now that they have the chassis data for the Ostsol.
]

Good.

Do you intend to break ground for a new Kong Interstellar plant in the TC now that you own it completely?

Of course. I bought it myself. I want the Kong designs all produced in the Concordant. Including the Harvester Ant which I want multiple lines.

At least it won't be into a Charger

Amen.

Subaltern Ferguson is a great help in running things, and she's more than happy to become friends with you.

Nice. Maybe eventually friends and lovers, though I have to marry extremely wisely. I need to build up the family and secure a powerful marriage alliance.

If it gets there, I will not toy with her feelings but I will also be open minded and honest.

Would they be useful for the OWA? I could always build a plant there.

Things get put together. Roll a 2d6 for the Movie

See bottom.

On that roll a 1d100

Seriously? It was just a supply closet...

Really you are at the stage where its sheer experience on the battlefield is going to be needed to improve your gunnery further.

Basically I'm a sniper but I need to pay attention in piloting school a bit more. I focused a bit too heavily on the shooting part of piloting a mech

Jaws drop all around the room. You've got clues for literally the holy grails of LosTech. Hegemony Memory Cores.

"And Auntie always said flea markets and thrift stores were a waste of time..."

The biggest priority its reasonably felt is the New Dallas cache. Apart from being easier to get to having actually been on star maps and charts its a dead world without having noisy locals wondering what you're getting up too.

I agree. I want a secret mission with a good security contingent and a couple really big cargo droppers ready to strip the place of anything of value.

An stealth mission to Columbus will take around 18+ months of travel time each way, a substantial effort.

But IMHO well worth it. I want another dropship with a cargo compliment readied.

As for Helm. TMI's head comes up with a suggestion; send in an agent under orders to retrieve the memory core and nothing else under a cover of being a tourist.

"Good idea. We can get the core, or at least a copy of the data and the core computer's encryption keys out without being detected."

As for Illyria we could probably do the same, or set up a false mining operation.

"Wish I had a way of evolving Urbies into Imps" Bell replies back quick as a whip. "In all truth most likely knock out a variety of Urbies for urban defense. They are fairly easy to mod."

"Well, you're going to get one. I plan on building an Urbanmech line to supply our urban militas and I'd like to see what else can be done with it. I'm going to put you in charge of it and set the Hat in the Ring to defending it. From there I want you and your people to form part of a specialist R&D branch. Your job will be simple. You'll be given stock chassis of every mech we produce. If we start a new line, you get new samples. From there your orders are simple. Tinker and test. Successful modifications will become refit kits or even additional stock models."

All the mechs and toys you can ever play with and a standing order to 'Go Nuts'.

A Technician's dream.

"Hmm this is far too lovely an event to spoil it with business, but I look forward to our future discussions." Louise answers honestly.

"Of course, my lady."

I look over to her bodyguard. "You are a lucky man. Treat her well or I will have you shot."

I wink.

Your staff end up getting contacted later on in the week regarding bulk purchases of military equipment.

And we arrange a reasonably generous trade offer. Though I might want to buy some designs from them in the future.

In this case it might be an evil plan of "Toss the eligible bachelorettes Samuel's way until Melissa is 18".

Heh.

TMI figures out a way to trickle funding and infantry weapons Furiosa's way.

Mechs taken as combat salvage as well.

Heh, its merely a young womans closest. Whats disturbing is her rapidly increasing proficiency in using trench knives in CQC.

You know what I mean

Roll 2d6 labeled "Spy vs Spy"

Can do

Aunt Ayala merely sniffs and hides her smirk behind a cup of tea. She's always been annoyed with that one habit.

Fuck that.

Not large intimidating men, but several amazons in extremely sharp formal outfits with very pointy heels.

"So what, if I don't listen is it Death by Snoo-Snoo?"

Ms Moneypenny discretely arranges a night out up in the mountains later in the week. There's a wonderful little lodge that serves up wonderful food and complete privacy on the shore of a pristine mountain lake.

Alright.

Given you aren't urgently needing another heir there isn't intense pressure for you to marry fast and start rebuilding the Calderons. You've got time if you want to pursue wooing Lady Kelly (and conquering of the CapCon)

Yep. I'm not intending to marry any time soon, but I intend to collect close friends and lovers.

"I don't know. I think you have a very nice ass."

"Well it certainly wasn't me who cleared that discotech," Kara retorts cheerfully before commenting soto voice to you "Keep her away from tequila, Mayumi turns into a real fiend on it"

"Dos tequilas por favor!"

"You forgot the part about the 'Is a head of state and a sexual tyrannosaurs."

"Don't discount the fairy tales" Kara chirps in as Mayumi nods along. "You've got tragedy, drama and are being cast as young Prince Charming."

"I'm a bit too swarthy and raw to a Prince Charming."

Sadly yet another Mech lost to the Succession Wars.

Shit.

So, what is the general opinion outside the concordant of my massive industrial buildup.

I'd also like to talk to Piper about building a coup Hopper lines in the Concordant. Or if such a design doesn't exist, I'd like to have a light duty utility shuttle build along these lines... and I want multiple lines. Another way to boost ASF interest is to make it a more marketable skill. And tons of little utility shuttles are a useful thing as well.

Same with the Aardvark I posted above.
[dice]1915[/dice]

Nice.

[dice]1916[/dice]

Shit. Bad. Real bad. But not OMFG ultra hori-bad. Can I scrap the script and try again in a couple months? o_O

[dice]1917[/dice]

I take it this was the "pregnancy surprise" roll

[dice]1918[/dice]

Meh. Could be a lot worse

Hanse thinks so. And he tends to do most of the heavy lifting.
I'm tempted to offer them advice on diplomatic options but it'd be inappropriate.

Yeah. You get the news. You own a new star cluster. Excellent. I imagine it'll take a while to get them back in order and turn this into a more civilised world of the Concordat.

Time to move forward to 3012? Other than the ongoing conversation of course.

Hanse raises an eyebrow.

"If you do happen to find a treasure trove like that. Let us know. We'll discuss the going rate of arms, legs, mortal souls, first born children and how many you'd want of each."
"I really can't afford Davion firstborns. And even if I find a possible prize, as with Halstead Station it may be outside my reach. The Federated Suns has a longer reach though..."

Shared shudder and grimace. Though Hanse does have a laugh. "So, sending Liao a reminder. 'Remember the Ares Convention that we didn't sign'."
Retaliation is a possible issue I'll need to keep in mind.

They'd like to license the designs (which will be a comfortable moneymaker) and add them to their existing facalties. This of course means you get a cut on every unit and this IS one of those techs that'll take almost zero effort to reverse engineer
Sounds like a good deal to me.

Kaede Kanzaki-Calderon (23), 3011

I'm tempted to offer them advice on diplomatic options but it'd be inappropriate.

Oh really.

Excellent. I imagine it'll take a while to get them back in order and turn this into a more civilised world of the Concordat.

It's actually a rather shockingly nice world. It's a bit barren, it's a bit smaller than the norm, and it has heavy-ish gravity... but it doesn't need much terraforming to make it much nicer and it is EXTREMELY rich in minerals.

Time to move forward to 3012? Other than the ongoing conversation of course.

If you don't have any other evil plans.

"I really can't afford Davion firstborns. And even if I find a possible prize, as with Halstead Station it may be outside my reach. The Federated Suns has a longer reach though..."

Ian and Hanse look at eachother. "What do you know? What else have you found?"

Retaliation is a possible issue I'll need to keep in mind.

True. But you could nuke them too.

Sounds like a good deal to me.

A yep!

Kaede Kanzaki-Calderon (23), 3011
It's actually a rather shockingly nice world. It's a bit barren, it's a bit smaller than the norm, and it has heavy-ish gravity... but it doesn't need much terraforming to make it much nicer and it is EXTREMELY rich in minerals.
Quite the prize then. Invite the relevant Taurian firms to look for opportunities there.

If you don't have any other evil plans.
Evil plans take time to develop. Not wise to rush them.

Any progress on Celeano, to speak of one?

Also I want to let the existing deals work through so I have Griffins and Wolverines trickling into my forces, along with all the Quikscell products. That sort of bolstering would cone in handy if things go badly with the Capellans.

Ian and Hanse look at eachother. "What do you know? What else have you found?"
"I haven't found anything else at all, yet. I may never find anything. However, to give an example, I may have a lead on a Star League naval repair facility in what's currently Lyran space. Inconveniently far away but with a little supporting data it might come in handy to trade to the Archon at some point."

True. But you could nuke them too.
Indeed. They'd probably run out of nukes first but the damage could get out of hand.

And seeing how this operation works out is another thing I want to wait on before I get too immersed in other plans.

Kaede Kanzaki-Calderon (23), 3011

Quite the prize then. Invite the relevant Taurian firms to look for opportunities there.

Yeah. The Farlookers are DROLLING.

Evil plans take time to develop. Not wise to rush them.

Hanse nods in agreement. He agrees.

Any progress on Celeano, to speak of one?

Found it. :)

Also I want to let the existing deals work through so I have Griffins and Wolverines trickling into my forces, along with all the Quikscell products. That sort of bolstering would cone in handy if things go badly with the Capellans.

You do. It'll take a little time for the lines to get to full functionality but by years end they're ramping up.

"I haven't found anything else at all, yet. I may never find anything. However, to give an example, I may have a lead on a Star League naval repair facility in what's currently Lyran space. Inconveniently far away but with a little supporting data it might come in handy to trade to the Archon at some point."

Another poker face roll.

Indeed. They'd probably run out of nukes first but the damage could get out of hand.

The Taurian Concordant probably has a bigger nuclear arsenal than most of the successor states. Combined.

And seeing how this operation works out is another thing I want to wait on before I get too immersed in other plans.

Wanna do the rolls for it?

Samantha Calderon April 3025

At the moment he wishes to remain in contact and see how you can aid eachother's agendas. The benefit of your states is simple in his eyes. Security, prosperity, and the matniance of a reasonably high degree of civil liberties.

Samantha is of course all in favor of that. Contact information including a good number one time pads are exchanged and a secure account for funds to purchase gear inside the Concordat are set up.

"It just so happens Morgan Hasek-Davion is leading a trade expedition to discuss non military matters and is due to arrive within the next few days." Samantha states calmly. "Why with such distinguished and high ranking guests I as the host really should provide a few social affairs and other entertainments. If the two of you happen to have a few long fruitful discussion...."

"I agree," he replies. "I'd begin with a raid on Menke from the pirate point. Drop as many Mechs on him as possible before he can coordinate a solid defense. Though it might behoove you to somehow cripple them before an invasion."

"The proverbial knife the in back," Samantha notes as she takes in Duncans advice. "But hammering the MAC hard will have to be a major priority."

So what are you looking for and what are you offering?

To Technitron a complete Swap of tooling and licensing of say the Marauder (it uses the same Vlar 300 as the Quickdraw) for the Awesome.

To Irian a choice of the Archer, Thunderbolt, Warhammer or Marauder swapping the tooling and license for the Stalker

To Kali Yama same choice as Irian for the Orion

Samantha on the flipside splurges some of her remaining free C-Bills on buying up stock in Kong Interstellar

He sighs. "My uncle would like to assure you that any raids suffered have not been authorized and has demanded that my father cease and desist but so far he's been..." he frowns. "Less than cooperative. My father is very skillful at creating excuses. "

"Lord Hasek-Davion as the Protector of the Taurian Concordat I assure you and the First Prince that I bare no anger to the ordinary peoples of your realm and shall endeavor that any response I make in turn is focused directly on the individuals who have raised my ire."

Samantha continues on "I can only hope to work towards a more peaceful future for both our states where all benefit. As such border controls are being loosened, tariffs, taxes and other such impediments to trade beyond safety regulations are being scaled back. Any units of the TDF that are feeling a tad restless will be directed towards making Pirates very unwelcome."

Depends on what you have to offer. He wants a nice big happy Inner Sphere. A FedCom aligned Taurian Concordant would be very much in his benefit.

Samantha willing to offer the following
* Current border for both the Concordat and FedSuns is accepted as the status quo for twenty five years (aka Sam is not asserting TC claims for old worlds while expecting the FS to not assert claim on current TC worlds)
* Greatly reduced tariffs, travel restrictions etc between the FedSuns and TC as worked out early in the year by her staff without expectation
* Loosened restrictions for sale of military gear as per Tier system
* Samantha basically is after a period of peace to build up her new colonies
* Perhaps working something out to gut both the Pirates Haven and Tortuga

Flipside the following is off the table

* Formally aligning the TC with the FedCom
* Rejection of any return to the core goals of the Pollux Proclamation aka one state ruling over all of humanity
* TCs policy of open sales won't exclude any state (but not all states will be equal)

More privately Samantha also pulls Morgan aside for a high security chat (with both TMI and MIIO deployed to prevent snooping)

"I've got a lead on an old Terran Hegemony outpost in the Periphery" Samantha answers honestly. "The issue is that its well beyond Pehst. Epsilon Pegasus is too far to reach with the TC's resources. A brief mention of a dry dock in the planets moon was made. "

"I'm willing to help foot half the bill for making such a trip, in return is a copy of whatever data is found and a cut of materials. I'd prefer making copies of tooling and other assorted materials."

The general reaction is WTF?

And any modifications to their tactics?

Apart from letting the enemy have a total 3:1 numbers advantages the Guards forces get be bombastic dueling hams who fight in base 6 units (aka 6 mechs to lance, 6 lances to a battalion)

Samantha wants to throw an utter curveball at both men in the hopes of inspiring them to work together. Plus much easier to use the SLDF in exile returned than aliens.

Depends on how they fought.

How did they fight?

Fine. Though hey want some conditions. They'd rather their designs not simply be thrown across the Inner Sphere. Please be mindful of who you sell to.

Another part of the reason Samantha wanted the Sentinel. She offers the following restriction on sales of Zeus, Rommel and Patton; Apart from internal TDF usage she'll only sell the three to Lyran and Fedsuns sub states and mercenary units under long term contract to both.

Generally 50/50 mix of Good and simply acceptable.

Even better!

Dashing young ladies below

Via comstar any route is contactable.

She sends the message using the one time pad format

They share a look. "How much leeway do you give us on this operation?"

"There's a solid chance you can get someone into the Titan Yards, steal production data and get out unnoticed?" Samantha asks seriously. "I'm willing to give you decades of lead time and funding to pull it off."

"The Celestial Throne has been waiting for an envoy from you for some time..."

Arrogant ass probably expects you to pay him tribute or something.

Samantha has the Capellan Embassy officially notified of changes to the TC's duties and restrictions on military sales. Aka Tikonov, Chesteron and Sarna Commonalities get Tier 1 status, while Liao and St Ives are Tier 2. Capella Commonality is alas Tier 3 along with the Warrior Houses.

Done.

"Why with such distinguished and high ranking guests I as the host really should provide a few social affairs and other entertainments. If the two of you happen to have a few long fruitful discussion...."

They spend a good deal of time talking and they both look smugly satisfied by the exchange.

"The proverbial knife the in back," Samantha notes as she takes in Duncans advice. "But hammering the MAC hard will have to be a major priority."

"One best done before the official opening of hostilities is my thought. McCarron is a hothead. It shouldn't be too hard a prospect to goad him into attacking you. And as your nation often likes to point out, you never signed the Aries conventions."

To Technitron a complete Swap of tooling and licensing of say the Marauder (it uses the same Vlar 300 as the Quickdraw) for the Awesome.

Not quite worth their time. Willing to sweaten the deal with some cold hard currency?

To Irian a choice of the Archer, Thunderbolt, Warhammer or Marauder swapping the tooling and license for the Stalker

They also want a cash injection.

To Kali Yama same choice as Irian for the Orion

I can haz Marauder plez?

Samantha on the flipside splurges some of her remaining free C-Bills on buying up stock in Kong Interstellar

She ends up with majority ownership of the company and the eternal gratitude of the remaining shareholders.

Several children are named Samantha in the communing months. Many more send letters of thanks that basically tend to amount to "I will forever in your debt for saving me from destitution."

"Lord Hasek-Davion as the Protector of the Taurian Concordat I assure you and the First Prince that I bare no anger to the ordinary peoples of your realm and shall endeavor that any response I make in turn is focused directly on the individuals who have raised my ire."

"That is all I can ask."

He smiles. "The AFFS elements assigned to this region also would like to focus more on pirates and less on our neighbors. Perhaps we can cooperate in joint actions at some point?[/QUOTE]

Samantha willing to offer the following
* Current border for both the Concordat and FedSuns is accepted as the status quo for twenty five years (aka Sam is not asserting TC claims for old worlds while expecting the FS to not assert claim on current TC worlds)

He believes Hanse will agree. Though he would probably like a caveot or two that you can both agree on.

* Greatly reduced tariffs, travel restrictions etc between the FedSuns and TC as worked out early in the year by her staff without expectation

Agreed.

* Loosened restrictions for sale of military gear as per Tier system

Now he looks just fucking pleased.

* Samantha basically is after a period of peace to build up her new colonies

Admirable idea.

* Perhaps working something out to gut both the Pirates Haven and Tortuga

So done.

Flipside the following is off the table

* Formally aligning the TC with the FedCom

He'd like to be able to convince you to change you mind in time, and he'd very much be in favor of unofficially aligning ;)

* Rejection of any return to the core goals of the Pollux Proclamation aka one state ruling over all of humanity

Understandable considering how badly your homeland suffered last time it came into play.

* TCs policy of open sales won't exclude any state (but not all states will be equal)

Understood.

Do you mention the name of the system? Because that is the proper name on the Star Charts and you basically just gave it away...

And theoretically, you could reach it with the TC's resources. IT would just be a VERY long and annoying trip that would need a very local and dedicated crew.

But assuming you don't give it all away now, he'll have to talk to his uncle.

Ah.

About as well as can be expected. They put up a courageous effort but ultimately get creamed. They were caught on their flanks in the open. And when it was found that they were both being attacked they quickly took a policy of "We'll settle this later."

They just didn't have the time to mount a proper defense before they were overrun.

Another part of the reason Samantha wanted the Sentinel. She offers the following restriction on sales of Zeus, Rommel and Patton; Apart from internal TDF usage she'll only sell the three to Lyran and Fedsuns sub states and mercenary units under long term contract to both.

Perfectly acceptable. And she has given them some thought to relocating the designs. If they should come into production again, they will offer her a reasonable price on the license.

Considering your offer was pretty much "FREE HANDJOBS!" your recruiters were able to pick and choose liberally.

Dashing young ladies below

First is Major Harlene Davidson of "Harley's Custom Choppers", a Battalion unit noted for having all custom modified battlemechs. She's known to be intelligent, resourceful, and extremely vindictive when crossed. And while she doesn't openly advertise it, she's also a legally recognized (though illegitimately born) member of House Kurita.

It's a long story.

Second is Captain Rebecca Lee of the The Lagoon Company. She's a foul mouthed drunkard but an ace mechwarrior. It's a shame that her unit is basically considered barely legitimate and only one step removed from being full on pirates. The reason is their tendency to renegotiate their contracts tends into something read less like a standard mercenary hire and more like a Letter of Marquis and Reprisal.

On that note they'd very much like to negotiate some... adjustments to their contract to allow for... preemptive resource denial against designated potential aggressors. :p

Third is Colonel Mai Masako. The Masako Unit is a mixed Battalion (more a regiment when the vehicles are included. Two if you count the infantry) with a strong reputation for cold effectiveness and a cold ruthlessness that borders on a sociopathic lack of fundamental human empathy. Formed in 2799 by veterans of Kentares IV, they have been an unofficial part of the DCMS for generations, though have worked for the Capallan Confederation on several occasions. Mai has broken this tradition after a poorly thought attempt by a local daimyo to company store them.

Note: Said Daimyo in question was later ordered to water Takashi Kurita's rose bushes.

Mai is a beautiful woman trained in both mech and special forces infantry tactics. She's also known to be utterly without mercy or pity and will follow he orders to the letter of the contact without hesitation... as long as it is not foolishly dangerous to her unit's well being.

In the combine her unit is nicknamed "The Cleaners"...

Number 4 is Larry Vincent of the Gunsmith Cats Merc Company. A smaller unit, they are actually mostly female (With a couple notable exceptions) and are known for their rare equipment, outstanding technical skill, and tendency to focus on bounty hunting work.

Rally is also noted to be one of the best shots in the inner sphere outside and inside a mech.

She sends the message using the one time pad format

Done.

"There's a solid chance you can get someone into the Titan Yards, steal production data and get out unnoticed?" Samantha asks seriously. "I'm willing to give you decades of lead time and funding to pull it off."

He smirks. "We have connections among the Terran Belters."

Alright. You get some orders.

I love being the Big Damned Hero. Any other companies in straights like that which we could use to profit the Concordant?

Nothing your financial advisers can find at the moment. You may or may not have pissed Duke Garth of Irian off, most Mech manufacturers even ones reduced to parts don't get in that desperate a straight without it being a power-play of some sort.

Would it be better to move them to the concordant or repair the lines their?

Kongs staff suggest that with access to the Concordats industrial base that a new factory be set up inside the Concordat. At the same time work is going ahead on the new factory additional parts for the Harvester Ant lines be shipped back to Connought to get those lines up and running again.

Eventually they suggest building up the lines one by one as revenues allow.

Of course. I bought it myself. I want the Kong designs all produced in the Concordant. Including the Harvester Ant which I want multiple lines.

Where does the Protector plan on having Kong Interstellar break ground?

Nice. Maybe eventually friends and lovers, though I have to marry extremely wisely. I need to build up the family and secure a powerful marriage alliance.

If it gets there, I will not toy with her feelings but I will also be open minded and honest.

A mutual friendship is struck up over the year, Sarah is also a wee bit intimidated socially by all the high ranking ladies circling you but not enough for her to even consider withdrawing her friendship.

Would they be useful for the OWA? I could always build a plant there.

Kara is sure the Alliance Military would be than happy to get their hands on them. A few weeks later a letter from the more business minded Allevars winds up crossing your desk proposing a partnership to build a factory for them in the OWA. They'll provide land and cover the labor for a 50% stake if you provide capital and the specs.

Seriously? It was just a supply closet...
Kara's a risk taker and aggressive enough to forget safety precautions.

Basically I'm a sniper but I need to pay attention in piloting school a bit more. I focused a bit too heavily on the shooting part of piloting a mech

Now you need to focus on the dodging part of Mech piloting! The Instructors at Ecolie Militarie are more than happy to run you through hours of drills of being zapped at with training rounds.

"And Auntie always said flea markets and thrift stores were a waste of time..."

I agree. I want a secret mission with a good security contingent and a couple really big cargo droppers ready to strip the place of anything of value.

New Dallas will take 3d6 months as it leaves fairly promptly.

But IMHO well worth it. I want another dropship with a cargo compliment readied.

While it takes longer to find just the right Jumpship and crew a mission to Columbus is sent off

"Good idea. We can get the core, or at least a copy of the data and the core computer's encryption keys out without being detected."

As for Illyria we could probably do the same, or set up a false mining operation.

A trusted agent is dispatched under his already established identity as a wastrel of a trust fund kid who spends all his time partying across the worlds.

Illyria gets a crew of LosTech hunters assigned to it, they won't stick out on the planet at all.

Hat in the Ring and Stewart Bell are thoroughly chuffed at being your Team Banzai.

"Of course, my lady."

I look over to her bodyguard. "You are a lucky man. Treat her well or I will have you shot."

I wink.

You politely don't mention his whispered comment of 'better shot than Louise bringing out her whip again'

And we arrange a reasonably generous trade offer. Though I might want to buy some designs from them in the future.

Duchess Humphries sends a message that sincerely thanks you for trade offers, she also in the politest terms possible makes it clear that if you want Louise you need only ask.
Mechs taken as combat salvage as well.

Mechs are viewed as rather difficult to slip onto the planet. Besides the warriors of Hurik prefer combat Vees which are much easier to sneak in and maintain locally.

You know what I mean

XD It mainly has to do with her elder brother saving her life at the last moment from an unknown <cough DC cough> assassin over some long running multiple generational feud. She's kind of fixated on him since then.

You do however discover Samantha City has a good selection of Vintage shops, with old but upmarket goods at reasonable prices on outings with Sarah.

"So what, if I don't listen is it Death by Snoo-Snoo?"

"Lectures on professionalism," Ayala points out. "You've stepped up to do a job, and with it a duty to carry it out with as much dignity and professionalism as possible. How you dress is simply part of this."

You have a wonderful weekend getting further acquainted with Lady Kelly and even out of her full party gear she's still a stunning woman.

"I don't know. I think you have a very nice ass."

Mayumi goes beet red at this, but she also doesn't move away from you.

"Dos tequilas por favor!"

"Or we could stuff gin do your throat Kara," Mayumi says sweetly. "That one club certainly got an unexpected show"

"You forgot the part about the 'Is a head of state and a sexual tyrannosaurs."

"What big and imposing?" Kara inquires with a shit eating grin. "Still a catch even with the male tendency to swagger."

"I'm a bit too swarthy and raw to a Prince Charming."

"Oh some gals like that in a man," Mayumi starts with a certain amount of instance. "The pretty boy look isn't for everyone."

With that you have a few minutes of further light hearted chat with the pair learning more about Perdition and Samantha (planet) in the process.

Back inside you find Lisa Steiner, a statuesque young blond looking stunning in a shimmering blue and white gown. "Ah Protector Samuel, a pleasure to meet you."

Shit.

So, what is the general opinion outside the concordant of my massive industrial buildup.

The CapCon isn't happy at all. Mostly due to you seemingly failing into the Fed Com
Comstar is ominously quiet
The FedSuns (at least the Draconis and Crucius March) are fairly happy and are looking forward to buying plenty of goods from you.
Janos Marik is personally taking a look and see stance, while some member states are practically skipping
Lyrans being so far distant have taken a "Ah so cute, trying to imitate us" approach.
Takashi, well apart from cursing that he doesn't have a daughter at least recognizes who the latest Protector actually is.

Pipers always happy to found a new plant.

You end up with plans for the Urbie by February 3026

[dice]1916[/dice]

Shit. Bad. Real bad. But not OMFG ultra hori-bad. Can I scrap the script and try again in a couple months? o_O

"Wings over Perdition!" quickly turns into the Cult Classic movie of 3025. A horrible plot, stilted acting and some actually wicked flight sequences make the movie so bad its good.

On the flipside an awful movie doesn't mean it won't have its intended effects. Roll 2d6 for ASF Recruitment

[dice]1917[/dice]

I take it this was the "pregnancy surprise" roll

Oooh you got lucky in both versions of the word, you didn't roll a double with Kara. She has a minor scare of a period that's a few days late. Flipside is that she decides to get a permanent birth control device to ward off future scares until she's ready to settle down.

[dice]1918[/dice]

Meh. Could be a lot worse

TMI fails to get anybody inside the her Palace. Flipside is that TMI didn't get caught. They're taking it as a lessons learned opportunity.

Yeah. The Farlookers are DROLLING.
They're perfectly welcome to check the cluster for other habitable worlds.

Excellent

You do. It'll take a little time for the lines to get to full functionality but by years end they're ramping up.
Excellent. Once the recent losses are replaced we might even be able to look at judiciously expanding the TDF. Allowing for sales too of course.

Another poker face roll.
[dice]1923[/dice]

The Taurian Concordant probably has a bigger nuclear arsenal than most of the successor states. Combined.
Still, it'd (at best) be very hard on the border worlds.

Wanna do the rolls for it?
[dice]1922[/dice]

Nothing your financial advisers can find at the moment. You may or may not have pissed Duke Garth of Irian off, most Mech manufacturers even ones reduced to parts don't get in that desperate a straight without it being a power-play of some sort.

Seriously? The guy should understand that's simply how the game is played.

Or alternatively, I simply restart them all at once and they pay my generous extremely low interest loan back... as revenues allow.

How much would it cost?

Where does the Protector plan on having Kong Interstellar break ground?

I speak to my various lords and check out strategic location.

Basically I'm looking for reasonably secure worlds and there will be bidding.

A mutual friendship is struck up over the year, Sarah is also a wee bit intimidated socially by all the high ranking ladies circling you but not enough for her to even consider withdrawing her friendship.

Good. I don't want my friends intimidated.

49% stake and you have a deal.

Kara's a risk taker and aggressive enough to forget safety precautions.

Fair enough.

Now you need to focus on the dodging part of Mech piloting! The Instructors at Ecolie Militarie are more than happy to run you through hours of drills of being zapped at with training rounds.

"Ouch. Ouch. Ouch. OUCH! GODDAMN IT!"

Heh. I pay attention.

New Dallas will take 3d6 months as it leaves fairly promptly.

Can roll.

While it takes longer to find just the right Jumpship and crew a mission to Columbus is sent off

Right.

A trusted agent is dispatched under his already established identity as a wastrel of a trust fund kid who spends all his time partying across the worlds.

Heh. Good.

Illyria gets a crew of LosTech hunters assigned to it, they won't stick out on the planet at all.

Nice.

Hat in the Ring and Stewart Bell are thoroughly chuffed at being your Team Banzai.

^_^

You politely don't mention his whispered comment of 'better shot than Louise bringing out her whip again'

I whisper back. "Attractive and kinky. You've got a live one here. Enjoy it."

Duchess Humphries sends a message that sincerely thanks you for trade offers, she also in the politest terms possible makes it clear that if you want Louise you need only ask.

Well, I don't comment on the offers but I do show it to Louis for some discussion. Mainly so she knows to act on her feelings in case her mother makes any more offers. I'm a pervert but a noble one.

Mechs are viewed as rather difficult to slip onto the planet. Besides the warriors of Hurik prefer combat Vees which are much easier to sneak in and maintain locally.

Ah. Alright.

XD It mainly has to do with her elder brother saving her life at the last moment from an unknown <cough DC cough> assassin over some long running multiple generational feud. She's kind of fixated on him since then.

Okay. I understand completely. Hell, I'm thinking of hiring the Bounty Hunter for a couple motherfuckers.

You do however discover Samantha City has a good selection of Vintage shops, with old but upmarket goods at reasonable prices on outings with Sarah.

But it's NOT THE SAME!

"Lectures on professionalism," Ayala points out. "You've stepped up to do a job, and with it a duty to carry it out with as much dignity and professionalism as possible. How you dress is simply part of this."

"Ruin all my dreams why don't you?"

You have a wonderful weekend getting further acquainted with Lady Kelly and even out of her full party gear she's still a stunning woman.

Wonderful. I'd like to slowly get her thinking the Concordant is a better place and I'd be a better lord than Max.

Mayumi goes beet red at this, but she also doesn't move away from you.

I smirk. And look very place.

"Or we could stuff gin do your throat Kara," Mayumi says sweetly. "That one club certainly got an unexpected show"

"I'll take two of those too, and place tell me you have footage."

"What big and imposing?" Kara inquires with a shit eating grin. "Still a catch even with the male tendency to swagger."

I grin back. "You'll just have to find out won't you?"

"Oh some gals like that in a man," Mayumi starts with a certain amount of instance. "The pretty boy look isn't for everyone."

"I could probably pull it off, but the day I wax my chest and do my nails is the day I hang myself from one of my PPCs."

With that you have a few minutes of further light hearted chat with the pair learning more about Perdition and Samantha (planet) in the process.

Nice. I might have to visit her plant. I'm very interested in industrial development.

I'm guessing the sheer scope of my operations end up boggling her mind. If I'm going to put on my industrialist hat, I'm going full on over the top.

Back inside you find Lisa Steiner, a statuesque young blond looking stunning in a shimmering blue and white gown. "Ah Protector Samuel, a pleasure to meet you."

"M'lady," I smile and move next to her. "Care for a dance?"

The CapCon isn't happy at all. Mostly due to you seemingly failing into the Fed Com

Well, Victoria is probably at least going to see a boost in trade. And keep in mind, I'm not trading with the Capallan March so that should mitigate it somewhat.

But I do make it clear any capallan attacks against high value targets are to be destroyed using any and all means necessary.

Comstar is ominously quiet

Double internal security. And regular offsite backups.

The FedSuns (at least the Draconis and Crucius March) are fairly happy and are looking forward to buying plenty of goods from you.

Okay. Good.

Janos Marik is personally taking a look and see stance, while some member states are practically skipping

Well, those member states can enjoy the mechs while I shut up and take their money.

Lyrans being so far distant have taken a "Ah so cute, trying to imitate us" approach.

*pefh* Yes, because they're the only ones who can be a large net exporter...

Takashi, well apart from cursing that he doesn't have a daughter at least recognizes who the latest Protector actually is.

He's a douche. And how does he take the fact that the main reason I'm dicking with him on the Charger front and giving steep discounts to one of his enemies is the fact one of his warlords ordered the murder of my parents creating a blood feud. He should understand... last time a Kurita's father was murdered in cold blood, they murdered 52 million people... Honor demands.

Pipers always happy to found a new plant.

Good.

You end up with plans for the Urbie by February 3026

I want a plant build reasonably close to Mr. Bell's and the Hat in the Ring's landhold

My thoughts are if they don't go out well, make another movie.

Oooh you got lucky in both versions of the word, you didn't roll a double with Kara. She has a minor scare of a period that's a few days late. Flipside is that she decides to get a permanent birth control device to ward off future scares until she's ready to settle down.

Well, I'm happy we don't have complications. So, she still interested in the occasional rumble?

TMI fails to get anybody inside the her Palace. Flipside is that TMI didn't get caught. They're taking it as a lessons learned opportunity.

Crap.

I contact Hanse via one time pad with a question for any information MIIO has on the badlands pirates and the Tortuga Dominions, BTW, and how do my attempts to crush tortuga go over?

I'd also like to expand the TDF. I want the Corps regiments increased in size, I want them reenforced into combined arms units along the lines of a Regimental Combat Team. And I want to found 3 new corps.

This will take time but I believe it will be doable over the next decade.

Kaede Kanzaki-Calderon (23), 3011

They're perfectly welcome to check the cluster for other habitable worlds.

It'll take a while. It's A BIG DAMNED cluster.

Now what you want DONE with it?

Excellent. Once the recent losses are replaced we might even be able to look at judiciously expanding the TDF. Allowing for sales too of course.

They're all for it. And it'll take 3 months to finish covering losses at the cost of delaying current exports.

I'm sorry but you'll never make it as a professional gambler.

Hanse looks at Ian who nods and says, "If you were to, say, have information on such a find we'd have much to discuss... and much to offer one another."

Still, it'd (at best) be very hard on the border worlds.

Depends on engagement location.

I need 2 more rolls but they bite. 3 full Regiments are burning for the planet like a bat out of hell.

For Fitz:

[dice]1928[/dice]

The above should be new Dallas. woops
