Honestly, my issue is more about when his request came in than anything else. I'm sure we can do both, i just dont want us getting sidetracked right when we're about to get started on something.

I suspect John is using the "I didn't like it" definition of bad, as opposed to objective things like bad writing or terrible animation. There was a bit of both of those things, but not enough of it to ruin the whole thing if you ask me.

They butcher the fights, the character development for Akeno and the last three episodes are so bad I don't know what to do (Rias wearing Scale Mail, Dimensional Gap is 'Wish hard enough and get it' place and the whole amnesia).
The only things good from it are the OP/ED, Kuroka, Arthur and Ophis. Or the Ex DxD novel came with the blu ray.

For once, in the light novel Akeno overcame her hate for Baraqiel not because Issei said something but because her father took an attack for her, the anime cut that out. Not to mention shitty designed Fenrir, banana Gungnir, Great Red looks like a floating statue and lots of QUALITY. They also take out Sona vs Rias Rating Game just to replace it by a cliche'd anti-climatic fight and the forgotten kissing scene.
Fuck the anime crew and fuck Ishibumi for approving them.

I can kinda understand where he's coming from, Character Rape is Character Rape after all, it would be like having Issei fall for Raiser or something just because they felt it would appeal to the BL crowd and who cares about the original fans

No they didn't, they just rearranged the order of events. Baraqiel took the attack first which caused Akeno to become conflicted, she just didn't change her mind for real until some time had passed. All Issei did was give her a nudge in the right direction with some help from Bilingual.

With less emotional impact and the battle with Loki is so shit compares to the light novel, hell Baraqiel took no damage when he blocked Loki attack in the anime.
