Blacksmith quest

[X]Let her go. What's the worst could happen?

I don't suppose we've got any way of communicating with her via her core in the event that we do need to challenge an army tomorrow?

Also, I've been rereading the end of this post for half an hour and I still have no idea where we're letting her go to.

So, that sounded like Milly, Shirley, and Nina in the lobby. Are we already to the point where the JLF pulls a Terrorist on the hotel?

Canonically, that didn't occur until after Cornelia slaughtered another ghetto to draw out Zero, and if we missed that we must have been living in a cave undergro-

Oh, right.

But anyway, Liam-don can run the time-line however Liam-don wants.
Cornelia? The Britannian princess? Why would she even be in area 11? Clovis is in charge there.

Zel isn't a girl, she's a sentient artefact that fused with Archer and materialize an avatar to interact with the world. No matter where that Avatar is, Zelretch itself is always with Archer.

[X]No. She's going to be coming with us to the Sakuradite summit, isn't she?

Isn't Archer stinking rich now after inheriting a massive corporate empire from a reality warper/hopper?

his petty cash.

Archer doesn't actually have access to all his assets until he meets with the lawyer and she does her lawyer things. Until that point he's in a bit of a gray area in which using his credit card might be marked as theft. That could get cleared up eventually, but it's easier to just restrain our spending to the cash we have on hand until Zelretch's stuff is officially transferred to Archer.

The next day Zel boards a shuttle bus for Hakone, and he feels the strain on his mana reserves as the projection gets farther away. Archer asks the front desk to get him when the S&A lawyer arrives before joining the crowd of foreign dignitaries for the Sakuradite Summit.

It is a fairly informative conference. The opening speech from Chairman James, a middle aged Britannian, drives home just how pervasive Sakuradite has become in modern society. The ore is a major component in every electrical system and caused battery's performance and efficiency to skyrocket to the point where renewable energies eclipsed fossil fuels and allowed the development of Knightmare Frames. Being It is no wonder it's considered a strategic resource.

Secondly, the long presentations of the global use of Sakuradite make for a good lesson in geography. Ougi was thourough, but going over this new world certainly doesn't hurt.

The negotiations over the ore's global allocation polite but one-sided. With the conquest of Japan, The vast majority of the ore's production is in Brittania's hands, leaving the EU with just enough cover its needs and that of his close allies, the Middle Eastern Federation. Every other country must negotiate with the Empire, receiving bread crumbs in exchange for outrageous trade agreements or the right for the Britannian army to move within their territory.

"This is blatant extortion," a pink haired girl mutters in indignation before she's shushed by her neighbour.

Indeed, it's like a medieval Lord levying taxes after a bad harvest and magnanimously taking the farmer's daughter rather than make the entire family starve. Economic terrorism at the highest level.

"Is this seat taken?" Someone says, sitting down before he can answer.

Archer's thought process crashes and burns.

His drinks up the lush figure that appeared at his side. The long legs, flat stomach and the vast expanse of cleavage offered to his sight. For some reason, his eyes can't move away from the last.

Suddenly, he is very hungry once again.

A friendly chuckle breaks the spell and he finally manage to drags his eyes up. He doesn't regret it for a single instant, the woman's face is as lovely as her body. She arches an eyebrows knowingly "Mister Archer, I presume?"

It clicks. "You're from Sagittarius?"

"Indeed. Urd Weinberg, Attorney at law."

"A pleasure." They shake hand and he marvels at how soft her skin is. He fights off the sudden urge to kiss it, but only just.

She leans into him. "My boss told me there was a very special client in dire need of our best prestation. "So I flew halfway across the world to meet him. Shall we adjourn to somewhere more... private?" She purrs hotly, like a promise to grant the transfixed man's every wishes.

Archer suppresses a shiver.

[]Oh yeah, private sounds good. The room's upstairs should do nicely. Superb view. Great minibar. Large bed. So many possibilities.
[]Whoah there, this is supposed to be a professionnal meeting. Come on Archer, get your head straight! Still, upstairs is the best place for this talk, up we go.
[] Um, well. How about staying right here and listen to the summit for now? It's actually pretty interesting and all the witnesses might keep him from doing something he might regret. Might.
[]Write-in.

Hmm. I forget how that episode played out. I do recall the hostages were mostly on the lower floors, or started there and were moved upstairs, so I'm gonna go with

Need a rational Archer at this point. Hopefully there will be time for fun at a later date.

I'm curious. Are you using an expy for ease of character design, or did Zelretch decide that he wanted his lawyer to be Urd?

I was in the middle of thinking up a lawyer that Zelretch could have conceivably hired in his living when I remembered Sagitta Weinberg, the highly sucessful female(!) black(!!) laywer in the New York of the 20s.

For reference, she looks like this.

Someone roll 1D6, please?

[blockquote]Rolled 1d6 : 5, total 5[/blockquote]

Archer clasps the forward woman's shoulders and pushes her away firmly. " I have a room upstairs," he says sternly.

Urd pouts at the putdown but it is soon followed by a smile. The expression has lost its previous laciviousness to become smooth and utterly professionnal. "Lead on."

At the exit of the conference hall, a hotel agent hand to Urd an attache-case and a business jacket that impeccably covers the most scandalous part of her outfit. Just like that, the woman turns from a luxury escort to something that may approach an attorney. That her every movement don't oozes sex any longer certainly reinforces the new image.

Urd only take a cursory glance at the extravagant suite before getting down to business. "Before anything else, there's two items you must show me."

Wordlessly, Archer goes to the bedroom, shutting the door behind him. With a bright violet light the Grimoire materializes in his hand. He sets it down in front of Urd before pulling the small but priceless piece of paper from his jacket and putting it beside the book.

Urd leans forward and inspects the share carrefully for several long minutes.

Finally, she looks up. "This is the genuine article," she says in an awed breath.

Archer nods. "That it is. Satisfied?"

Urd's smile is slightly manic around the edge, but she carries on admirably. "Enough to take you officially as a client, at least." Her eyes narrows. "As of now, I am bound by law to keep anything I learn about you strictly to myself. As such, I strongly encourage you to be completely honest with me."

Honesty?

Archer knows the woman has heard some pretty pretty crazy stories in her line of work but he suspects her past experience will be of no help in his case. What's more, telling the truth means revealing magecraft, possibly putting her life in jeopardy. Archer ignores if the mage's Association exists in this world, but his meeting with C.C. had made clear the supernatural exists beyond Zelretch.

But if he intended to inherit Zelretch's empire, Archer needed the woman's help.

So what to do?

Urd crosses her arms under her chest. "So let's have it. What's your story?"

[]Full disclosure. "First, would you like some tea? You will need it, I promise."

[]The half truth. "Well, I met this lonely girl, and she led me to the jackpot in exchange for the promise of taking care of her. I'm japanese too, so effectively stateless."

[] Complete bullshit story "I am a member of Zelretch's line. My forefathers chose to live in reclusion, shunning society, but I decided otherwise. The only issue is that there's no record of my existence anywhere."

[]If my lazy players can come up with a better cover story, have at it.
