I mean, Smiles is probably already going to do that if we befriend him, considering he is playing the same game as Biedde and his refresher works by lending some help for "favors".
That just screams "rebuilding the Lionsmith faction in the Wake", like with Biedde's religious goals.

1. That is what the +30 general bonus is for, that is better than Velvet, in fact the only one that is better is Baldomare(if we are talking finding things).
2. Smiles most certainly knows how Biedde thinks, he will go after his assets, that is just what a good Foe does. Besides I doubt he changed the strategy that much, it is probably close to the same thing they did eras ago, so he has experience.
3. Is that really how it works? His sheet said we can reset his summoning by offering him actions and honestly I don't see why that would be limited to the END of his summoning. He is not Mareinette, he isn't being bribed to stay docile.
His friendship condition is just like Baldomare's(specific thing that increases, but instead of quality it is quantity) and like the other Names(DoA and Cherenkolt) we have under our roof we can pay him anytime if we have the proper coin. So the decaying risen is going with him next turn.

30 vs 20 (SH) + 12 (Intrigue) means Velvet is in fact better at finding things, but I was more thinking of Smiles vs Tapestry Ritual in terms of finding things. Since that's our go-to search tool for this plane of existence.

Well, in that case Selene just got good at scrying due to the Lantern 4 artifact so if we think it is necessary we put Smiles to Guard and she can scry info for him.

Onto other matters, I've been pondering which four Names are Change Names and which four are Order Names. Smiles is Change and Biedde is Order, obviously, but the rest have not been so helpfully labeled by the QM. My guesses are as follows:
DoA: Order. Frequently complains about every change that has happened to the Wake, seemed to really want to turn back the clock, rather traditionalist in her views of solving issues via axe and venom.
Mareinette: Change. She has eaten zero babies and has kept herself mostly to donated limbs for her thirsts here, a major departure from her old ways, and seems pretty delighted with the way the Wake is going. Also continues the pattern of opposition, as DoA detests Mareinette for very good reasons.
The Master: In a massive bit of irony, I think the Master was an Order Name. Reintroducing the Lores was basically the biggest attempt to restore the old order one could possibly make in the world.
The Baldomare: Change. She seems content with the way the Wake was sending, and heartily recommends not diving deeper into the Lores if you can help it.
Cherenkolt: Change. It was his Mother's wish, and it is his Mother's wish, and it will be his next Mother's wish too, in all likelihood.
Which leaves Neighnia as Order by process of elimination; fitting for a creature of Winter.

Kind of sad we won't get to see the scenes with Biedde and Smiles competing over Silky, but at least we're getting another Sacrament. Too bad about Biedde, I kind of liked him, but realistically it was probably going to be too much trying to balance the two and not fall too far behind at this point. Maybe if we had gotten this choice earlier.
The main saving grace from it all is that despite being his enemy, we'll probably always come second in his focus to Smiles.

Well. I'm satisfied with the result.
A bit sad about biedde and about wasting the free minion, but it's fine.
Hopefully Smiles' friendship is something we can get cheaply and quickly.
And also hopefully the sacrament is immediately useful

I'll be real, I'd rather have Mareinette up Spoiled to Confidante and Velvet social Mayor Mare in such a case, simply to avoid the fact that Leash into Moth Sacrament is an "especially cruel" combination per Word of QM. And it really would just be Mareinette making a friend at that point and revealing it was never Velvet Spoiled was so close to.

I still think it's probably just a political scandal, though death IS possible.
So next turn we should get Mareinette Friendship, Grail Sacrament (but without the power because we're not Grail 5), Moth Sacrament, and probably one SH SAcrament.
we'll also do the expeditions for Baldomare Friendship and Cherenkolt Friendships.
AND who knows, we might be able to start working on Smiles friendships maybe.
...you know what I'm a bit sad about, now that I think about it? We never just... gave Baldomare 100 bits or so to go have fun with. We have NO IDEAS how good she is at finding interesting stuff that way.

I could not consider a way of seeing that taking someone who is real, who is alive, who has been tortured and consumed in part by Changelings, and to bring them into the fold for the exclusive purpose of consuming, burning, killing, or sacrificing them... would be good.

Spoiled, the collective consensus on has been, is unpleasant. Enough so to deserve something foul.
And the thief? Oh goodness are they contentious! But with the "Seek out someone bad to inflict something worse upon" expressed, that is what is "Mollifying" folks.
I have no doubt I'm sure there may have been an option to make the free minion a vile and wretched person to consume. But...

Because said "free minion" didn't actually enable anything (edit: while also locking up our Leash indefinitely). We wouldn't even be able to use him for anything until T24. Meanwhile, we already have a target for the Moth Sacrament ready to go, Mareinette's timer runs down at the end of this turn, and the only other Sacrament we have that could benefit from a sacrifice is personal Lantern, which we have a bloodless (and easier) alternative for anyway.

the main reason I think is that taking the minion means the Leash is not available for most of this turn, which means we might not be able to take the Moth Sacrament immediately and might have to wait one more turn.
Though I think it was mentioned that, DEPENDING ON MINION BUILD, it would be acceptable to remove the leash mid-turn.
Also this. Though to be fair the plan wasn't really to SACRIFICE the minion (except MAYBE for Moth Sacrament), but more to just... have him as a minion.
Sure, Lantern Sacrament is an option, but I don't think one we were seriously considering as of right now.
As for Spoiled... well, she doesn't REALLY deserve what we're going to do, but we're kinda pressed for time, and she's the least worst option for Moth Sacrament. AT LEAST we're not also doing Grail on her....

Anyways, if Selene is going to drop a plan on us for how to deal with Celestia, then I would prioritize that over any Moth Sacrament. Mareinette could keep befriending Spoiled in the background as we seek a more lasting solution to our Celestial Doom Clock, and we get to not be needlessly cruel to peoples' psyches.

I'm still not quite sure HOW the "locked at acquaintance" works narratively, really. Acquaintance implies they don't necessarily HATE us for it...

Moth Sacrament, Grail Sacrament/Mareinette Friendship, Cherenkolt and Baldomare Expeditions for their friendships, SH Sacrament.
I want to do those. Ideally the 3 Manehattan expeditions too, and start working on Smiles friendship if we know how.
Selene is definitely important, but we have no idea if it's a "you can do it now" or a "multiple turns of preparations" kind of thing.

I don't really see why we'd have to choose between "Moth Sacrament" and "start working on defusing Celestia". Especially since unless it would be a 1-turn endeavor, which I doubt, we'd still need to get our Moth Sacrament anyway to prevent premature cremation. Delaying things that keep us from dying when we have time for it just means that other things end up falling out the back when we inevitably panic and have to try and cram it in. See: the rush to find DoA because we didn't bother exploring the Mansus unless the Master told us to. Or the rush to get the Knock Sacrament (and that wasn't even for life-saving reasons).

Think about what the Moth sacrament means for Velvet. The target would know the secret that Velvet hates herself. And in casting the away the old self hatred MOTH Velvet is reborn anew. Just like Velvet won't interact with Twilight, Velvet won't interact with the Moth target.
