Esquestria: The House of the Sun - A pony cultist experience

Actually if Mareinette genuinely does end up doing marriage counseling on the Riches on our behalf and we Moth Spoiled, what would that even look like in the end?

On one hand, the person who you thought your friend was was actually a monster skeleton horse that no one else seems to be able to notice. On the other hand, this is the most healthy your marriage has been in years thanks to said Velvet-impersonating skeleton horse. How are you supposed to feel about this situation?

Like an acquaintance, if the Sacrament is to be believed.

That's why they get locked to acquaintance instead of vanishing into the hills or summat?

And of course, none of that addresses the issue of "they are still entirely dedicated to escaping at all times" thing.

@OurLadyOfWires Can't our Names do stuff to make it harder for the to escape? Like Marinette drinking to weaken them (take their blood and any heart or grail lore) or Biedde maiming them? Not like we need a sacrifice with limbs. You know like how Comet maimed Twilight by taking her horn.

You haven't really thought about Starry at all since the Woods burned :V

And now I'm sad.

I don't think there was another route to be fair. Not with the people we know, with the contacts and acquaintances we have.

There is a route, an easy route at that, "Mareinette, please find me an alcoholic abuser or some other sort of scum that we can gaslight". She's the Grail Name, finding new contacts is directly up her alley along with every other kind of social action. Bird has admittedly said that she won't find us us a perfectly ideal victim, but the context of our request would be factored in.

That would take more turns than just using the leash next turn on Filthy Rich and use him for the moth sacrament.
I thought the goal was to moth his wife? Filthy Rich may be able to provide money if we get him as a confidant. Though I hadn't really considered that this would put Diamond Tiara in Mareinette's crosshairs before.

How would people feel if I edited the Rarity Digging plan to find a new contact for the moth sacrament?

Would it? You need a confidant for the Sacrament and Filthy is only a friend (which is not hard to do by the way, we met him like one time and Silky did most of the work) so Mareinette would have to try and force the Good Friend status or go on a quest. Admittedly this is well within her abilities, but hopping from acquaintance to friend is something she could practically do by accident with her bonuses anyway, so there really wouldn't be any appreciable difference.

We'd probably hear something along the lines of "Mareinette has made a new friend! A good friend even, at least by her dubious standards, though personally you would disagree."

How would people feel if I edited the Rarity Digging plan to find a new contact for the moth sacrament?

Eh, I'm honestly pretty cold on the whole prison bit, though I appreciate the flexibility!

I'd prefer to read the Knock 5 book and give that one to Baldomare.

I suppose that Biedde could teach us something about Moth?

Seems like a little too late, and it isn't the winning plan.
Ideally we give her a Level 6 Book. I want Name friends dang it.

Also like Hell are we locking the guy named Filthy Rich into Acquaintance status people, Velvet needs her Bits.

Just ten minutes ago I questioned somepony that, apparently, saw something from one of the windows.
Knowing Mareinette, she might have gone back to sulking just outside the windows, so she might actually have seen Velvet from one of the windows.
It is night. The sun is nowhere to be seen, and the moon is currently being blocked by angry clouds charged with lightning. And within the empty corridor of a mansion's second floor, something very unusual is happening.

And that unusual thing is that there is a Princess there… there is a Princess there, and she is waiting.
Which mean Name hotel Velvet currently has more princesses than the rest of Equestria combined (including Canterlot Castle).

She still remembers how… how Soft told her that… how her words made her remember all those...

And the more friends one has, the merrier.

Right?

Right?
Oh fuck.
The taint is spreading.

well, more like since we found the corpse in the Ashen Wastes

Second of all, the Library... basically functions the same way YOU function.
well, with the difference that enough lvl 1 books could bring the library (in theory, if there's no other hidden rule) to lvl 7, while they become useless to Velvet once she reaches lvl 2.

Remember that old omake about Velvet slowly grinding the cult to X+1 levels on each lore to try and find a solution to the Worms that way, but still being unable to go beyond lvl 4 herself, as she limited herself to shop books?!

You need higher level lore scraps for higher levels of lore.

-You needed ONE scrap of Lore from a level 1 source to reach level on 1.
-You needed TWO scraps of Lore from a level 2 source to reach level 2.
-You need X scraps of Lore from a level X source to reach level X.

and if he were to suffer a lapse of sanity or life then who would?
Our borther, who can be lead around by the nose?
Our uncle, who is nothing but suportive?
or perhaps he goes through a change of Heart

Only issue is how would we bring him up to Confidante? Mareinette does have to play the role of Velvet perfectly after all, she can't work with nothing.

I'd imagine that he would be willing to put in the initial effort, now that there is something for him to gain.
Marinette has her own views on Velvet. She does not have to play it perfectly, she is just very good.
And then he could be leashed, as soon as we find where we misplaced it.

But on the thought of being efficient, can we double up on sacraments?
Like, the Moth mask leaves someone alive.

If that ends up being someone that we would feel no remorse for -if they're a bad pony- then could we Lantern-sac them?

Or Grail them I suppose, though I doubt that I'll get to see that dinner date take place.

Totally.

It's why I'm fond of the Marinette write-in. We're even really close on being able to Lantern-sac somepony.

-Pick a Prisoner, or a character you have a "Minion-level" relationship with, and perform an action dedicated to "The Conversation".
-The Daughter-of-Axes is considered to be a Minion, and does not mind being sacrificed for Rituals.
[UNIQUE]: The Daughter-of-Axes is a unique creature. She may refuse summons at will, and will refuse re-summons for three ONE full month should she be unsummoned for any reason (including if she is killed).
Hm. Hmmm.... would this hurt our relationship with Axe, is a question that can be asked.

On behalf of the narrative, all the no to that.

...On the other, is it just a body that gets sac-ed?
Like, the Names are only partly in the wake, so would it even affect her in any way?
I would be hesitant to claim that we could affect them mentally, and if she explicitly doesn't mind then...

Why not? How else is that to be interpreted?

Perhaps no Grail stuff, since she's not been so fond of that

If he's amazing for bits then great, we want him as a Confidant ASAP.

I'm not sure — it might be a trait more like any action he performs he'll cover the cost for, which is a lot less useful. In which case he might be worth sacrificing.

Either way good to get him as a confidant!

It has to be a pony (ditto for Grail sacraments), can't be a summon.

You say that but imagine he turned out to be Forge-dominant. Free reagents! Or he'd be a great expedition travel guide, maybe not the man with the plan but he'd be the man with the van.

I would point out that this would make him an amazing expedition leader, but Ro beat me to it.

What?

1) Reagents are Velvet's realization, not any pony's.
2) Sure, that'd be great! Just as easy to imagine he pays his way but not everyone's.

This is all speculation of course.

But something to remember is that bits are an intended limiter on our actions. We're not going to ever flat out solve them, which means it feels unlikely we'll get access to Filthy's full fortune.

Hopefully we get to find out soon, though!

Oh, by the way, whatever happened to this? I've been looking through both threads and I can't find another mention of it by Bird.
-[X] Your uncle, in a display of wealth and guile that far surpasses your own, has kindly gifted you an immeasurably old book. (Gain book: "The Sun, Divided".
LANTERN, level 6 Book. Codified, must be deciphered before being studied.)
