Another advantage ov Parry DV over Dodge is that you can protect others with it.
If we fail to parry we can just soak it.
You can't parry Lethal attacks without a weapon or without using a Charm that allow you to do it.

Guess what the spear's type of attack is?

Both roll, highest wins. Anyway, vote:
[X] Get Rias out of the way while shouting a warning. Making sure you keep yourself between Rias and the weapons, cast [Shield] and activate Durability of Oak Meditation.
-[X] If an opening is available, shoot a full-strength [Fireball] at both arms each.

What type of action is calling out our boosted gear? Can we do it and protect her at the same time?

[X] Tackle her out of the way. If your face ends up buried in her breasts, that's just how things go.

Better double-check that.

Of particular note, even the Exalted cannot parry attacks that inflict lethal or aggravated damage and/or ranged attacks if they are not armed, unless they augment their block with a stunt or magic enabling such defense.
With that in mind....

[X] Time seems to slow momentarily as the spear and attached arms rocket at your superior's back. Your body reacts on instinct, sliding around Rias' right side and lightly shoving her off to one side. With the weapon less than a foot from skewering you you bring your hands together with perfect timing and catch the spear by the shaft, just behind the spear head which is now less than an inch from your face.
- [X] Call out Boosted Gear and snap the spear in half!

[X] Around you, the world freezes. You can see the arms twitch, the spears gleam as they begin their descent to Rias' unprotected back. They are lethal, you know - they will skewer Rias without fail.

Not if you can help it.

You take all this in well before the arms have made any headway. You shout, alerting Rias of the danger, and intercept the attack. The spears are sharp, long and thin - not easy to handle when they're already moving.

But they don't have to be moving, do they?

You dash in between Rias and the arms. They're targeting Rias, and so it is child's play for someone of your level of skill to do this.

"Bind." You call out, dashing to the arms and touching them, activating the attack. The arms freeze, captured by your magic, and you use the opportunity to pounce, smashing the spears out of it's reach with your full power. No one will hurt your friends and allies while you're around, especially not such a beautiful girl like Rias!

In order:

-Spear are Lethal.
-Bind requires you to touch the spears.
-Are you sure you want to manifest Boosted Gear?

Yo, Smuthunter? There are multiple spears, not just one. Your vote won't work as it is.

Hm. So we can't use Bind from a distance? I'll change my vote then.

Could we just get between them and use our shield spell instead. Because the current write in is sounding harder and harder for us to pull off.

Also a good point. Let's not rely on our spells when we have Occult 0 and Resistance 5 plus damage-soaking charms. Vote changed again to tank the spears.

Overwhelming. That's minimum damage dealt, something considered more important after 2.5 dropped ping damage down to a flat 1 die, instead of (Essence) dice.

So if Issei hit someone with his fist, and soak removed all his damage dice, he would still get to roll 1 die. With whatever weapon that is, he'd get to roll 2 dice instead.

Unless your using the un-errata'd rules, in which case he'd be rolling a minimum of 3 dice. Under that scenario, the Overwhelming tag is only useful if it grants more dice then the wielder's Essence.

Why don't we just use our perfect defense to tank the attack?

[X]You react in the moment between between heartbeats internal essence to propel across the ground interposing your self between Rias and swift death. You become as diamond and the retched arms of that best shirk away as the leper does beofre a god.

....What Perfect Defence?

Adamant Skin Technique, we acquired it a post or two ago. What Larekko is missing is that there's two spears and AST only works against one attack per use, so we'd have to use it twice to get both of them -- and that's incredibly expensive, mote-wise.

Well, it's not listed on the character sheet.

Edit: Upon checking, Alex asked for what Imperfection we wanted, but hasn't said we actually have it yet. I'm assuming we're still training it?

Is this a stunt? Don't quite get the concept yet.

Yes, you're still training for it. Don't worry, there is only one post before we begin the juicy bits.
