Interest Check & Idea Thread

Finally decided to participate on this site. Been registered for a few months but haven't really put anything here so forgive me if I'm throwing up an idea that's been presented before.

Saxon quest.

Borrowing a bit from the old stories from 5th-7th century Britain, we start our journey by following a young Saxon as he and the members of his band are hopping off the boat in Britannia, others of his people have already arrived but they're few and they're fighting hard against the Britons to carve out a place for themselves.

There are a few holding centered around strong men but they're already running out of room and the settlers are still coming from the homeland forcing people to move out and push out the locals.

So now the young Saxon has to carve out a life for himself and his family that is depending on him to give them a home so they can come over, and maybe more as the years come by...maybe he could become a Thane or even a Warlord himself one day and if not him then maybe the Sons he will have some day.

Note I DON'T have an Exhaustive knowledge of the terrain of the UK nor an exhaustive knowledge of Romano-British OR Anglo-Saxon culture, so this would to be a kinda Sorta- Britain.

Plenty of similarities but simplified so my brain wouldn't explode.

I'm thinking about whether it should be set AFTER the 'king Arthur' has passed on or before his rise to power and now you have to somehow survive calvary charges from a pack of THESE bastards.

cav1.jpg

Including one with a scabbard that doesn't let him get hurt and a sword that you swear by Wotan just took that thane THROUGH HIS SHIELD AND CUT HIS SHIELD BOSS IN HALF!

And the less said of that absurdly handsome fellow from Brittany the better.

All while you're starting out with just a spear, shield, and a Seax blade.

Yeah, I think this site fit your babarian theme more than SB.You can go all out with babarian culture without worried too much about censor policy.

I still wait for your game of throne SI to contunue thought. ;)

Glad to see someone's interested in this....

So....let me think...

Well we need maps of some sort and maybe an idea of where you land might help.

For the purposes of this story we'll have three different places to land. Cerdic, who landed a few years ago and is gathering the local Saxon bands into a proper kingdoms.

Aelle, A proper king and the most powerful Saxon warlord in Britain.

Oisic son of Hengist, the first Saxon war-leader to land in Britannia with his brother Horsa.

Now you wouldn't have to stay but you WOULD have to swear allegiance to one of the kings, OR you could try to strike out on your own and try your luck on the borderland and be a free raider, though that runs the risk of those damn British Riders going to town on your ass.

The Change

A world gone mad. When you woke up this morning it was in a body not your own. With awkward movement and perception different from the day before.

You stumble into the bathroom. Unfamiliar limbs gets in the way and don't move quite right. But you get there. And in the mirror the face of a stranger stares back at you, wild-eyed and confused.

"What…" Not your voice. "How?" Your question goes unanswered. Only the barest trace of your old voice is there.

'What am I supposed to tell my boss? My family?'

Your vision wavers for a moment. Pieces of the mirror clink and ring as they fall over the sink and the floor. Your hand throbs with dull pain.

Somehow you find your way to your "living room". The small TV shows the news.

You are not the only one. It's chaos. The news reports that hundreds, thousands of people have changed. Still mostly human. But different. Like you.

The news advice people to stay inside. And that's probably for the best. Fires, explosions, they don't know how or why. But the changed seems superhuman.

You are:

[] Sickly Violet
[] Fluffy Servant

You work at a:
[] Fast-food place
[] Power station

[] School
[] Write in:

You were a:
[] Guy
[] Girl

Write ins are only possible for workplace. This is a scenario I've played around with in my head for quite some time. The Muse decided that I should write for it 00:16 when I need to sleep for school. Stupid Muse. It's not like I write for you or anything.

Hmm. Alright. Which one will result in our character becoming psychopathic mature loli?

Were? Does that means we were opposite of our current gender? In that case...

In context, I am reasonably certain that it does not. Rather, the gender is determined by the first set of options.

...So Nekraa...your muse maketh your MC into someone from Touhou? Interesting~

Once upon a time, there was an artificer. Skilled in both mundane and magical item creation, he was renowned on his homeland, but only there. Mages are a secretive bunch after all. And due to this said secrecy, they also tend to be lonely beings.

Thus, once faced with a threat as fearsome as an ancient monster, the artificer had no skilled warriors willing to go to his aid, and no friends to call upon for help.

No other options, and only his own limited battle prowess to call upon, he put his own skill to the test, albeit not foolishly: On the single week he had for preparation, he forged one last weapon: Unlike so much others he had on his arsenal, this one wasn't meant to battle, at least not how it was originally forged.

No, this one was his trump card, whose only ability was to absorb other's powers upon their destruction. While not powerful by itself, it was a weapon of unlimited potential.

Battle the creature he did.

Lose, as he predicted, he did. He was no swordsman, afterall.

Die by the monster's hand, that, he avoided. By his own blade he died, as his own blade he was reborn.

Only one thing he had in mind, at first, and that was revenge.

But ages passed. Time erodes everything, rage, anger, resentment and desire of vengeance are naught but rocks in the face of time.

And as water, time slowly ate those feelings, leaving only boredom.

He saw not when his foe was defeat, and he could not bring himself to care. Much more interesting he though, were the possibilities when he and many other treasures, were scattered around the world, for there was the possibility that someone would find him, and pick him up.

And so it happened.

For a few days he only observed, getting a feel for what to expect of his new wielder.

[ ] Potential. If there was one word to define his new owner, that was it. It was like there was a foreign but familiar energy lying dormant below the surface, waiting for the right time to awake and change the boy's life forever. Someone in desperate need of a wakeup call. A greenhorn like him standing in the middle of a three-way cold war with power like that? That could only speak trouble, sooner or later…

[ ] A lonely, but untalented boy, lost by virtue of being far away from home. A flexible soul whose virtue was withstand, even though his call was to fight in another's stead. Someone that could use a mentor, someone that by being an empty cup, could be filled to the brim in however ways were to be called for. He only needed someone to show the way. With three more like him and his master, who could be either the mightiest allies or most terrible foes? He's bound to die, sooner or later if left by himself.

[ ] A Boy whose childish dreams of grandeur were the only spark of life on an otherwise dull, almost dead existence. A fellow practitioner of the magic arts, but unskilled, raw and green. He could use a guiding hand. The world is not as merciful as it once was of such naïve ideals and dreams. By himself, he's bound to lose something precious, his life or even his soul.

[ ] Regret and anger warred beyond the happy and calm façade, for this boy had his wish realized in one of the most horrifying ways possible, and little was left of his previous daily life. Now revenge was his drive, and atonement his goal, pushing his talent by the limits of his effort, making him one of those geniuses that happen once upon several generations. With a master who could understand such decisions, he was bound to become a legend known through the four corners of both old and new worlds.

[ ] Pain, like those of a recent wound, like that of one dragged out of its intended path by the merciless hand of fate, setting to be those he once intended to hunt, once he saw this as the righteous path. A hero by virtue of being willing to be the necessary evil if such was the way of ridding world of greater, all-encompassing evil. This boy, no growing man, could use more allies. Perhaps, with someone willing to help his growth, unnecessary losses could be avoided.

[ ] As the world collapses by unknown forces and the death rise again to kill the living, your once though average wielder finds himself in a position of leadership, tasked with keeping those close to him alive, albeit unknowingly. His iron will hardens itself into steel, and you decide to speak with him. He could use an experienced advisor, even if you don't know all that much about surviving in this forest of steel, you certainly know how to fight the living corpses.

[ ] Wariness followed your wielder, but not without reason. His very aura spoke of evil, for there there were two souls intertwined, light keeping darkness at bay, at least for the moment. Might goals he has, in the foolishness of his youth ignoring how much blood such accomplishments call for. Loneliness you could understand, and youthfull brassness can be tempered by wisdom. Such power with only other eight equals could change the warring ways of the world for better or worse, but either way it's bound to be interesting.

[ ] With great power came great naiveté, it seems, and such doesn't change no matter how far from your native world you are. Still, is nice to be free again, and although she could grow up a few years, you can afford to wait. That and gratitude is best expressed through actions, and considering the task she has ahead of her, she needs all help she can get. The irony of her asking for a purpose and receiving such a daunting task is not lost on you either.

[ ] Although deceiving others but those closest to him, you could not find a more sincere and determined wielder. On a hostile environment, as a normal boy on a place where humans are preyed upon, he found you, while praying for someone to help him. You are not the most religious person, er, artifact around, but he did freed you, so the least you can do is making sure he survives. That it measn not being found and dumped back on that dark corner of the safe to rust is merely a bonus, if a very good one.

Although most of your powers waned during your long slumber, you still have skills as the mightiest of the artificers, and the ability of eating from the corpses of your defeated foes.

- Unique Skill: Devourer - Whenever a foe is defeated by this weapon, his greatest power is partially absorbed by the weapon, and made on special techniques to be called by either wielder or artifact.

- Master Artificer - Not only you can repair yourself if needed, but your own familiarity with many types of weapons allows you to change to suit any type of wielder: Sword, Dagger, Lance, Staff, Mace, Ax or even Bow and Crossbow, all forms were upon your call, as well as exotic weapons devised for exotic needs. Only your core must remain unchanged, but such is so small that it's hardly an impediment. Up to this day, only combat nails (when not along gloves) are beyond your capabilities.

- Inheritance of Ancient Times - Of all the power you have consumed to simply keep alive (two eons are an undeniable long time), only little remains. From the arsenal of abilities you could once call as your own, only three remain:

[ ] Blood unto Steel - The pain of your foes makes you stronger, and their blood fix your damage, without the need for complex spells or materials.

[ ] Cut Beyond Range - The ability to use wind to extend your hitting range, projecting a single attack forward for a range comparable of that of one sling thrown rock.

[ ] One unto Many - The ability to auto replicate is a useful one, especially in the hands of a user skilled in throwing weapons. There's still only one original, so you'd have to teach him not to throw the wrong one.

[ ] Reaper of Life - Even your wielder can be made unto an immortal as long as he holds you and there's enough energy, for you can infuse the life you take from others into his body.

[ ] Mana Eater - As one who knew, although not directly wielded, the power of offensive spells, you once devised a shield who preyed on them, making their power yours.

[ ] Burst - Never one to have had a powerful body, you complimented your staff of choice with a spell which reinforced your attacks with pulses of Air mana.

[ ] Fiery Soul - Your might is such that your very presence can burn those who touch you, unless you personally attune yourself to them.

[ ] Fluid Form - Once an enchantment you used on your clothing, it ended absorbed when you stabbed yourself, producing an interesting result: your very form is a mere projection of your will, and such it can change on the fly, without the need of spells, but still sharp and hard when used for attack or defense.

[ ] Energy Projection - The very basic but versatile Magical Shot many sorcerers learn on their earlier years (and the one and only offensive spell you carried your whole life) is yours to call upon.

[ ] Autonomous - You can move by yourself, without needing your 'master' to wield you, although you still depend on his mana to do so, so you cannot go very far for long.

No, I'm not only capable of writting porn.

Maybe I can continue this. Maybe not. I'd love to play it if someone decided to write it.
Potential Wielders: Issei (DxD), Saito (ZnT), Shirou (Fate), Negi, Tatsumi (AgK), Takashi (HoTD), Naruto, Nanoha, Tsukune (R+V).

Two posts on the SFW thread in less than a week? Damn, I'm turning into a prude.

Louise observed impassive as the servants hauled her summon to the corner of her room, the gaudy thing, propping it unto a standing position.

She still have conflicted feelings about it. Mr Colbert remarked it was impressively crafted, even the broken replacement forearm, and its vivid colours.

Seriously, who paints a suit of armour red and gold these days.

Its design resembled golems used for hazardous experiments, but it had no magic though, which Mr Colbert theorized it had likely deactivated through severe damage. Evidence seemed to point to that, for its joints were sealed shut, and it was immobile, even though an unanimated armour needed some support to stand upright.

It was just her luck though, to summon such a powerful familiar, but have it be deactivated.

The second surprise was her binding spell, momentarily activating the thing, the joints briefly glowing white, before it vanished almost entirely.

Four trials to summon a familiar, one trial to bind it.

If it wasn't for the fact that her case wasn't unprecedented (there was that ancient king of Albion who once summoned a inactive elven war machine) and her family name, she'd likely been expelled already.

With a heavy sigh, Louise changed out of her clothing to sleep. Maybe it was due to her repeated casting, but she was feeling strangely drained.

Louise awoke to the blinding light, and turned away from the window, to look at the early rising sun.

Then her brain, after several seconds and a muffled groan turned yawn, processed the wrongness of that statement, and she sat upright, looking at the glowing red of the early sun rising in the horizon.

Turning to the other side of her room, she looked at the source of white light, noting it to be her summoned armour, golem, thing. Whereas yesterday its joints left a dim glow, now the light filled her dark room almost rivalling the window.

[ ] Look closely.

[ ] Throw a spare blanket over it and go back to sleep.

[ ] Touch the glow.

Lets give the girl who has the shortest of fuses a weapon of mass destruction. Without its instruction manual. It can't go wrong! ...and trust QQ to play the role of responsible conscience.

Iron Man would be pretty straightforward and with Jarvis she does have a instruction manual.

This one:

Now before you scream at me she stole an irreplaceable item, remember that during the events of fusion there were multiple Sa-X running around. No one would miss one.

Given the Chozo's simply built Samus one of their standard personal armors...... it could simply be

a Chozo Power Suit (Human)

actually built for Louise for the Lulz

Machines need maintenance, which needs knowlegde of the technology. While Colbert can understand internal combustion engines, bioreactors and energy-matter conversion is another matter entirely.

By virtue of bein a X-parasite suit, its a biological thing, and thus regererate over time, bypassing the need of a skilled technician altogether.

Would anyone happen to know who I should ask about Robotech and Macross lore? I have a quest idea but I need someone to help me out with one side of it because my knowledge in that area is worth jack.

It has been many decades since I read the robotech books... ^_^;

Possibilities for the 'girlfriend' (and, no, this isn't a vote yet) include: A frustrated shinigami, the ice queen of the school who isn't what she seems, a far too friendly ghost (not named Casper), a delinquent whose life you 'saved', and a young devil who really should have read her own contract properly...

I like this idea, not sure what you mean by the delinquent, unless she got attacked by a ghost or something and we bound her spirit, or turned her into a zombie? Ice-queen might be zombie?

This quest makes me think of a cross between Bleach and Sankarea.

Hmm, A devil who screwed herself over on her contract sounds interesting too.
Possibly by including the phrase that, in exchange for X, she would serve us, but neglecting to add time limit/deed limit, so she's ours forever, instead of for a single day/task.

A shinigami would be fun, but I'm not sure how our necromancy powers would effect her or how she'd be bound to us.

I kinda want to have a quest where a human interacts with a low-rank shinigami though, then don't get any screen-time after Rukia goes back to SS.

all in all, it has my vote. I'd play it.

Not seen many Bleach Quest's get off the ground.

Wait, theres TWO interest check/idea threads?

No wonder i was so confused!

One SFW, one NSFW, yes.

Don't worry, I sometimes mix up the two too...

i saw this in the recent topics bit at the top of the thread, thought it was the other one.
I'd never even posted in this one before.

The fact that the thing i was responding to looked a lot like a NSFW quest idea didn't help at all either.

It's an old world. Countless eons has passed since the first creatures drew breath. Cultures grew, became complacent. And fell. Others grew from their ashes, fought with each other with the scavenged tools of their predecessors. And fell.

Again they rose. Again, through civil unrest, injustice, revenge, the False Moon. They fell. Transcendent arts and sciences, moving the very rocks and mountains. They turned their tools of ruin at their heart. And fell.

Through each cycle, people, little more than beasts scatter before the winds. Learn. Grow. Build. And fall.

Lands are scarred by conflict. A field where a battle of thousands where fought. Twisted and gnarled trees grow there. White as bone, translucent silhouettes stalking between them without rest. The ruins of a fortress, overgrown by crimson ivy, their nectar bitter with sorrow and regret.

Beneath a hill a grave rests. Beside the carcass a black staff of iron thrums, and awaits the moment it will find new hands and unleash its malice.

Peace. Of a kind. People fear the dark and the monsters hiding beneath the earth. The neighbor cities are spoken of with measured distrust tinged with hope. The last war "greatest of them all" – how short, mortal memory – between two mighty cultures saw one diminished, the other annihilated.

And to this world, you were born.

[] Human, one of many. Safe in cities, careful in their villages.
[] Created Race, unnatural creatures made for battle in the last war. Their creators gone, they try to find a place in the world.
[] People of the Sun. Strict, powerful, victors of the last war striving towards the Pure World.
[] Demi-human. The tainted world has given birth to many horrors, loss of morality, sin, corrupted places in the world brought forth twisted forms from humanity.

I'm glad you like the sound of it but, unfortunately, it seems that such expressions of interest were in the minority. (The reference was deliberately vague to try to make people curious though.) I posts this in the safe for work area because I was going to try to limit smut. If things really went than way then I'd have posted the NSFW pieces in a different thread in the NSFW section instead.

The idea I'd had there was that you weren't quite sure if she had deliberately 'messed up' the contract enough to be able to hang around or if she had really gotten confused about who was who when writing a horrible complex contract which referred to the 'the party known as the party of the first part in the second instances of the first reference'..

A shinigami would be fun, but I'm not sure how our necromancy powers would effect her or how she'd be bound to us.

I kinda want to have a quest where a human interacts with a low-rank shinigami though, then don't get any screen-time after Rukia goes back to SS.

Not seen many Bleach Quest's get off the ground.
It wasn't going to be a full canonical Bleash Quest, or to close to it at all, and I wanted to avoid the power levels surging higher and higher. Instead it was a case of having an adaptable toolbox and being able to add more to it regular, or improvise a flawed solution, rather than 'NEED NEW POWER-UP!'. Possibly even going the route of not being a direct combatant at all, but being quite able to call in a favour/binding to get something (or someone) else to fight for you while you stay back and do fiendishly complex things.
