Acknowledged, proceeding with connection.

Connection complete. Now interpreting sensory data.

Our host is presently sitting in a large office, checking the contents of a backpack. She's handling what seems to be medical products and various canisters bearing hazard symbols. More medical equipments are present at the edge of her vision along with animal health prevention posters. Hypothesis: This is a vetenarian's office.

"So you're really going?" The words are adressed to our host and she turns toward a middle aged man with a pot belly.

She nods. "I'm checking every again for my peace of mind, but everything is ready. I'll take the bus tomorrow."

The man sighs "I could at least take you to the train station, you know."

Our host gets up and hugs the man. " Don't worry, Jii. I'll be alright."

"I hope you will. I'm going to miss you Ponzu."

'Ponzu' recorded as host's presumed name.

The man steps back. "Look at me, getting all mushy over nothing." He shakes his head. "Come on, supper's ready. Let's make it a good one."

Our hosts nods and follows the man out. She passes by a mirror.

Re: Nanoquest: It's the littlest things that matter most.

[X] Resume mass production
-[X] When either double the necessary numbers for subversion of the entire immune system without significant risk for the host or exactly the 1 billion units necessary for speedy recovery of directive have been achieved, do so.
[X] Continue observation.
[X] Information is key. Improvements to sensory organs: Research; develop; deploy, assuming no undue harm.
[X] Host shows signs of exposure to toxins, research and develop better methods of counter them. Analyze antidotes, anti-venoms, vaccines and any blood work that would assist in this.

Ponzu

I wasn't even aware they'd made a movie out of Hunter x Hunter.

The exam she's headed off to is potentially lethal. She canonically survives, but fails, and could easily have been killed several times, as several other extras/NPCs were.

Symbiotic relationship, or assume direct control? If we're brain-jacking it might be best to wait until after we find out where she's going, finding the testing area is the first part of the exam.

If we're going the symbiont route she wouldn't make a bad host. She's already crazy enough to carry bees in her hat, and she likes poison, which we could make her even more resistant to than she already is.

Edit: Changed to mirror Pipeman's changes to his original vote. The resume production one, and its subcategory.

Re: Nanoquest: It's the littlest things that matter most.

Changed mine a little, because subverting the immune system would prevent a decent part of our units from continuing reproduction.
Also added the other points.

Any reason were Only improving sensory organs? Can't we, I don't know, do a Full Upgrade to her entire body?

You know, give her Soldier Boosts a la Schlock Mercenary?

Um, improving just her sensory organs without working on anything else is a bit of a bad idea.

Has nobody else ever heard of 'Sensory overload'? We need to make secondary changes to make sure that the primary changes are not damaging.

It'd be way easier to start of with reinforcing her body- Begin with simple structural reinforcement, enhancing bones and tendons.

[X] Host Survival is Paramount to Colony Survival. As such, General Enhancments to Host are to commence. Begin refinement and Enhancment procedure immediately. Repair any existing damage, prior to Enhancment.

Rewrote the build list. Instead of going just for Eye Enhancment, which could drive the girl Blind, I'm going for General Enhancment, because I Like the thought of being a Helpful Symbiote.

Warning: If our primary directive is recovered, carrying it out will be our first and only priority.
Proceed y/n?

ERROR: "General Enhancements" too broad a category. Please precise your orders.

enhancement are classed in three tiers.

Tier 3: biological optimization. Increasing host natural abilities

Tier 2: nano augmentation. Dedicate nanites to reinforce the body's function chemically or structurally.

Tier 1: bionic conversion: Fit host with cybernetic or biomechanical upgrades.

Anything wrong with going down the list? Start with Tier 3 Enhancments, move to Tier 2 when those are done, and finally we do Tier 1 Enhancments. But Tier 1 Enhancments can wait until we've established contact with our host, methinks.

[X] Proceed

and

[X] Tier 3

Having an actual goal besides making our host more awesome is a good thing.
I also don't expect it to be too restrictive, because that would make the quest unplayable.
And lastly, we shouldn't invest too much into improving our host before we have our directive.

Probably best not to go overboard until we've either introduced ourselves or taken over.

Sharpening the senses seemed like a fairly low key idea to me, I hadn't thought we'd boost them to the point where the difference would be overwhelming. It just didn't occur to me that we would be that capable yet.

If we're going for general enhancements, it's probably best to stick to tier 3 or 2 until we've got a better handle on the host. That last one seems invasive, and, well, noticeable.

Edit: Are we sure we want to get our primary directive back? It seems like it might cost us some control.

[X] Proceed

Because heck, its what we were Made to do. Might as well. Figure it out.

[X] Tier 3 Enhancments

Because she Needs to get stronger and stuff or else she might die, and That could get Us killed. Symbiont relationship is go!

Hmm, I think I'll vote for holding off for now. If the Prime Directive is something like, "Reproduce and consume or convert the entire world at every opportunity," that could screw us soon.

[X] No

[X] Tier 2

Because structural improvements like sturdier bones, more efficient digestion, or purging sickness is pretty handy and keeps us safe as well. They're less obvious too. Might help us get into position to subvert the smaller scale functions, which we're more suited towards than large scale muscle improvement.

Hymn, we want to work our way up from Tier 3, not just start at Tier 2. If we enhance what's already there, it gives us a better base to work from. This way, instead of just jumping straight for the Nanite reinforced bones, we make the bones Peak Human, and Then reinforce them, so they can take a Lot more reinforcement.

Right, about that. Do remember I said your host is a metahuman. That puts in question the ceiling of what tier 3 enhancements can achieve.

And seriously, some details about what you want to do would help a lot.

*looks at Liam-don*

Forgot about that, actually. Bigger achieving peak human then, they've already got plenty of natural enhancements.

Lesse....improving the bodies' ability to heal via scabbed over wounds is probably within our ability. Improve digestive track efficiency, production of ATP at cellular level, improve consumption of stored fats...

You know what, let's just go with digestive ability.

[X] Tier 2
-[X] Improve digestive abilities. Enhance host's ability to break down and consume ingested substances, even substances that would normally be toxic. Use the new influx of material to enhance nanomachine production and fueling.
-[X] If possible, apply these new digestive abilities to breaking down stored fats for energy when the host or the nanomachines require them. Increased efficiency in this process would be quite helpful.

Alternatively:

[ ] Tier 2
-[ ] Enhance host' ability to process stressful toxins that hinder the host. Use toxins for our own purposes.
-[ ] Improved efficiency of adrenaline related processes to minimize the 'crash' the hosts feels after overexertion.

[X] Analyze the possibility of replacing mitochondria in the host.

Did you know mitochondria are foreign entities within us, but we rely on them to keep our cells alive? IIRC they're also used in reproduction. Baby inherits mother's mitochondria. Maybe some of the father's? Been a while.

Point is, if we subvert the immune system, slowing replacing mitochondria, depending on how well we replace them, is very much an option.

[X] Do not yet attempt to recover original function.
[X] Tier 2.
[X] Improve senses, subtly.
[X] Determine what would be needed to keep the host functioning in the event of damage. Regenerative capabilities, by whatever means, should be the goal.
[X] Digestive improvements.
-[X] Focus on optimizing and assisting the liver, as that is what processes toxins, rather than the digestive system as a whole.

Might not be difficult to optimize the rods in the eyes, which would make low light vision possible. Sharper vision would be invasive, and require messing with the lens and optic nerve, which would be noticeable and somewhat risky.

Hearing could probably be improved a bit by simply repairing the damage caused by normal life. Humans often lose sharp hearing gradually, if unnoticeably, even at a young age, just due to the amount of noise in our environment.

Smell, taste, and touch would be a bit harder to get tangible benefits for.

If you accidentally click the quote button, then, while trying to use a hot key combination to close the tab you just opened (different browsers use different hot keys), you accidentally hit alt-s, it generates a post entirely composed of a quote and nothing else. So you try to find a way to delete it, and realize you can't.

So you just edit it into 'delete me please, oh powerful mod', and forget about it.

Either that or Liam-don was trying to yell at us for not paying proper attention to an earlier post, but thought better of it.
