• The site has now migrated to Xenforo 2. If you see any issues with the forum operation, please post them in the feedback thread.
  • Due to issues with external spam filters, QQ is currently unable to send any mail to Microsoft E-mail addresses. This includes any account at live.com, hotmail.com or msn.com. Signing up to the forum with one of these addresses will result in your verification E-mail never arriving. For best results, please use a different E-mail provider for your QQ address.
  • For prospective new members, a word of warning: don't use common names like Dennis, Simon, or Kenny if you decide to create an account. Spammers have used them all before you and gotten those names flagged in the anti-spam databases. Your account registration will be rejected because of it.
  • Since it has happened MULTIPLE times now, I want to be very clear about this. You do not get to abandon an account and create a new one. You do not get to pass an account to someone else and create a new one. If you do so anyway, you will be banned for creating sockpuppets.
  • Due to the actions of particularly persistent spammers and trolls, we will be banning disposable email addresses from today onward.
  • The rules regarding NSFW links have been updated. See here for details.

Alright, I think this is a good dedicated place to start compiling the stuff we need to do to for the board to make it 'habitable' and improve performance in general
  • Multiquote needs to be enabled.
  • A decent paid theme needs to be acquired and installed. Bought this myself. Your welcome. Check out the Dark Responsive (Green)
  • Various add-ons need to be put into place.
  • Certain permissions need to be fixed.
  • Vanathor totally needs to be made a mod :p
  • If performance continues to suffer server needs to be upgraded.
  • Tags need to be enabled.
  • Expanded Search installed and populated.
  • Permissions altered so people can delete their own posts.
Please post fixes you guys want here for @tehelgee to fix later, and various wants as you think of them.

List of Desired Add-ons

Depending on how much access we have to the database, it might be possible to run procedural fixes for various of the BBcode incompatibilities. There unfortunately doesn't seem to be an easy equivalence between post URLs across the two systems, so it would have a hard time fixing those, but stuff like image links, embeds and attributed quotes could all be fixed. (In theory at least.)

Search currently seems borked. Trying to search for old threads that I remember liking to Watch them, but Search isn't turning up much of anything.

One thing I forgot to mention: I think the page-length needs to be adjusted to 30 posts from the current fifty. I feel like its too hard to read at present.

The search engine is not even up yet. It needs to be installed and populated with a secondary database first.

I kind of like it at 50 posts per thread page

It was set at 50 posts before on the smf. On the test run for xenforo it defaulted to 20 before tehelgee fixed it. I personally prefer 50 per page.

The problem is that everything is bigger with XF. SMF was slim, and kinda small, and the 50 page worked. Now, it's this huge slog down the page.

I would go with the default 20 myself, but 30 seems doable.

One post currently gets 10000 characters limited. Remove or not?
[] Yes, so long snippet/update doesn't need double post.
[] No, 10000 characters is alright to me, too long post and it's hard to follow what's going on.
Should "Current thread viewing members" be bar available at the bottom of the thread like SB?
[] Yes, so we know how many QQers checking the thread.
[] No, let's keep it the old way like before.

Hm, the Recent posts section may also need to be re-sized. It might be simplest to cut it down to the top 5 most recent rather then 10.

Yeah scratch the character limit.

Also how about a dice roller for quests/RPs?

What about a vote counting app?

It'd be nice to be able to write long things.

Going to second this. my updates are long, and editing is already a pain, I really don't want to have to make three or four posts an update

I can't edit my indexes. The posts are too long.
By that measure, I won't be able to post updates when they're ready.

It'd be nice if that changed.

One other problem. The Recent post list always leads to the first post of the thread rather than the one which it is announcing. Any way of fixing this?

Big one. questionablequesting.com needs to redirect to the board again. Still leads to the smf forum.

Multiquote needs to be enabled.

Only mod for it is outdated, but you can already do it manually.

Certain permissions need to be fixed.

Elaborate?

Tags need to be enabled.

Expanded Search installed and populated.

Lets see how the server handles what we've got first.[/QUOTE]

Internal links (in posts and quotes) need to be readjusted

That is, unfortunately, gonna be on the users to handle. A little work for each, maybe, but it'd be a mountain of work for me.

Add a link to the IRC chatroom.

There will be one on the Hydrogen and Nitrogen styles, but I'm not sure about the others. Maybe our resident Stylist can look into it? :)

It already does. Nothing I can do about people going to questionablequesting.com/index.php or any previous post or thread links.

I've altered the maintenance mode to tell people to come here, though.

Is there any way to view the old forum but not be able to post to it? It'd be MUCH easier to adjust index links if you could follow the old links in the SMF forum and note their inter-thread post number to locate them in the XF forum rather than having to trawl through the entire thread post by post and then figuring out which index link is supposed to go to which post.

Unfortunately, no. Lag's already bad enough with just Xenforo. If people were accessing both forums, it'd slow everything down to a crawl.

What's up with forum.questionablequesting.com being exchanged for http://104.171.4.145? Also, reply should go down to the quick-reply box, rather than re-directing you to a new window. There's no drop-down windows, either, like for your alerts and account options.

EDIT: Apparently, editing your posts takes you to a new window, as well.

Try a different theme. It does all of that correctly, at least for Dark Responsive.

It's been exchanged because it will take a while for the DNS servers to successfully connect the new server with the URL address. Once that gets fixed in a day or so, we will have everything where it should be. Same thing happened to SV the day or so after it was set up, I believe IIRC.
