Bakuda Quest! Or 'Problem Solving Through The Application Of Explosives!'

[X] Plan Bii
[X]Powered armour, designed to be fitted with explosive armour. Huh, the best offence is a good defence?
-It's easy enough to rig up a HUD from assorted guidance and display systems from missiles and bombs.
-Active ECM and stealth systems because bombs and missiles needed to get to targets, and this meant stealth in some cases...
-Armor plating... why, reentry plating used by the Trans-Planetary Continent Buster Missile would serve along with high energy force fields.
-Power systems, you chose to use a degeneracy reactors... because singularity engines rocked.
-You had so many options for movement, in the end you opted for a Contra-gravity propulsion system, with vector thrusters for burst speeds
-The teleport system would need to be build at a later date, but you had ideas there using the faster than light drives...
-Offense-wise, you had missiles, of course along with shock cannons that were repurposed laser propulsion systems...

Maybe go for a bomb that causes intense feelings of guilt and inability to lie?

Well we could maybe make a bomb that replaces or otherwise messes with brain impulses and hormones by disrupting electricity or replacing certain elements with others or even quantum state fuckery, would have to be a pretty bullshit bomb to do it in a small scale and still be able to have controls for what we want to achieve.

Vote will be kept open a bit longer just in case.

GM: Please roll the following dice - 1d20 to beat 12, 1d6 to beat 4, 1d100 to beat 70. The Best Rolls out of five will be used.

[blockquote]Rolled 1d20 : 10, total 10[/blockquote]
[blockquote]Rolled 1d6 : 1, total 1[/blockquote]
[blockquote]Rolled 1d100 : 69, total 69[/blockquote]

Well...better hope one of you gets a Nat 6 to beat that 1.

[blockquote]Rolled 1d20 : 16, total 16[/blockquote]
[blockquote]Rolled 1d6 : 2, total 2[/blockquote]
[blockquote]Rolled 1d100 : 83, total 83[/blockquote]

[blockquote]Rolled 1d6 : 3, total 3[/blockquote]
[blockquote]Rolled 1d100 : 32, total 32[/blockquote]

SOVIET DICE CANNOT BE BEATEN.

Though I hope someone does, can't say I like that 2 on the d6.

[blockquote]Rolled 1d20 : 15, total 15[/blockquote]

[blockquote]Rolled 1d6 : 6, total 6[/blockquote]

[blockquote]Rolled 1d100 : 85, total 85[/blockquote]

[X]You find way to create various forms of missiles, grenades and artillery along with launchers. Not bad for ranged options.

The whole point of explosives is to NOT be where the explosion is.

Incidentally, how do I roll on this site?

We can always build a weapon/munition delivery system easy... Bakuda in canon did it.

Something CHALLENGING and out of the box for her specialty, like power armor or a handheld gun like an energy gun or some kind... and you guys default to weapons delivery system... -_-

Orbital Kill-Sats are a weapons delivery system.
And missiles mean rockets.
And rockets mean we have access to the orbital so long as Simurgh is on the other side of the planet.
And once we get up there, fun times.

Besides.
Power armor is so cliche.
Why bother with keeping yourself alive when they hit you, when you can simply not be there for them to try and hit you.
Avoidance is far better than endurance.

Remote-controlled launchers, programmed delivery drones.

You underestimate the versatility of weapons systems, furball.

That's a bit weird. What are the odds of that happening?

I'd just like to clarify that "Bombs" was a shorthand vote the ranged option, what with it having been made on my phone.

2: Missiles

Update remains unchanged. Enjoy your power armour.

-Trait: Egomaniac - It's all about you, and only you, why should you fucking care about other people. You take a -20 Penalty to rolls to help others unless you can justify it as being in your best interests.

-Trait: Genius - You're smart, the kind of smart that puts you on the level of Einstein, Turing, Hawking and a whole host of other people. The kind of smart that gives you +30 to any rolls requiring any kind of intelligence.

-Trait: Cold Rage - You have a light of Rage and Hatred in you, waiting to be turned into a blazing, ice-cold flame that will destroy your enemies. You can use mnemonics to induce in yourself this state of Rage, granting +25 to using your powers and +20 to your attacks. When using Rage, roll 1d6. On a 4+, you Burn Out and cannot use your Rage for the next update.

-Perk: Perfect Recall - You can make a request of the GM to instantly and perfectly recall one important piece of information. This can only be done once per turn.

-Perk: Zen In Frozen Fury - Your Rage is one of ice and in that ice you find peace and calm. When inducing a state of Rage, you are immune to mental changes.

Damage and Combat Explanation:
All weapons following a specific Damage Track, and certain weapons/attacks can have the potential to increase their possible damage. Here are the Damage Tracks:

Impact Damage Track: Dazed/Stunned/Badly Stunned/Unconscious/Dead/Fine Paste
Blade Damage Track: Nicked/Scratched/Cut/Wounded/Badly Wounded/Critically Wounded/Fatally Wounded/Gutted/Dead
Gun Damage Track: Wounded/Badly Wounded/Fatally Wounded/Shredded/Red Mist
Explosive Damage Track: Badly Wounded/Fatally Wounded/Chunky Salsa/Red Mist

More might be discovered as the quest progresses.

Dodging is an opposed roll to an attack, but after the rolls are done, the difference is calculated. The higher the difference, the greater the chance of a Glancing Blow that does reduced damage.

Damage for weapons is a letter code based on the first letters on their appropriate Damage Track. Next to the code is a number, showing the number of sides on the dice-roll to potentially boost damage. The result will be compared to any armour, and subtractions will reduce the damage further down the Damage Track until the attack does no damage.

For example, a knife with W4 would cause a Wound normally, but a 1d4 roll could result in a Fatal Wound.

Damage stacks, so getting a Wound in combat, and then another Wound would result in a Badly Wounded result.

Damage of one type is counted as a step lower when damage of another type is applied when calculating damage stacking.

For example, a Character who is Cut from a Blade attack is hit by an Impact attack. The damage counts as Stunned when calculating damage stacking from the Impact attack.

Making TinkerTech!
TinkerTech is based on a Tinker's ability to turn conventional technology and materials ranging from top of the line components to a box of scraps in an abandoned house into advanced technology beyond the State Of The Art for conventional Earth technology. But this takes time, money and materials and the difficulty of making the TinkerTech depends on how close to your specialities it is.

TinkerTech Materials:
The Material for TinkerTech comes in several forms; Scrap, Electronic Parts, Chemicals, Unstable Chemicals, Isotopes and Esoterics.
-Scrap: The basic building material for every piece of technology, Scrap is a catch-all term for any and all metal you need.

-Electronic Parts: Electronic parts are used for targeting sensors, timers, detonators, anything that needs circuitry, which makes them equally as valuable as Scrap.

-Chemicals: Chemicals are used to make anything from smoke and various gas types to standard explosives.

-Unstable Chemicals: This is key to the most powerful explosives and gas types, and more esoteric tech require these for sudden high-energy releases.

-Isotopes: Radioactive materials, magnetics and other materials that could be used in high-energy physics. Often has to be made with specialist equipment.

-Esoterics: These materials are unknown, as is the means to acquire or create them, but they are necessary to create truly deadly Tinker creations.

Money and Purchasing Tinker Materials: Money is used to purchase much of your materials when you can't simply scavenge or steal it. Your money is divided between two sources, your Wallet and your Bank Accounts.

Your Wallet is used for more immediate purchases and can currently store 1000 Dollars. Improving your wallet lets you store more money.

Your Bank Accounts are how you get large amounts of materials or specialist equipment. Currently you have a personal bank account with 12,000 Dollars in it. You might need to acquire more bank accounts that are more secretive as time goes on.

Making Tinker Technology:
You make Tinker Tech by rolling 1d100's to match the Target Number and the number of Successes for the Difficulty.

Target Numbers
Very Easy: 10
Easy: 20
Moderately Easy: 30
Normal: 40
Difficult: 50
Very Difficult: 60
Hard: 70
Very Hard: 80
Impossible: 90

Target Successes:
Very Easy: 1 Success
Easy: 2
Moderately Easy: 3
Normal: 4
Difficult: 5
Hard: 6
Very Hard: 7
Impossible: 8

Failures are rerolled, but each failure extends the time taken by one day.

Example:
Alice decides to build an IED, which requires 3d100 to beat 20. If she fails a roll, she can reroll it, but it takes a day to finish the IED.

-Coming Soon! More exciting features!-

Will we be able to combine Genius +30, Rage +25, and Focus +40 on our Tinker rolls? Since they combine for a +95 we could be potentially making Impossible tech all quest long as long as we don't burn out and deal with the surely minor difficulty of finding the materials, tools, and lab space to do so of course.

[X]Powered armour, designed to be fitted with explosive armour. Huh, the best offence is a good defence?
[X]Reverse Engineering Roll: 15 - Humans can reverse-engineer your technology with Tinker assistance.
[X]Black Box Roll: Nat 6 - You can translate the alien languages associated with your technology into perfect English
[X]Mental Changes: 85 - No Changes.

Character Sheet Updated! New Tutorial on Character Sheet - Making TinkerTech!

Powered Armour designs flow through your head, many of them complicated and resource-intensive, but the thought exercises help you practice your control over your powers as you are given check-ups, before you are finally released from the hospital.

Your parents and younger siblings came to visit you, having made the trip down from New York City, and you are reminded about your home life before you left. Dad is...uncertain about how to express whatever sympathy and your Mother, ever the drama queen, is promising legal action against the Blake family, but you manage to convince her not to waste the money. Your younger sisters and brother are a welcome sight.

You keep silent about getting powers, well-honed instincts telling you that revealing this would be a very bad idea. So you smile, tell jokes to keep them happy and smiling, before telling them your side of the story, not leaving out the details of you smashing Donovan Blake in the face with a baseball bat, as well as telling them that Lee Clarke is actually a lying meanie who took all the credit, but it's a secret, so keep quiet okay?

Eventually visiting hours end and Dad takes the kids out to the car, but Mom stays behind, before she suddenly hugs you, "Oh my darling little Eagle. You must be so bored in this place."

"It's not so bad, at least I get a break from homework and assignments." You try to play it cool, but the expression on Mom's face makes you cringe, "Okay, yeah, this has all been..." You sigh, "Fuck, that was the worst day of my life Mom, I thought I was going to die in that hallway. And now, I get passed off as the damsel in distress while that asshole takes the credit when he wasn't even conscious?" Your fist clenches, "It's a fucking disgrace."

Mom nods, "I know, but I know you. You are intelligent and driven. Nothing stops you from getting what you want, and from finding the answers you seek. And you want answers, don't you?"

You stare at her, before you feeling tears come to your eyes and ruthlessly scrub them away, "Fuck, yes! I want to know why he did it! I want to know why this happened to me! I want to know the truth!"

Mom stares at you calmly, before nodding, "Then go and seek the truth." You meet her eyes in surprise, and she smiles, "You would do so anyway. We have paid your medical bills and added a little extra to your bank account. Go, and find out why this happened to you."

"I will." You promise coldly, "I will find out the truth."

And then, you whisper hatefully as cold fire burns in you, you will make Lee Clarke regret his existence. In your mind, flickers of technology appear in your eyes, and you lean back with a smile.

It takes another day before you are finally released from the hospital. During that time, you find that Lee Clarke has all but guaranteed his graduation with honours for his 'brilliant and ground-breaking work', work that you did all the heavy lifting for while he pawed it like the dumb animal he was. No, animals and indeed any life would be insulted by the comparison. You know however, that while he may be eventually found out, no-one will find out the truth.

You catch a cab home and arrive at your apartment, fishing for your keys as you check your mailbox. You find a single letter and your lip curls at seeing that it's from Lee Clarke.

Tearing it open, you begin reading it.

Hey there Alice,

Oh fuck you.

I'm just writing this letter to thank you for your contribution to my success. Too bad you couldn't hand in your project.

I will make you die slowly, you coldly snarl to yourself. There will be stories about your suffering. Legends.

You skip over several paragraphs of self-aggrandising garbage before you read the one line that causes you to freeze, sucking in a hateful breath.

Don't worry, I'll make sure to put the Scholarship position your were aiming for, to very good use.

Regards,

Lee Clarke.

P.S. Booyah, bitch

Calmly folding up the piece of paper and placing it in your pocket, you head up to your apartment.

Thankfully, your landlord is the sympathetic type and waives the overdue rent since you've always been able to pay on time. That helps improve your mood as you step inside.

The place is thankfully untouched, though a quick check of the fridge tells you that you'll need to go shopping soon. Sighing to yourself, you grab some cup ramen and fill the kettle before setting it on the stove to boil.

Sitting down on the couch, you turn on the television and see if there's anything good on.

The news item that plays only serves to remind you of what you lost.

"And in science news today, Lee Clarke, the genius who discovered the Clarke Particle, may be nominated for a Nobel Prize as scientists continue to find exciting new possibilities for this particle..."

You turn off the television, mind snarling with hate and rage even as your face remains calm. Looking around, you begin to see the possibilities surrounding you with every piece of technology surrounding you.

Why not? You only need your computer, you have a portable stove that you've made some rather good meals on, and you have a spare TV in case this one got stolen.

You come to decision.
