Because she's a bitch and a bad parent, so she's not someone we actually want to have as a friend. Perfect to being perma-locked to Acquaintance.

Edit: Also substantially less expensive, and less risk of accidentally breaking a kid's spine.

I didn't mention it before as it wasn't needed, but... there is a reason beside the ones listed by Greymere.

Rainbow works, not with, but adjacent to Stormchaser. Having a somewhat nearby social pressure of "Velvet is hiding something, I just know it!" near him probably wouldn't do kind things.
 
So like.. I'm confused at all the talk about how getting to know Biedde is pointless? Just because he cant be [BEFRIENDED] doesn't mean he can't be befriended and we have a lot in common with him considering all the Colonel parallels Velvet has. Just because [Confidante]-equivalent is locked out doesn't mean we can't go for [Close Friend]-equivalent. Just being the level of friends with him that we currently are with Baldomare is what I'm talking about. I like him, and it would lead to him not sandbagging next time someone attacks our family. That seems a lot better way to think than going on about how we can't trust him: we should make him into a person we can trust.

That's because of All-In, since only befriended Names can go that makes Biedde lose a lot of relevance to the thread besides keeping him in the Wake so no one can use him against us.

Yeah, i don't see it, and for him to be a close friend equivalent we would need to...you know...befriend him...which we can't.

Desummoning not going to stop him fighting Velvet on the final mission. We will be facing a no holding back Biedde, along with all the other names we don't have as friends.

Question if someone you don't trust fully had a chance to become a God. Would you take the risk they won't change the world in a way you hate, or even decide to erase you existence from reality, be either accident or design.

That a risk where betting wrong makes a simple death the least bad outcome, with it only getting worse and worse to at the far end being as bad as getting Wormed.

Nobody would take a risk like that, let alone Names people that outright could not have survived as long as they have by taking a risk. These are people who don't leave to chance a risk, where someone winning the lottery means they die, if they did they would have wound up dead already.

You're still assuming they would know. No one besides Baldomare and Velvet know Glory can be reached at all after so long and they won't tell anyone about this.

Biedde can't ascend unless the Colonel allows him a I doubt he would want a new rival. Mareinette is a danger if she finds out though.

When Velvet goes to All-In she won't tell everyone what she will actually do, it is just gonna be another Expedition as far as they know.

Because it's cheaper, easier, faster, uses Mareinette when we otherwise have little use for her actions, and also was started to be a very interesting narrative that the QM would be interested in writing back when the idea was first brought up.

Also, Rainbow is an element of Harmony, while Spoiled is an actively harmful and terrible parent, and both Filthy and Diamond would be healthier and better off without her while Scootaloo would be worse off without Rainbow.

Overall, Rainbow seems to be a terrible choice, while Spouled has numerous benefits. Heck, I'd even want to use her for Mareinette's Grail Sacrament IF I was comfortable performing that one.



I honestly think we'd get a Heart Sacrament from Mareinette because she's the only Heart Name we've Come across, and she's a 6 in it. So she should have a Sacrament we can perform. And I HOPE that that Sacrament will also earn her friendship. Because at least her Heart would be less cannibalistic than her Grail just by nature of Heart being the continuance of the Self as opposed to the insurance of Desire.

It isn't LIKELY, but I will also choose to hope.

Right now there's basically three main options I think

1) Artifact Study
2) Steppes FO
3) Search for 3-circles ritual site

I think general opinion is leaning towards the first one

I mean if we had focused more on the Manse we probably could have befriended more. Even if they are potential foes, Names are essential to furthering Velvet's agenda. Someone at one point brought up the theory that we could have met the Name of the Lionsmith early on, perhaps on the Shattered Stairways and Biedde could have always been meant more as a foe to overcome.
I don't know if that's wholly correct, but I don't think it's unreasonable to expect Biedde to be an obstacle at some point. I don't know if it'll be a full on mini boss of the final dungeon situation, but we should be wary of his intentions and open to the possibility.
I like Biedde, and he's definitely useful, but he clearly has his own agenda and so can't be fully trusted. Besides, so far he's the only Name we can't befriend.

We could probably friend all 3 of the Names we can in 3 turns, it just a needs a push for it. And befriending a name is a big deal, not only do they stop putting the minimum amount to effort into their actions, they flip from being aginst us on the final mission to aiding us. That major swing per Name, just for the final mission going down an enemy and up a ally.

That not counting if we find the Winter name, or the forge name.

Be careful on assumptions there.
Friendship is like to be more than just one "Do this and all is good" action.

I personally doubt this will be the only action needed for Ax after all.

I don't think it's a matter of every Name we don't befriend will be an enemy. Baldomare already knows and isn't acting. We are already working on befriending Axe, but if we weren't, she would be chained up and unable to act. I don't think it's totally unreasonable to expect some opposition from one or two Names though. Biedde is most likely due to his nature and the fact he may catch hint of Velvet planning something due to proximity and choose to act whether he knows for sure or not. Mareinette is unpredictable and we know nothing about Neighna's plans or Biedde's dryad.
I don't think we should panic over not befriending every Name, but we also shouldn't assume that at least one won't oppose Velvet or we might end up blindsided. Ultimately it doesn't change much, at least in the short term.
