Exalted 3E Discussion

So looking at the expanded charms list, it seems like Essence 2 is what a player would want to rush to, or have Integrity as their supernal. Something like 4 charms in (and 10 charms in some other ability) let's someone more or less no sell almost any instill or persuade action. Though a QM could mess with that by calling a principle "overly broad". I'm still not exactly happy with the social influence system, as someone not that interested in a socially based character at least. There are a lot of supported ways to try to influence someone, but very few ways to deny them. So either you go for a lot of resolve and try to bruteforce it, difficult due to the amount of charms dedicated to getting past it, or you try to no-sell it, which is frustrating for the Storyteller and non-interactive.

Or I may be looking at this wrong and social charms were never meant to be used on PCs, which seems like an odd idea to me, considering many of the other charm trees seem to be built around interaction with other solar charm trees.

Yeah I visited 4chan and its hilarious.

One picture has stolen images in it.

The 3d stuff is so bad.

The picture in question:

Really disappointed about the art. Some illustrations are quite nice, others are... ugh. Here I was thinking "I'm going to wow my players showing them that"... Well, I'll have to be careful about which ones I show.

That was true in 1e and 2e... :3

Some shitty poser and plagiarized 'art' aside, I like the arts and layout.

I like the change to Evocations and artifacts now. It makes them feel more original, instead of just another longsword, +2.

That was true in 1e and 2e... :3
Yes but art in these edition still had identity and fit tone of the setting. But this... Poser art is a shit style i expect to see in cheap porn 3D comics not Exalted corebook.

I have suspicion that Onyx path just put this art here because wating for decent hand drawn one would delay realese even further.

So...why the cake pic?
Because..Masters of Jade.
More specifically, a part of Masters of Jade about a Lunar who believes the Guild is sinking it's hooks into and corrupting Solars. Soooo....when she finds her solar mate, a baker who's been hired to make 40 cakes for a Guild run event...Ms. Lunar reacts by eating all the cakes to protect her mate...somehow. The meme goes that "She ate 40 cakes! That's as many as four tens, and that's terrible!"

Unless you knew about all that and were asking why it's in the 3e corebook.

That was true in 1e and 2e... :3
The Ex2 corebook had a few pictures with lower quality, but they were still somewhat 'fitting' (even the Lyta pic and the giant mantis vs First Age weapon one). Ex1 was waay back in the past, and in line with other White Wolf books. After nWoD's better quality books and even Ex2's corebook, it does not fly.
This is a travesty.

Overall layout and some art remind me of Legend of the Five Rings, which would be good, except they didn't IIRC need a massively overpriced Kickstarter to make the corebook and the art was almost universally top notch and fit the mood of the game.

Honestly I just got into Exalted this year and stuff like this is making me lose my interest.

From what I've read it seems to me that this whole project has been really mismanaged. The art and the delays are a big part of that.

Though from what I've heard the 2nd edition had a whole bunch of issues as well. Such as no one communicating with each other.

*sighs*

It sucks that the old wiki was apparently wiped so I can't even go and look at all the fanmade stuff.

It's also not final product. Plus, arts aside, the combat and sorcery systems are much improved.

TBH, I don't want to complain so much because it could convince Onyx Path that released mostly-finished game is bad idea for PR perspectives, which is correct - and that means even more delay for future 3E-analogue. And that's bad.

Alright, who is crazy enough to port Infernal to 3E?

I think I'll start by trimming Solar charms first, though. Take note which one gives re-roll, consolidate them. Cut-off the non-thematic one. That kind of thing.

Some disappointing art aside, I like it. Haven't looked at Craft or Charms that much, but Sorcery and Combat looks nice. Interesting antagonists too (poor Kina, her lower soul is wandering around and causing problems).

The twitter says that the 3E Solar Charm set is more than three times as long as the 2E one.

Whoever said they had editors is a liar and needs to be dragged into the street and shot.
And I'm actually glad to hear that he was wrong. I prefer to have z dozen or two set of charms for each skill that are more versatile and useful charms over hundreds overspecialized charms that I'll probably never use and buy then only as prerequirement for better ones.

I don't really have anything against more charms. Reading "spells" from rpg books is a vice I have

So does anyone else wonder what the book on Exigents is supposed to look like? Considering each one is unique with their own charms and abilities and stuff how are they going to write it? Are they going to give step by step instructions on how to write your own charms or something?

Not that I'm against Exigents or anything since I think they have the potential to be really cool but I just don't understand what their book is going to be like.

The Underworld isn't a bleak reflection of Creation! Whee~

It's basically will be 'Creating Devil-Tiger: Do's and Don't. '

I'm waiting for Lunars and Alchemicals TBH. I really reallly reaaaallllyyyy wanna see them.

I know on 4chan someone is doing homebrewed Alchemicals based on the leak.

I'm worried about what Lunars are going to be like.

From the corebook, I'm thinking Lunars and Solars aren't going to be allies this edition. I suspect the general relationship will be something like 'beloved pet gone feral'.
