That's a good point. How knowledgeable about magic are Rias and Akeno anyways? All I remember is them teaching the basics to Asia and Issei in canon, but never any more advanced techniques.

I don't like these choices.

Joining as a memeber of her peerage is out, mainly because as it has been mentioned, we will always be subordinate to her.

To become a temp devil seems good, but we will never get recognition for our doings, something that in the end seems more suited for a Sidereal than a Solar.

Finally, to become a magician, while at first seems better, in the end seems to me that we are being shoehorned into that path and we won't advance into others. Plus there is the fact that we will still be subordinate to Rias.

So I think we should go for:

[X] Find another solution.

From what we have seen, Issei at the moment can defeat Raynare, and that was before he obtained better resistance and presence. Furthermore we can use the boosted gear better than Issei could in Canon. i think we should go solo for now, see if we can obtain help from other parties first.

Perhaps the girl we saved could be convinced to give us a hand, or perhaps not, but I still would like for us to try going solo without Rias' help for now.

@Smuthunter: They didn't teach them magician magic anyway. Devils just think "I want to do this" and throw power at it until it works. It is pretty much like the Wishcraft from the Nasuverse for a comparison. Magicians on the other Hand learn how Magic works more similar to a D&D wizard as you said. Rias probably knows some things about magicians and where the Major Groups of them are. In fact, there is one magician cabal that is more important in the later novels I think. I am not sure whether there is any one "Magical Government" in the form of an associaction like in Harry Potter or the Nasuverse, though it is possible.

@overmind: A magician is not a Servant of a devil, well not normally at least. They Exchange Information, power and materials. The magicians Support the devil, the devil allows the magician to study his or her techniques to create new spells. It is a symbiotic Thing, though at the start we would not have much Standing due to lack of experience. We could probably defeat Raynare yes, but I am not sure about a Group of Fallen Angels that actually expect us to be capable of fighting. Hell, they may even decide that our Boosted Gear is pretty useful and want to take it out similar as was done to Asia. If Kokabiel decides our boosted gear sounds interesting enough, he may just come himself to take a look.

If only to fight Riser for Rias' hand in marriage later, if it becomes available.

First, we've been shoehorned into a caster position since the moment we picked up a Twilight Exaltation. Becoming a magician just ensures that we get the training we need to make the most of it. We are never going to be better at kung-fu than we are at magic, so get that notion out of your head.

Second, being associated with Rias's family isn't the same as being part of her peerage. We answer to her but are not permanently bound to her. It's possible we could rise in power as a magician enough to earn a king piece from Sirzechs or someone else simply because we're powerful enough that the devils want us in their faction permanently, which would put us on even footing with Rias in social standing. This is disregarding our social charms that will have her eating out of our hands if we put enough EXP into them regardless of whether we're a pawn or not.

More like Boosted Gear has been severely nerfed from canon. It only gives motes now rather than doubling all our physical and magical attributes, and our extremely limited selection of offensive charms means we can't even use its power for very many things right now.

Further, Rias's peerage presents us with a good selection of front-line fighters who can cover for us while we play wizard in a fight. So far as we know, the other human girls that we met don't have nearly the same power or potential power.

We can still do that as a magician. Nothing is stopping us from seducing the hell out of Rias with our massive presence excellency.

That probably means no Dress Break for us, but it's a sacrifice I'm ready to make.

Nonsense. With our skills we can probably come up with Terrestrial Circle Sorcery that blows the clothes off every woman in a three-mile radius of us. Sorcery might be extremely impractical for combat but it's awesome for lots of other large-scale effects.

Also I'm going to backtrack a bit here; that bit with Rias being a Fate fangirl was hilarious. Alexander, have you ever considered writing traditional fanfic? FF.net's DxD section could be much improved by your influence.

You blink. "So you're like Shirou Emiya?"

A confused face is all that answers you.

"You know, Unlimited Blade Works? Fate/Stay Night? I know the visual novel is adult only and the anime is shit, but the film was even released recently!"

"I saw it!" Rias-sempai's eyes lit up. "Archer is a jerk, but when he used Unlimited Blade Works he was awesome! And so was Shirou when he fought against Gilgamesh. Did you saw Fate/Zero too?"

"Yes." You put a hand behind your head. "But to be honest I didn't like it much. I mean, the battles were amazing but it was too dark for my tastes. However I liked how they showed Waver growing up as a person. I felt he was more of a protagonist than Kiritsugu."

"I disagree: Waver' story was good, but the tragedy of Kiritsugu and Saber's wishes is the focal point of the story. I don't deny the other characters' importance, but their stories were..."

This just in: Rias is fucking awesome for liking Fate/Stay Night.

Also, in the incredibly unlikely event that we get Thousand Arms Prana, this conversation will become meta as fuck.

Hey uh, Alexander? Shouldn't we have effectively done 2 days worth of training for our mental stat? 6 hours in class rather then the 3 hours a day like was listed?

Magician is likly gonna benefit most from our being a Twilight, we have both the occult skill favored and we should have an easy time working on Lore: Mathematics (if i remember right, DxD magicians use math in their magic a lot) to boost our ability to use magic.

I've been convinced to change my vote thanks to the above post.

Lore is Lore Everything. And occult is Occult Everything. It's solar bullshit magic.

But seriously ask about heaven and people just plain out of the conflict.

We become associated with Rias and we may end up in a war against two sides cause some other idiot fracked up.

And if we stay solo then everyone views us as a potential enemy. We're not powerful enough to survive without allies.

Some time was occupied with lunch, while some subjects like physical education doesn't fall into Intelligence. If you want 2 days worth of training you need to study another two hours right after school.

How do you invent new Sorcery spells again?

I do traditional fanfics: I have a FF account named RealmOfEmptiness, with some stories already published. Never wrote DxD before this one, but I was considering a F/E CCC and HGDxD crossover/one-shot where the heroine and Gilgamesh, after the ending, arrives in DxD world and the heroine goes to Kuoh. Another involve an OC possessor of Divine Dividing (post canon) go interdimensional travel to the world of RWBY (if you don't know what it is search out, it's awesome.

I'm surprised Bright isn't flipping out over the fact they are effectively Demons. Yozi hate and what not. Not to mention. I don't think we CAN become a Devil as Solar Exaltion needs a Human host. Bright would likely chain it or destory it the moment it touches our soul.

Side note I also don't think we can sacced a arm or leg for powerboosts for much the same reason.

hay guys we have craft can we use it to make some thing magical
and trade it for protection for are family for a year and a day or some thing?

That's a good question, actually. I thought it might have been in the Black and White Treatises but I can't seem to find it. There is an outline for things sorcery can't do for use when inventing new spells, so it's definitely not something that is off-limits to players; I imagine it would have something to do with multiple occult and/or lore rolls as part of a project, say you need to build up a certain number of successes over a period of a week and then when you have all of them you make a check to see if the spell is invented or not.

Demons is a political descriptor in Creation rather than a racial one. It describes beings associated with the yozis specifically. The fact that she can't sense primordial essence rolling off these beings is probably why she's not flipping out -- they aren't real demons to her, not really.

Not to mention. I don't think we CAN become a Devil as Solar Exaltion needs a Human host.
Reincarnated devils are specifically not full-blooded demons. Setting aside the matter of soul cosmology, reincarnated devils are more like abnormally powerful demonbloods rather than actual demons.

Craft mechanics suck harder than pretty much anything else in 2E and 2.5. Our craft excellency is only good for making mundane arts and crafts unless we invest heavily in Craft charms.

We can't become a devil anyway. We would lose our solar exaltation. Or it wouldn't work.

We are never really told what the difference between full-blooded devils and reincarnated devils are. There doesn't appear to be any visible difference in their abilities (Other then whatever potential the Person had in the first place), so it may just be a word to differentiate between these that come from old bloodlines and these that were formerly of another race.

People that become devils seem to remain with their bodies in Addition to devil wings, weakness against holy element and weakness against sunlight. There is the fact that the Raiser Phönix People are also purebloods who have strange physique (namely, Phönix/bird parts.) so Devil may be a catch for all term for beings that have a specific nature.

Besides becoming a devil is a bad idea. Our own power would hurt us. It would be like a Solar becoming a creature of darkness.

I don't mean stay Solo. I'm talking about it there's this group of eclectic super powered being that want nothing to do with the otherfactions bullshit and has a big Stamp of Neutral on them enforced by magic contracting.

Whats up with the ignis divine part of the unconquered suns name?

Yeah, this seem like the best choice, tying us to Rias while also retaining enough independency.

Not really, no. Akeno is still able to use her holy lightning without hurting herself despite being a devil.
