Oh, absolutely.I mean, it's definitely possible it will backfire. I'm not gonna pretend it isn't. But I do think that's a whole lot of speculation from someone with a different mindset and view of Comet's perspective from the QM who has to write it.
(To be clear, this is me pointing out that I don't think anybody can predict how this will go, with or without the Influence)
Also, to be fair, if we come at Comet with a metaphorical executioner's axe and every reason to be pissed, then don't kill him… I think that would change our relationship too.
However, there's also a famous Name of the Colonel that he forcibly ascended as a punishment (and while Comet and Velvet probably don't know that history, they do know the Colonel himself - enough to intuit his (lowercase n) name, even).
Death is the most common, but not the only way Colonel!Velvet may show her displeasure, real or imagined.
If the Lionsmith is freedom, revolution, chaos and anarchy, then logically the Colonel is status quo, order, tyranny and slavery, no?
